    It amazes me how many people take terriers out without a shotgun. You cannot under the act flush quarry from underground without the intension to shoot it. You can miss or not be quick enough to get a shot but you must have a gun present with intention to shoot to be legal.

    I dont believe they should be made to work for us. I know what you are saying and you are right,but the truth is they are mainly about hunting with hounds. They are happy to have anyone pushing tory propaganda through letterboxes but they mainly Lobby for hunting with hounds.

    Keep seeing that quote JD....last week I was handed a copy of the CAs magazine off a pal who shoots,it contained plenty of shooting,mounted packs etc I saw the word "terrier" printed once,this was in a generic advertisement,coursing /lurcherwork/ferrets were not mentioned at all seems the divides already well and truly in place mate Was there articles on fishing, falconry, longnetting, squirrel shooting, mink hunting and pigeon decoying in it ?     They only want to know our sort when theyre in the shit and need numbers,otherwise they would be glad to see the back of us lurcher and terrier lads.     I agree with Fly the boy there,you have to be careful a dog hasnt been spoiled or scared. A lot of pups with that type of breeding are over matched and spoiled early on then moved on. Much better with something under 5 months. When you cross a rough with a smooth you can get rough or broken but usually when you then go back to a smooth coat I think the broken coat more or less goes. You see that when they cross welsh hounds with English..

    You would do well also to join BASC They will advise and support you. My Dad got a license so I could shoot when I was young but both my kids had s/g certificates when they were 10

    Pups dont always need doing because they are very active and on hard surfaces. Some nails dont need trimming but most do. One thing with dremel dont have it on too fast or too long. The only pain is when the friction burns the dog...very painful. I start from pups about 6months to get trust. Best get cordless dremel if you can.

    Freedoms are being chipped away at but we just keep taking it. I dont smoke but I dont like the banning of what should be a choice. Ive been into pubs withs kids on hols for a meal and theyve been smoky so We just didnt stop and went somewhere else. When I was young I only went into a pub to get pissed..I think pub days are numbered anyway.. I read a book once set in Scotland and everyone in the village had to take turns in opening there house as a pub and everyone would come round and bring booze and get pissed.     Not everyone needs to, or even likes going out in company with more than one dog I didnt say they did. Calm down and dont take everything as a personal attack.That comment was not aimed at you. Ive had great nights out on my own and to be honest most lads Ive been out with (and that aint many) do things I dont like or they let too many dogs go and so on and I havnt repeated it. Much better on my own,you are right.. My point was that if you find a good mate,and by that I mean two blokes who get on well and naturally get on and have more or less the same fitness and pace and enjoy the sport
