  1. Yes indeed - I stumbled on this footage myself last week..............spoiling an otherwise fantastic recording.
  2. How long did the first attempt last? Good to see it drying up and filling in.

    BBC

Because then the peelers would be be doing their jobs, apprehending law breaking criminals....................................................bloody shameful isn't it, when you look at the real scum out there that they should be following up, gggrrrrr!!!
  4. Poor lady......a real tradegy. For what reason does anyone need a collection of dogs like that? The photos in the paper show a very low flimsy gardens fence too.........I wouldn't fancy living next to that.

Are they like the RSPCA - do you have to let them in your house? Are they entitled to come in and look for tv sets or would they need to apply for a warrant and turn up with the police?

    BBC

yes, but in 100% of those cases people have signed a form and basically given the TVL their details. It is not a grey area, it is black and white, don't speak to them. As it happens I don't watch TV at all, or in fact, recieve a signal, but it applies to everyone. That's really interesting.............if you did not have a tv set but if you sneakily tuned into BBC iplayer on your laptop to catch up with Eastenders, what would they do? Would they know...............could they prove it via your IP address etc? If you denied watching BBC but admitted to watching Channel 4 and QVC how
  7. Thanks for putting the photos up - very interesting to see that suturing technique. It looks like the slits fill in very quickly.
  8. I'm glad I don't live there anyways....... I know its been on a lot recently but I tend not to listen too deeply to it. I think that Romney is creepy.......then then all politicians are? I have no respect for religious fanatics either. Do you think it really makes much difference to the bigger picture who wins?
  9. Interesting thread this................. Everyone, I bet, thinks of their dog as being 'well trained'......but what is a well trained dog to most people? Ask 50 people - get 50 different perspectives. What, in most peoples eyes, is a 'well trained dog' and what effort do they put into getting one? To me, dog training is an ongoing process throughout the dogs life.....selecting a suitable type, socialising a pup, basic commands, manners, going on to carry out tasks, reinforcing the correct behaviour, improving to the best of dog and handlers ability and keeping up the effort. I think a lot
  10. If you decide to take it up as a career etc, like everything else these days, it also involves insurance, health & safety, child protection issues etc...... Take yourself along to several different dog training clubs and see what different approaches they have. Something I have found is that professional dog trainers do not really train dogs.....they train people to train their dogs, so you would need to be right up their with your people skills and patience!
  11. Its' so frustrating...............but try very, very hard not to get cross.......When he does eventually come back, he must get lots of fuss or play with a ball or a bit of tasty treat, no matter how mad you are, otherwise he will have no incentive to come back.....especially if he knows that you are cross....I do believe they are very sensitive to sensing bad temper vibes. Also, when you practice, only ask him to do it a couple of times per day and keep it upbeat.....don't let it become boring for him. As you use him for lamping, it might help if you continue the training by taking him out
  12. Love the look of that wee bitch. Hope she does you proud!
  13. Good luck with it whatever it is! Put the time and work in and reap the results.
  14. Time will tell...........take it easy and see how it goes.
  15. When you say rice pudding - do you mean like Ambrosia creamed rice out of a tin?
  16. I feel sometimes injuries are best left until the next day and by that time the dog will have nibbled it away by itself - licking it to keep it clean in the process. Glad you are sorted now.
  17. Manchester Rambler (Ewan MacColl) I'm a rambler, I'm a rambler from Manchester way I get all my pleasure the hard moorland way I may be a wage slave on Monday But I am a free man on Sunday I've been o'er the Snowdon, I've slept upon Crowden I've camped by the Wain Stones as well I've sunbaked on Kinder, been burnt to a cinder And many more things I can tell My rucksack has oft been my pillow The heather has oft been my bed And sooner than part from the mountains I think I would rather be dead The day was just ending as I was descending By Grindsbrook, just by Upper Tor When
  18. Just had to bring this pic back up ....................definitely one of the best on THL!
  19. Is the pup 3/4 whippet or 3/4 collie?
