  1. You do have to manage your spots a bit even though your at the mercy of mixi. I had a little perm and when my dog was 2 I could go there with the lamp and knock 3 or 4 over nearly every time. Easy access and perm so i could go early it was just to easy to get lazy and instead of walking the dog just wait till dark and have a run or two. The place is empty now so lesson learnt there. They all count
  2. My old Patt nailed a Westie when he slipped his harness and came over all aggressive. Patrick was on his lead My big yellow girl hates them with a passion. Tries hunting them. But next doors one used to get into our garden when they was pups and bully them all. I quite like the dogs, but they are little b*****ds yes I passed a yard once and one ran out and started biting the pups back end end. Even then he was a big lad so kept his sharp end away from it. But since then he bloody hates them which is a pain in the ass and all because some one couldn't be arsed to manage there do
  3. remember as a kid spending bloody hours trying to dig me ferret out with a stick. The ferret climbed over and killed and got stuck on the wrong side jammed tight. Was just following the pipes stuffing a poxy bramble along the tube. Must been there all day. Could had it out in 5 minutes with a locator. Just pure luck we found it
  4. Aye very true there is a trainer on youtube and he make great emphasis on getting things right the first time a dog does some thing as will last no matter what that is. If you get a dogs training spot on then take it hunting and the hunt goes well and the dog does every thing it should and gets success. It will then be pretty much set in stone and carry on. On the other hand if it runs around like a headless chicken and gets success that is how it will carry on and you can spend the next ten years trying to straighten it out. Like the first time i took my lurcher pigeon shooting and i dropped
  5. I like that blue print loads of stuff that makes sense and can be used with any dog and so much of it rings true with my experiences of my dog. Normally what not too do He has done a good job
  6. Them little westies you got to watch strutting around like they own the place. Little bloody hitlers
  7. One will latch onto him one day Ray then look out. That is what happened to mine. Up until then he all ways tried to run but not so sure now a days and it can be a worry Also surprising how hard it is to keep a dog back when its flying round your legs like a whirling dervish unless your jackie chan
  8. Starting to get trouble with mine losing one and heading off to find another instead of coming back. When she was younger, she really didn't like running out from me for too long, but that's starting to change at 2 years. It's a worry because it's never far from a major road in my local area. Otherwise she is eager to please and has decent obedience, but not sure what I can do when she is out of sight and quite probably can't hear my whistle. (x not a pure) Same here roads, tight perms or live stock you don't want to disturb and a dog that can scent some thing in the next county. Can y

  15. Even if a place has been cleaned out. You never know in a few years they may be back. I found a spot about 6 or 7 years ago. Cracking spot and any time of day you would see rabbits then bang over night the whole lot gone and not even a dropping or any sign for years. Then last week I had a quick shine on the off chance and they are back. It has taken years but nice to see
  16. I like it with a bit more swell on it but its a good area for them at this time of year. Get gilthead bream down here as well. yes it is just getting to know your spots. Oddly one of my local spots fishes best on a small tide with a completely flat sea. Sort of goes against the grain as far as bass go with there reputation for a big surf
  17. Excellent and what a venue. Nice to see the little old dog still going strong too
  18. that water looks perfect for them
  19. yea mine. If the cocker has a leak he licks it and pulls the most stupid face dribbling then has a whizz on top. If I take a leak in the hedge he has to do the same caught me out once or twice not looking and piddled on him lol. Also if the cocker has some he wants he sniffs the cockers todger really hard but better than laying into him. So yea an idiot lol
  20. can be frustrating sat on the side lines lol
  21. Worth knocking doors too. I just got back from walking the dog and called in a couple of farms and got a yes on both. So with the three yesterday as well I have had 5/5 yes. Admittedly 3 of them are poor and I will be lucky to see a rabbit but no harm in having I was out the other night and walked 2 1/2 hours the poor old dog had 2 runs and bust a gut and lucky he didn't kill him self and missed both. So I thought I need to start finding more rabbits
  22. Might be worth asking on local facebook groups for small holders, farming etc
