  1. mackem - it is that mate. Millet - cheers mate, as for the rest of the photos. . . . what can i say, shit phone, shit pics, but better than nowt.
  2. Aye, my phone is f****d mate, too many days being handled by muddy hands.
  3. My missus had never hunted, or killed anything before she met me. She can now lay snares (and has caught), fire a shot gun or rifle, lay nets, handle the ferrets and the dogs, and even get a fly line out a half decent way. She has no problem with the fact that come winter, the time we spend together is out in the mud and cold chasing game, she comes lamping or ferreting quite happily and i would not swap her for the world. Would she do it if we split up . . . . . f**k no!
  4. Took the dog for a wee walk behind the house - (first couple of photos are the missus camera and the rest from my shitty phone) Followed by a nice dinner, all home grown or caught - And the chooks got the scraps, so eggs for breakfast!
  5. Nice one ferret lady, you are not the first to raise said book, and i have looked at sections briefly. So these 'wild poleys' that you have taken, then domesticated, then bred from, further domesticating their offspring. . . . . . i suppose they do not become ferrets, as they are not subject to "changes caused by domestication"? Did your original breeding stock come from the U.K? Out of interest how do you tell that the jill you have (and her offspring) have strong hunting instincts? Just for reference i am not trying to start a fight with you, it's just an info gathering exerc
  6. They have not been deleted, they are sandwiched in the text. He does not answer how/why they work better. Which is not surprising really. . . . . . Aye there are plenty mate. . . . .and most of them are desperate to impress. No need to impress anyone, never mind some keyboard hunter that I have never met lol. The photo below is of the other night. Eighteen in photo and had another 5 later, all when you were banging away at the keyboard. ATB Steve Sure you ain't trying to impress??? To be honest mate i do enough ferreting and catch enough bunnies that i don't
  7. Just for the record here's a game for you - spot the difference.
  8. Seen the sire and dam mate. . . .. never said either of the parents to your pup were collies. . . . . .just said there was collie in that dog somewhere . . . . Look at the head an ears on it! (insert stick out tongue face)
  9. Bunch of f*****g morons, who i wouldnt trust to run a burger van, let a lone a country.
  10. I know mate, she looks a cracker, them collie x's mate excellent ferreting dogs. . . . And if she turns out no good at it. . . . i think there still may be a bright future for her -
  11. Through them in the bushes out of site like everybody else, what do you do?.. You know thats not quite right mate. The answer is. . . . . . Stand there beaming like an idiot, whilst taking numerous photos of the dead beast, and composing your next THL post. And then lob it in a hedge. Although before that i usually cut the tail off to scare children with. And i have promised my missus that i will skin them this year so she can make a coat. . . . .seriously, she's nuts.
  12. Alright Ideation, these particular ones were shot on a couple of small holdings that are next door to each other, and they both have chooks and both have lost some over the last few days.I have another two places close by as well that are having real trouble with chook killing foxes,so expect more of the same.....lots of dead cubs!! Martin Cheers for the reply mate, and crack on. I just always find it a bit difficult to understand when you see folk out on large arable farms, dropping cubs in July. . . . . . when all that is raised there abouts is wheat, corn, maize etc. . .
  13. Well, I wouldn't call it retarded. It seems almost every time I bother to read a paper there is another instance of ethnic minorities being put first. Remember that government day care place that turned away non minority children (I.E: White-British children) ? I'd call that an instance where the minorities were put before the natives. There are (providing the person has done research) many cases similar to the aforementioned. It's a fact that the government is being put in the spot-light on the world stage on their immigration policies, forcing them to consider their position, an
  14. That mate. . . . . is a stunning collie x. Credit to you.
  15. Thankyou very much Skycat (and Andy). That is the first time someone has taken the time to answer my question. I will say though, and this is not me being cocky, but i think i (and my ferreting partner) may have one of those lines of ferrets that he mentions in his first paragraph. To all intents and purposes, the ferrets we use, behave exactly like the polecat crosses that you/he describes. Strong, quick, never tire and work all day, every day come winter. Quite possibly, if my line of ferrets, were slow, or took a long time to kill or bully a rabbit etc, i may feel the need to in
  16. It just basically says, if you have a wild poley from the U.K, you probably have an animal from a long wild line of feral ferrets with maybe a bit of poley blood in them.
  17. ALl of my ferrets are pretty friendly, if there is nothing much going on they will make a line for me, and all of them enjoy having a bit of a fuss and tickle. But there are three that are different. My best working jill, has absolutely no desire for any kind of affection. SHe never bites, but when you pick her up she just keeps twisting and turning, her legs windmilling to get don and get on. As soon as she hits the floor she is casting about for scent and will head off at high speed following it, i have to jog to keep up with her. If i dropped her in the woods, she would f**k off qui

  20. Sounds lovely skycat, but it also sounds EXACTLY the same as my big, dark, poley hob FERRET, that i have here (the movement, body shape, markings). You are an intelligent woman who knows her animals. So can you be the one to FINALLY tell me how these 'wild poleys' work better than your standard ferret? I know they look nice, but how/why do they perform better at the job of rabbiting? Not knocking it, i just want an answer and i never get one, just told to stop moaning, if i dont want to buy one blah blah. All i'm interested in, is it's working ability . . . . . ????????
  21. How does it not add up????? I'm sorry i must be missing something. A ferret is a domesticated polecat, nothing more, nothing less. Simple. Selectively bred yes, but still bred down from a domesticated wild polecat. It's in the dictionary mate. That's just the way it is. And can you actually prove to me that they are genetically different (these 'true' wild poleys) than ANY ferrets out there? Or are you just taking her word for it? Can you explain to me how keeping it in a cage for a long long time and using them to hunt bunnies, has completely changed the ferrets ge

  25. Right, i will speak slowly. A FERRET, by DEFINITION, is a "domesticated polecat used to flush rabbits and rats from their warrens" and hence, if you domesticate a WILD polecat, and use it for the above purpose. BY DEFINITION, it is a ferret. Remember - originally there were NO ferrets, only wild polecats, and the ferret was created by domesticating them, and adding nothing else. You get me now? I'm not talking about whether 'wild poleys' are pure of have 'ferret' blood in them.
