  1. Well, I've got to say it's been a very mixed start to the season. The dogs have been kept fairly fit over summer, out doing a lot of mooching, quite a bit of chasing, although not much catching. Things kicked off very well, got the old dog (Finn) out and had a few, and the young bitch (Bree) was to be fair, on fire. At two and a bit, she had just had that moment that all dogs have, where they suddenly grow up and into themselves, the pup becomes the dog that you will run for it's life. Mentally and physically she has grown into herself, and was catching very well. Just before she had her accident, she made a catch which to me was probably one of the best I've ever had, and cemented in my mind that she was going to be a very good dog for me. To say I was excited about the coming season would be an understatement! Anyway, within two weeks, all of that fell apart! First, out lamping with the old dog, he lost a few teeth, and somehow ended up catching something else, as I posted on here before. . . lost a third of his body weight while in the vets on drips etc. . . . .and then a week and a bit later, the young bitch impaled herself on a rock, ripping a fist sized hole in her chest muscles. Both dogs are home and on the mend, but something tells me the old dog will never be the same again. And the young bitch is to be walked ten mins at a time on the lead, building up by 5 mins a week. . . . until I can eventually let her off in a confined space, so she can't run, just trot. It will be a long time before she is flying again. Its not so bad for the old dog, he's had his time, but for her, she's at that point when she just needs work, , lots of work, to really wed her to her game. And for me, the season is basically over. I'm left with a wee hound. . . . . so I can still do some chasing, but without the running dogs, its just not the same. And the bad luck is still coming. Was out this morning with a mate, and one of his pair of lurcher bitches, hit a sharp stick in some clear fell and took the front off her leg, damaging muscle and tendon. She will also be out for a good while. It makes you realise just how much these dogs give for us, to give us our sport. So as you've guessed, i'm sat at home bored, with no dogs to run And I've learnt that the woods are a dangerous place to run dogs regular. We've had a long run of good luck, some great sport and no injures. But I guess sooner or later its inevitable.

hows the farm jai? Any pics mate Too many sheep, not enough sleep lol. 5-6000 of the wooly idiots. Live in the land of big fields, bad flint, game keepers and nosy neighbours. . . . But theres usually something or other to chase. Luckily having crap dogs keeps me out of trouble. Old anti social one is on three legs at the moment, but me and the young, dumb, staffy are off out later. Apart from that its ok then mate? Wheres the farm based Bosnia.

They are scum mate. Having a nightmare with them at the moment. Last week or two, driven all over crops, smashed fences, cut fences, rammed a gate, dumped dogs, stole a quad bike, tried to break into the house and into the yard. . . . . . And folk wonder why some of us are highly suspicious of certain sections of society!

    Lost Bitch

My mate has asked me to post this on here. He was walking up the skirrid mountain near Abergavenny in South Wales on Friday and something (possibly the high wind) spooked his pet lurcher bitch and she bolted. He searched for her and no joy. Has been back every day and night since but nothing. He's spoken to lots of locals, farmers, police, vets etc. She's black/brown and white and is a staffy x, about 22" tts. Called bella and is good with people, dogs and most importantly sheep! If anyone hears anything good or bad he'd appreciate knowing. Pup Learning.

To be fair what she wants to do is lick the milk off their faces. Has showed no aggression at all toward them. Which is a bonus given what I do for a living!

    Bushing Lurchers

my mates got one 1 x beddy x whippet , and its spot on great little tough dog , my next dog in the future will be this x, ive always wanted a smaller lurcher as ive got older , for bushing/mooching there 1st class These little dogs are class. Great fun and plenty of action.....owner is a bit strange!! One is a 1st cross and he has a pup out of her that is 1/4 beddy 3/4 whippet. There's lads on here with litter brothers and sisters. Bird, I would honestly go for one of these for a mooching dog. The sire is the best 'hunting' dog ive owned, and one of the best ive been out with. Never fecking stops and is always on the job. OCD little black twat that he is.

I was taking the piss mate, I know they aren't just collie x's. . . . . .the question 'what is a minshaw' always makes me smile. Its a lurcher, bred by a group of folk, to do a certain job. Whats in them isn't really that important is it.
