A mate had two jr x border x whippet they were great bushing dogs and had the speed to catch over short runs, Headstrong as hell and would piss off for hours in the bushes, sadly my mate was dying of cancer and while in a hospice the staff refused to let his wife bring the dogs to see him that really pissed him off.

I have two mates that have suffered with it most of their adult lives, both were total extroverts, the type of person you would not put down to suffering from it. Having seen others that have it i now realise that you certainly cant judge a book by its cover , A lot of extroverts seem to suffer with so is their persona just a front hiding their inner selves.

Once when driving down a hilly road in sledmere east yorks i saw one flying along a hedge on my right hand side i slowed down to watch it, it was hedge hopping low down and kept switching from one side of the hedge to the other i followed it for about a mile when it spooked a bird from the hedge what i think was a linnet, in a flash it nabbed it, its legs stretched out what looked like half its body length, an amazing sight. Like you i also am glad that ive seen the best days of working lurchers. Non ped grews are the best working dogs i ever had standing around 22 23ins ths 32lb perfect weight, the best 30 yarders they were called because nothing was as fast over the first 30yds and when ferreting how many runs do you get beyond that. I have a lot of respect for them, most guys dont need a bigger dog, all down to what quarry you run. But for me those little dogs have given me some great days and nights out ATB KIC.

Well i live in east yorks love the place, do not give a shit about what surveys say, make your own mind up on where you live, we all know there are miserable twats everywhere. Hull the nearest town to me takes some shit in the press, usually by some reporter that has never put a foot north of watford. But you can walk around hull city centre with very little risk keeping aware of any drunk you may encounter. I have worked in many towns in the UK and have found the north friendlier and safer than a lot in the south Luton being the worst shitehole i ever had the misfortune to be in.

Look at the ghetto areas of the towns within this country and see who is standing for election as MP. obviously the immigrant majority will elect the family member they are told to vote for, the women have the vote but in reality they dont have the vote the husband tells them who to vote for. End result is we have another alien in office who is hell bent on changing this country into a muslim state. Im 66 and have two dogs i mooch with every day ones 12 the others 10 both were decent in their prime, im reasonably fit, but cant see myself without a dog, got an arrangement with a mate 30 years younger than me who will take my next dog, if i pop my clogs. But if i do get another i would go for a smaller lurcher that would suit my purpose eg ferreting the odd night on the lamp, no double figure nights that would suit me.

Around my neck of the woods i have seen a big increase in whippet owners, no doubt due to crufts.also a fair few lurchers with owners that will never work them. Seems a shame that the majestic lurcher and sight hounds will never get the chance to do what they were bred for.
