For Sale Selling up: dogs and ferrets...
Ideation replied to polo415's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
None of those ferret kits are albino, the picture of the adult jill is someone else's avatar pic you have nicked, and you sell sheep killing dogs as stock broken. . . . .. . . . and this lot are the messers? Stolen dogs??? -
Aye, your mate the keeper might be happy with you killing the odd long ear with your mutt, but how is he going to feel about you telling the world that he lets you break the law on his estate? It's his job and livelihood, i know you are excited but have some sense and wise up kid.

Very game at 12 months and its had one fox?? at the end of last season at 6 months she got bit by one and got stuck right into it she had got of the lead. so no holding back. the lines she from its no surprise You think a dog is game after one, sorry one and a half foxes, we obviously have very different ideas of what constitutes gameness why what is a game dog in your mind or does it have to be 18 months or older Game - a term usually used to describe fighting dogs. I.e a dog that will face an equal or over powering opponent of the same (or comparable / more ferocious) s

v - in the burgh there is a huge amount of green space, and a shit ton of them live in the grave yards, and a few around the base of the castle, as well as in and around the gardens.

They will print any shit in that thing, honestly, they hold the folk that write in it, up as some kind of group of working dog / ferret gurus, and most of what they write is total nonsense based upon their own limited experience or prejudices. It's a joke. Whippets are slow, ferrets are crap (you need an e.u poley), all poachers are also thieves and muggers and so it goes on and on and on. . . . seems like whoever is in charge will take anything written by these folk, without giving a thought to weather it has any kind of grounding in reality. -

Aye lets just say that whippet with collie ancestry mate and knock it oan the heid lol hows yours getting oan ? Haha, knew i'd wear you down eventually. I'm not knocking her, if you ever decide you want rid, send her to wales! Aye, mine is no bad, got 4 working legs, which is a bonus considering, healed up pretty well, but you can see he feels it after some hard running, still faster than a lot of dogs though, and as i don't really lamp him it's no real hindrance. He's been picking up rabbits here and there over the summer on our mooches, but is still a headstrong little bugger.

Alright Jamie mate, i had to do a bit last couple of days, gardens. It's still baking here, covers still up, which is alright in some spots, but fecking squeakers all over the shop, going through the nets, getting munched by the dog, and getting held by the stinkers. Couldn't even get a mark to dig as the ferrets were bombing about all over the shop underground trying to kill them, so i just had to make a brew and wait till the massacre was done. Really weirdly no adults down there. . . . .??? Start of the season is going to be a bit hit and miss i think. Ah well, good to be out and finn (the

huh? Is the kit male or female? Could go either way, but i'd listen to your old man and wait till they are out of season at least. Your one kit died? What were the symptoms? As for the infection, did you really need to read a book to know that green puss coming oot its eyes was no good? I'd get it down a vets and get some anti biotics.
-
Aye mate, it's probably because they are young and playful, but also you do need to break ferrets to dogs, it's something that a lot of folk forget. Otherwise it's like "what the f**k is this big hairy thing towering over me, attack attack, run run". Both animals need to get used to each other in order to form a good working relationship.
-
Just for the record i WAS having a shit day.
-
I think that's kind of the point. If i woke up and someone was in the house, they'd be getting shot and fed to the pigs, no questions asked, out here, no one would hear the screams.

Sounds like a nice trip out, good to see that wee collie x getting in on the action.

Is the bad Publicity the Mark3 Recieves Valid?

Good bit of kit, just carry spare batteries with you. -
I'm thinking of breeding my EU polecats
Ideation replied to donaldanddaisy's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Do you actually work your ferrets???? All you talk about is how nice they look and how sweet natured they are. Those are both positive things, but not really the basis for breeding working ferret/polecats. In my opinion you don't breed from a jill until she has had 4 good seasons work, or more (unless in extreme circumstances). And the 1st season after they are born doesn't really count. Enjoy your polecats, ferrets, whatever, enjoy working them and get to know how they go, and only breed from them if you can honestly, hand on heart say, your are breeding best to best (working ability -
Hair loss sounds normal ish, but the red sore penis sounds like it could be an infection??
-
Aye, dropped a bit of a bollock there didn't you. . . .. taking a dog that was not broken to ferrets out ferreting. . . . . next time break the dog first or leave it at home. But to answer your question, it's difficult with an older dog, especially if you do not own ferrets. But try to expose him to them in a controlled situation where you can correct any undesirable behaviour, have him on a lead etc etc
-
I remember reading somewhere, something like, "unless you really need one, don't get one"? Maybe on here.
-
Me and my other half have discussed this a bit, with plans to move overseas for work, and generally a better life / future. The dogs would come as well, or i would wait until naturally dogless and then go and get a new pup there. The thing that i would hate leaving would be my ferrets, and the thought of ending up in a country where i could not ferret does weigh heavy on my mind.
-
Yes Gareth. Thank you.x. Yes moll, you ever decide whippets are 'gay' and want rid. . . . . give me a shout. PLEASE!
-
Just retrieving? Most dogs will retrieve if trained, so you have a wide choice. If wanting a proper gundog, to double as a guard, none of them really fit the bill, but one of the pointers is probably closest.
-
Maybe just not enough ferrets mate.
-
Thank you On the right..... Once again moll, showing that you really DO get the best from your animals (at least going by the pics i see). All an absolute credit to you. Technically a lurcher but looks more like an athletic Staffy . One of the gamest dogs I've ever had the pleasure to own
