  1. Is that on the Stour Chris? You should come and fish our little charity match on the Trent, the way you fish is exactly why we wanted to set something up on running water... Keep up the old traditions mate Atb Kev Edited to say I've caught a few of those river carp, never a big one 10lb max but they go like trains, My uncle and a couple of cousins are the last of 2 boats to have the license to net for Salmon in the upper Estuary at Topsham, they've had huge carp and bream in there nets especially after a bit of rain.... I've seen 2 fish a couple of mile upstream from there, and
  2. That's it mate, from the tidal Exe I've caught, bass, sea trout, flounder, eels, carp, bream, roach, dace, chub, grayling, brown trout, mullet ( oh and ive lost a few salmon after a couple of jumps and a run about the 2lb line gives in lol) there's no barbel there Though, but there are huge pike if you fish for them. It's a place when you fish it you have no idea what's coming, I love that.... If I get to organise a THL match down here I'll put it on that stretch, there's loads of room and it on our local ticket, I know the club would allow it... Good luck on the barbel mate, let us know ho
  3. Good session mate, it's nice when you get those bonus unexpected fish
  4. Well I've managed to sort it just right, It's my anniversary tomorrow but I've taken the wife away tonight, nice meal and hotel in Bath.. Back tomorrow in time to get the bait and prepare for an early morning jaunt on the Exe... Torn between 2 stretches either the tidal for Chub, dace and roach or the weir fields stretch for big bream, plus the roach and chub... I love the tidal though, I've had all sorts from mullet and sea trout to near 10lb bream and chub to over 5lb, it's a funny place to fish..... Love the rivers you can't beat it IMO, ponds have no great appeal to me. Tight lines
  5. Near Burton I think, Stewies your man for exact location...
  6. walk you lazy kunt........... cant you blag a lift mate??? Haha. I was in a right pissy mood when i posted that mate has paid for my tickets without me even asking, off down there Sunday coming home Tuesday owe him about 5000 pints That's a good mate there, you only get a few you can really rely on... Well I hope it works out for you mate, all the best for the future..
  7. Left the wife too it, it's shit, just been along the canal with the dogs now got a job to price... I hate pricing but not as much as that crap..
  8. i hope you mean its not sad to say im right............... No mate that wasn't a piss take this time lol.... It's a sad fact that's all.. I worked in a fishing shop when I was 17, it was my passion, I wanted to stay in that industry in someway.. but unfortunately I could never see myself earning money in it... So off into the building trade and more money meant I could pay for the things I liked doing.... Not saying that's the right way, though...but generally the things we love doing don't pay as well.. from using a till to cleaner on a building site........now thats progression..........

  10. As sad as it is 90% of the time I'd say Stewie is right, your job pays for your passion and rarely does your passion pay.... You come over as a decent lad on here mate ( surprisingly decent for a virgin, lol), and at 22 you'll fall into something no doubt.. Hopefully you sort something that suits mate, good luck Kev
  11. Got the pics mate, I'll get them up in a bit
  12. Well done your mate, that's a cracking fish... I bet he's still smiling now ...
  13. Great posts Jigsaw..... It's my anniversary on Saturday, together 12 years married 4..... I'm a bit concerned cause the rivers open on Sunday and I think she's expecting to be whisked off somewhere for the night....... Who will end up disappointed???
  14. Oh yeah that's what the thread was about lol So what did you have for tea tonight Pete lol...
  15. I sat for 9 hrs on a beach in Cornwall, then the rod was pulled off the rocks, I grabbed it expecting that surge of a huge fish..... Nothing there lol..... I was pissed right off and went home lol Come on Ant where's this giant bass and story we're all waiting for..... I've got work in the morning...
  16. no worries and make sure you stay on mate you were a good old school member lol plus its getting soft on here so we could do with your epic putdowns now and again lol....... Uh oh Stewie... I think you've set yourself up again lol
  17. There were a load of Coypu on the Norfolk Broads years ago weren't there?... Set free by the idiots only to reek havoc, to all be trapped and killed... The banks were collapsing from they're tunnelling from what I heard..
  18. I love posts like this, does anyone actually realise how good a dogs sense of smell is?.......it's so good that you can't even comprehend it!! This is what makes me laugh when folk say they need a smorgasboard of mutts crashing about in the bushes making enough racket to wake the dead just to find game!!......err, you don't .[/quot "A smorgasbord of mutts" lol A terrier and a couple of lurchers around a bit of cover is a good few hours fun in my book.... Bring Fido down we could make our own Smorgasbord lol
  19. My terrier will push through most cover and let's you know when she's onto something, the exitement of the lurcher on the outside, trying to work out where the bolt is coming from, normally this is through big bramble patches.. I'm not going to pretend we catch loads like this we don't... We miss loads.. But I like this type of hunting, the dogs work in a team, we do a lot better when there's another lurcher or 2 about... Oh and the terrier catches a few in the hedge bottom too.. I wouldn't want a silent dog in that heavy cover though..
  20. Good post Pete, The man who took me nesting as a kid seemed to have a sixth sense as to where they were, he showed me how to respect nature alongside hunting, what people don't seem to realise is they go hand in hand.... I sat and watched lots of broods raised when I was a lad, from blackbirds to woodpeckers, ducks, finches and tits all sorts..
  21. Come on then spill the beans...... Photo??? Lol
  22. Definitely mate, that would be good thanks..I met up with an old mate yesterday, he's got a few spots in the Exe I don't know about so we're going for an evening next week, on the eels again ( you can get them at Exmouth docks)... I'd love a session on the Dart mate, I've never fished it from the shore, been out with Dave Harrison on Gemini, on the skerries a few times and wrecking quite a bit out of there. Every time I've gone down the river on the boat I e promised I'll fish the shore but not got round to it...
  23. Used to have a nuthatch visit our garden most days as a kid, always fascinated me... Johnny that is a cracking pic, looked for sky lark nests and never found them... The larks always fooled me ( that ain't hard lol)
