  1. I don't think that's true at all, I think the vast majority of us do have a lot of respect for the things we hunt. The Anti's say things like that. The vast majority????? I think we have been living on different planets mate. It's a sad but true fact. Believe me, i wish it wasn't so.
  2. Swings and roundabouts. It is handy in that it brings folk together and you can search wider and deeper for what you want / need. Stud dogs as an example, way back, you used what you could find local, now some will scour the country. On the (massive) down side, the rise of phone cameras, facebook, forums etc have made it all a bit too visible, there are a lot of folk who SHOULD NEVER be allowed to speak for our sports in a public forum (in general not internet), they are an embarrassment and a liability. And also now it's just too easy, no need to work your way up and into the
  3. ALl this, it's up to you if you want this or that, etc etc, makes it sound like the dogman has any bearing on the hedge crashing? I'd love to know how that comes about. As far as i was aware, it was very much down to the dog and there is f**k all you can do to stop your hedge crashing dog, crashing hedges, other than not working it? I'd love a dog that got it just right and never got injured, wouldn't we all? But it's not my choice. D - what do you mean, that's the difference between LURCHERS and lurchers, does it make the dog better or more sensible when you put it's type in bold print
  4. I would consider a serious ferret breeder to be one who has a good working knowledge of genetics, and at least a basic knowledge of ferret genetics, plus is breeding toward his/her vision of the ideal ferret/polecat. Each breeding is carefully planned to produce better than the parents and the breeder plans to keep the best kit or kits. I wouldn't consider anyone a serious breeder who breeds multiple litters a year with no real thought given to the suitability of the mates to produce better than they are or any thought given to anything other than the current generation. IMO, someone who
  5. I also notice not one of you gave kx100 shit for killing hares in august in his post????
  6. I would have thought a hit man would know this?
  7. That has got to be one of the best quotes i've seen . . . . . You may well prove them all wrong mate, you may not, i'm leaning to the latter. Where have you seen this litter of collie x beddys??? Sounds like an accidental mating to be honest. Are the sire / dam, working dogs? If so, then the odd one out of the litter may well turn out a half decent ferreting dog, but probably not in comparison to line bred ferreting dogs. You know how much variety that litter may have? Your pup could end up as anything. Also breeding it with your collie/grey, the pups are going to have ve
  8. Our team is - a whippet, a 3/8 5/8 collie grey and a beddy/grey x bull/whip, they do what we need them to. We are also thinking of adding a beagle/Russell. Most of our ferreting also involves a lot of hunting up though.
  9. So it's the fecking crime of the century now, but in 12 days time it's all ok????

  12. Kay, I couldn't agree more! Inbreeding is invaluable for bringing out the recessive genes that both parents are carrying, both beneficial and deleterious, and geneticists advise doing it at least every 3 generations so that any harmful genes can be eliminated before they become widespread among the breeding population. Serious breeders should also be keeping complete records of what their breedings have produced, as well as tracking their kits after they are placed...something which seems to be very rare in the UK. Although i agree with what you are saying, i find the idea of a 'serious
  13. Sounds like a great moment mate, far too few folk appreciate the animals we hunt as anything other than something to kill. Good one you.
  14. If your knocking us breeding from show bred whippets mate then please feel free to come down here to see mine working. Both Vixen and Sagar are 1/2 show bred and i would sooner breed from a show bred whippet than a non ped with no stamina and nothing between the ears. As for telling someone to keep at it working an 8 month old pup, shouldn't even be running at that age. Let it be a pup ffs. I don't start mine until there ready usually at least 10 months old and then it's only a couple of runs a night. Sagar the pup i'm bringing on now is 13 month old ans he's been running about 6 weeks and
  15. I'm fascinated with these 'birth certificates' i mean i got one i just drew up here, says this years litter were sired by a silver back gorilla. . . . . . any takers?
  16. Average distance for driven pheasants 20 yards???? You for real???
  17. Hitting cover has it's ups and downs. I have a whippet here (oh no, not a bull x), who i pretty much only use daytime, and the land we hunt is very rough, lots of cover and obstacles. He will smash into anything after game. It has definatly increased his catch rate, he's often coming back out of the cover with what he was chasing in his gob, but at just shy of 18 months, he has been operated on under anesthetic twice, had more stitches than months on this earth, and still has not learnt. Lamped him a bit, and he is exactly the same, no reverse gear, which for a dog his size is a bit of a worry
  18. Aye lets just say that whippet with collie ancestry mate and knock it oan the heid lol hows yours getting oan ? Haha, knew i'd wear you down eventually. I'm not knocking her, if you ever decide you want rid, send her to wales! Aye, mine is no bad, got 4 working legs, which is a bonus considering, healed up pretty well, but you can see he feels it after some hard running, still faster than a lot of dogs though, and as i don't really lamp him it's no real hindrance. He's been picking up rabbits here and there over the summer on our mooches, but is still a headstrong little bugger.
  19. lol you wish !!! how can you say that ? all they are is what you say they THE BEST yeah right grow up !!!!!!!! it like saying my car is faster than yours quote BUT DO NOT EXECT IT TO BE CHEAP !!!! RIP OFF YOU MEAN !! DO YOU SALE WINDOWA AS WELL LOL Jesus fecking christ, has no one heard of sarcasm and taking the piss???
