If you find the rats are reluctant to show their selves put down some wooden pallets. Rats don't like being out in the open, owls an' shit, but if there are pallets they'll feel safe under them and you can still get a good shot at them. As for shot placement I'll shoot them anywhere from the rib cage up. As long as they die that's the main thing, after all I'm there to kill as many as possible as quick as possible. If they eat poison it'll take a week or more before they die so it's still more humane.

Not what I would get but seems alright for the money. Bloody loud, I would defo get a silencer for it.

I bought a Hawke scope about 6 years ago. Had it on my s410. As I went to go out the conservatory I smacked the barrel big time into the door. The scope was shooting to the left at close range and to the right at further ranges. I rang Hawke and told them what had happened. They said send it back and they'll look at it. Can't remember if they fixed it or sent a new one but the one I got back was fine and there was no charge. Give them a call and explain what your problem is, they might be able to fix it for cheaper than buying a new scope.

I've had lots of different scopes and I can't say I've ever had any problems that were temperature related. The only minor niggle, when it's cold, is I get condensation on the ocular lens from the hot air that I breath out.

I have a AA S410. Bought it second hand 9 years ago and it still shoots spot on. I use a stirrup pump and don't have any problems. If you're using night vision you can shoot a rat then load another pellet without losing sight of other rats. I would go for a .177. It's a straighter trajectory which is going to be better for N/V shooting as judging distance is a bit hit and miss at night. Fitted with a silencer they are dead quiet. P.C.P's are just nice to shoot. I can sit out in the field at me table and pop away at all sorts just for the fun.

If my guns ain't with me they're in a cabinet. I got the one in the house, one bolted in the Transit and one bolted to the bed of my Hilux. The bolts that got through the cabinet and bed are drilled so when the nut is fitted i can put an 'R'clip through the bolt. You can leave a gun any where but if it gets nicked you're f****d!!!.

I know a few Door Men and they have to put up with some right ass holes. They get spat on, women try and brain them with their stilettos and nutters try and shank them. Drinkers today are of the 'Tony Blair' generation, think they have a right to get away with anything. Bit of a reality check brings them back down to Earth.

Just had the latest magazine through from B.A.S.C. and in there some blokes wrote in saying he got a bol1ocking from his FAO. Apparently he put a post up on Facebook saying he was going away on a certain date. FAO said this means some one watching his status could know he's not home and go and rob his guns. Makes you wonder what else are they looking at. I never use my real name on the net and never put up anything that pertains to my person or whereabouts.....you never know!.

WOW!, what a thread. Dudes offended about everyone on here. Even people that ain't said sh1t to him are gettin' it. Apparently I'm a 'Puff Gun Boy' Coz I shoots an air rifle..... what ever. I'm sat here with me cup of tea an' a packet of crisps itchin' for more.....I'M HOOKED!. It's like waiting for the next instalment of Eastenders or summut! :-)

The tiniest piece of crap can cause leakage. I use a stirrup pump and always keep a plastic bag over the end with an elastic band over it to hold it in place.

I use the Napier oil. Nothing to do with accuracy I just like that there is some thing going down the barrel that is going to leave a bit of oiliness in there. As for grouping I don't have any issues. Let a mate of mine have a shoot over the Christmas break. We were in a barn and put some targets out, just some rat and magpie silhouettes, at 25 yrds. Come the end we had a 1 1/2'' long piece of 15mm diameter copper pipe with a 6'' concrete block on it, to stop the pipe from moving, and my mate was shooting straight down it no problem. Baring in mind my S410 is left-handed and he's right handed
