  1. Not everyone needs to, or even likes going out in company with more than one dog I didnt say they did. Calm down and dont take everything as a personal attack. That comment was not aimed at you. Ive had great nights out on my own and to be honest most lads Ive been out with (and that aint many) do things I dont like or they let too many dogs go and so on and I havnt repeated it. Much better on my own,you are right.. My point was that if you find a good mate, and by that I mean two blokes who get on well and naturally get on and have more or less the same fitness and pace and enjoy the sport
  2. One man and his dog bullshitting has never been easier.
  3. Not much fun lamping on your own if you have a good mate to go with. Ive lamped plenty on my own but the sports much better with a mate and while one dogs running the other is resting from his last run,and things keep moving along. Pups do silly things and hunt up and carry rabbits round in circles but thats just pups and mates dont worry about it. Ive been out with lads who are used to lamping on there own and there dogs have come to expect to run every rabbit and have opened up at the sight of another dog chasing because of jealousy. A pup needs to learn manners and that a run is a privilege
  4. Buy your grass seed from a professional place or golf course dealer..Just ask for a fairway grade seed.. Please dont buy quick fix type seeds as they are often agricultural fodder types and are not good at being cut a lot and dont form a mat. Best time now is end of August and into september for seeding, then leave cutting until next spring..
  5. Look under genral topics "Home stuff and building"
  6. The danger with some pups is too much is done too soon through enthusiasm of the owner..I would allow the pup to have a lot of mooching about and play...no drill training. If its a big type dont overdo exercise and remember bones dont set until 15 months. Your pup should be just right to start next season for work. Another good book is "The lurcher, training and hunting* by Frank Sheardown. ps You dont need another dog to start your pup lamping but it will start quicker when it sees another doing ,because it will look at the other dog running and then see the bunny and want to chase. The pu
  7. I never regret the good times drinking because its good fun getting pissed, and bollocks to the money, but I do regret all the days following the drink that were wasted. The next day is hangover day and it cannot be avoided. Waking up fresh and looking forward to another day out with lurcher Hound or terrier, now thats living
  8. Drinking is poisoning you. Im afraid there is no known cure..Take your dogs out instead.
  9. Its just opinion but I think Fury didnt fight Price because he thought he might get beat . He knows Haye would have beat him and he knows Klitch will beat him but it will be a mega payday. Thats whats hes been after I think, and hes made it. Thats why hes been so cautious in fights because he was after this day when the big money is there and it wont matter that he will be exposed because he will say I have only been beaten by the best heavyweight in the world..
  10. I dont want to hijack this thread but I just wonder how many people on here would actually consider moving a dog on because for one reason or another it will not retrieve, even though it can run like smoke and catch well.

  15. I know badgers dig up bees and wasp etc yet they dont bother Hives which puzzles me.
  16. I dont really understand the lumins. I need to know how the beam compares with lamps that we know already, clulite,Deben 170 etc
  17. Boys should not be mating bitches, its illegal. I blame Jimmy savile . Thats why people advertise pups as boys and girls instead of dogs n bitches, the sick b*****ds,its all going wrong.
  18. I like them 20-35Lb max when fit. Dont like them heavyweights, human or dog..
  19. Might not be rocket science, but its amazing how many are bad at it. Rushing about and having no clue about using the wind or not allowing quarry to use it.
  20. Theres a difference I think in quiet and timid. If you have other dogs the shy one can cause tension when you have to keep coaxing and cajoling. The worst thing to do with a shy one is try too hard to be its best mate. Best to let them find out you are a friend by being fare and calm around them. They respect calm and confidence. This kind of relationship can work better with one man one dog,but doesnt do so well when there are numbers of dogs. The timid dog often prefers dogs to people, and has I say can cause a lot of tension. The truly timid dog is a poor thing to breed from. It is quite a se
  21. Too much shyness and timidity is tolerated in all breeds imo. Its very possible to have a timid dog that is good at its job,and thats how the problem starts and gets bred into strains. A lot of faults are overlooked and ignored when a dog is a winner at its particular work, and then bred from. Timidity is a bad fault and causes bad vibes in kennel. Its a fault that gets more intense as its bred into a strain. Aswell as terriers it is now a problem in a lot of Bull blood and has been a problem for a long time in Greyhounds. Im not talking about quiet and steady but timid and nervy. Im not sayin
  22. "Cotton traders" make roomy lightweight trousers for the fuller figure. I only wear them because of a massive member but they are good for fatties too.
  23. I had one years ago. No good on Fox or Deer. Or Rabbits or Hare.
  24. If youve paid up front why should you tip aswell.
