  1. Same reason a lot of Irish call female ferrets 'does'. what the f**k has the irish and them calling female ferrets "does" got to do with it? There are a lot of confused folk out there and also names used for things vary depending upon where you are.
  2. Or woodland unless it's pine. Or the seashore To be fair i am going NO WHERE near a hedgerow with a purse net for another month or two, unless johnnyboy has been at it with the lopers first. Stop nets and dogs.
  3. I wouldn't give pain killers unless he REALLY needs it, all they do is make him think he is totally fine and he will use the leg as such and possibly make it worse. If it hurts, he is less inclined to put weight on it and will rest it, leading to it healing. Just my thought.
  4. Could well have been nicked mate. Then dumped. Get the tatoo number checked out.
  5. Same reason a lot of Irish call female ferrets 'does'.
  6. Any one want a cheap trackie, flat screen t.v or owt else, pm me. . . . .
  7. Looking a credit to you as usual mate.
  8. To be honest if it's going to need more than 100 purse nets, there has got to be a better way of doing it!
  9. I will be starting 1st September. But it won't really get to feel like 'proper' ferreting until we get a couple of frosts. Have done a bit when needed over summer, but only as a last resort, as it's often the least effective (for most work) method at this time of year.
  10. The bottom line is that the only reason you could need the blood, is because we have let the state of the ordinary working ferret go to shit in most cases. What makes folk think it's going to be any different second time around? Always hear folk talking about the amazing working ability of the e.u crosses, and what they say sounds like exactly how you should expect any ferret to work. So when folk tell me that they work way way better than any ferret they have seen, it just means that they have seen some really poor ferrets.
  11. Yes mate, bred my best jill this year, from a hob out of my ferreting partners best jill. Had 5 kits, gave 1 to a young lad we take out and kept 4. Loooking forward to testing them, but the way they are going i am feeling confident.
  12. Time wasters are the folk who ring up lots, ask lots of q's, arrange to come and see the pups, and then just fall off the face of the earth and never contact you again, or folk that ask you to keep a pup back as they will be up in a week etc, and then just never phone you again. Anyone, has the write to ask questions, and change their minds, but it's how you conduct your self when you do it, like if you decide the litter is not for you, just say that and leave, not make a bunch of false promises to the persons face. Mine you i'm sure plenty of folk have been to see some terrible pups,
  13. Pm Skycat on here mate, she know more about dogs than most, especially when it comes to tough situations and problems.
  14. Either i eat it, the dogs or ferrets eat it, or it's given out locally, mostly to the old folk who really appreciate a bit of game and have no way of getting it themselves. One tip with rabbit, get a pan, boil up some water and dissolve salt in it, let it cool, and leave the rabbit in it overnight in the fridge, the sale will draw out the ammonia in the blood and improve the taste, then just use it as you would use other meat. I eat a stupid amount of rabbit over winter, probably half my meals. Have it in stews, curries, spag bol, chillie, burgers, bangers, roast, bbq, anything reall
  15. Don't take it to heart... Whippets - as above Bull x - thick, slow, turn like a oil tanker, owned by chavs, have feet like ducks Collie x - too clever, pick their runs, jackers Beddy x - no good yappers all bred from non working terriers Saluki & their crosses - slow, plodding, untrainable, don't do recall, thick Greyhounds/grews - no stamina, too fast, bad feet, can't stop ..anybody see a pattern? The only cross you hardly hear anyone slag off on here is the deerhound cross.. Such is the way with working dogs. People like what they like & every

  19. Never spoken to folk who have ended up with stock killing dogs after doing deer, but have spoken to folk whose dogs kind of started looking at sheep a wee bit funny afterwards and you had to keep an eye on them. . . . . . i guess just when they started doing deer. And i don't mean the big flocks of slow white ones you get, but the raggedy black mountain sheep, bursting out of cover on their own.
  20. Define 'pocket rocket'??? Powells?
  21. Why in the world would there ever be a whippet vs bull x argument. Totally different dogs, for different jobs (although the foxing folk do get a bit upset when they realize that the humble whippet is capable of killing a redcoat). Folk like Dances are just morons. A f*****g kid, who jumps on the bandwagon, with f**k all knowledge of what he talks about most of the time. A laughing stock. Same old same old.
  22. Alright mate, not got a working ferret, but do have two well bred hobs off this years litter, if you get stuck and need to up your teams numbers. Like i said, not working ferrets, but will work well. Born 19th May.
