the half bul 1/4 whippet 1/4 grey we had was brilliant lamp dog and would hunt through any cover and everything it produced seem to like the cover aswell.we introduced the whippet bull into our bull lurcher mix and the offspring to them have been exceptional over the years.we need the fast off the mark dogs that can also store an extra gear for when needed.. Aye, for a sight hound, the working whippets you get now, have excellent noses on them, also on the kind of land we hunt, there is usually not far for foxy to go before it hits cover, so fast reflexes and take off speed is a must.

You lot must be fecking bored. The lad wants to spend an age fencing in a big field, release a hand full of rabbits into it and then sit out of an evening and shoot the odd one. . . .. some will escape, some will not, he will have a bit of shooting, some may escape and provide others with a bit of hunting, but in general it makes f**k ALL DIFFERENCE TO THE LOT OF US! Stupid thing to do in my opinion - if they are trying to come out, let them, they are either not ready, there is nowt home, or something nasty down there. When a ferret is ready, and well bred, they should maybe sniff once or twice then fly down like a f*****g arrow.

Aye, could be so many things. Experienced rabbits won't bolt easy, or those with young, and we often find we have problems on very windy days.

This is my reply to a similar question before - Handle them a lot, get them used to you feet, the dogs, the nets, tubes, tunnels, the grass, going in the box, getting collars on. Pick them up from the mouth of tubes gently and calmly, so they don't mind your hand reaching for them at the mouth of a hole. Feed them and water them well, maybe introduce a whistle when you feed them. Do not starve them, thats stupid, pointless and cruel, and do not throw them live bunnies, it's also pointless, cruel and just weird. Enter them, in small, occupied warrens, maybe behind an expe

I am looking for one or two stop nets, about 10 yard long, maybe 20, just to use down the side of the hedges and on a few tricky spots, where a long net is way way way too much hassle, but i could do with stopping the odd runner. Anyone got anything to offer or any advice on where to get a decent one from, cheap?

Not read it all, but just to throw this in the mix. If you are breeding a half x, how many working greyhounds are out there? In comparison to the number of cracking working whips? I think that is often an important factor, get a whippet with a good nose, high prey drive and the right physical attributes (and as big as you can find) and put it to a well tested bull, and although some will throw heavy, you will get a few, really racy, heart like a lion, but now with a bit of bulk to back that heart up. Spun poly are excellent max mate, i get some good ones from albert64 on here. But you can't beat the odd big, light weight nylon net, for those awkward holes, they never fail to wrap the rabbit up, they are just a pain in the ass to set.

Alright numbnuts calm down. I didn't say i agreed, they are a bunch of morons and total scum. I heard three girls on the radio today talking about 'showing the rich we can just go in and take what we want'. . . . . they had robbed a load of wine from a corner shop! The point i was making was that these riots, despite being kicked off by a black guy, are f**k all to do with race, they are just about a load of scum bags of various colours, deciding to ride the band wagon and go loot jjb sports. The word 'best' sucks man pole. Longnetter makes some decent heavy ish ones. But i also like to keep a few light weight, large tanglers in the bag, no idea where they came from.
