    A quote from my local council booklet on responsible dog ownership: Farmer's rights "The law presently states that if a dog is found unaccompanied in a field with livestock and without the landowner's consent, farmers are legally protected in shooting the dog on the spot. Likewise, if all reasonable attempts to restrain the dog have been taken the farmer is equally justified in shooting the dog." Sounds pretty much in favour of the farmer. I doubt any farmer is going to try to lassoo a loose dog if he can stop it with a gun. By the sounds of this I would be worried about more

    What age is the old lad? He still looks full of devilment! A neighbour of mine had one who was 18 -19 years old.

    FAO SAMBA "CLEAN YOU DOGS STOMACH WITH WASHING SODA"? Please clarify what washing soda is - is that not the stuff you you down sinks to cleanse drains etc? I wouldn't advise anyone to put that in thier dog - surely it is extremely caustic or am I thinking of the wrong substance?

    Go out and buy a crate ASAP. I was given mine to immobilise a young injured puppy - i couldn't believe how quickly she was clean in the house - much quicker than my first puppy who peed over the place for ages - I think it's just what they do. Also when you take you dog out to pee in the garden do it quitely, without fuss and pick a word to encourage your dog to pee on command. When you see the dog pee call out the chosen word and then tell it "good dog" and then interact with it as a reward.     I have worked with people who have had poor personal hygeine and it was very unpleasant. Especially if these people came into our heated office and then left - leaving a cloud of stink behind them!!! It was embarrassing if other people then came in, they may have thought that the stink was from me or my spotlessly clean co-workers!!! There is no excuse for dirtyness these days. Other than that, i'm sure we have all ate something without washing our hands first, we can't live in a sterile bubble.     I quite agree - no one is perfect with their spelling and grammer all the time, most folks can cope with reading the odd mistake as long as a decent stab has been made at it. What bugs me is that I think it is idleness and I reckon that a lot of it comes from young folk with a mobile phone constantly in their hand. Surely some of these young folk are still at school or not long left it and should be able to string a proper sentence together! Do you reckon that in ten years time the "Queen's English" will be replaced by text talk in schools?

    How old is your pup and have you changed its diet of late? When my dog was a pup its digestive system was rather 'delicate', she was always in good health, full of energy etc but had to have a very consistent diet. For example if it had a few licks of cows milk or a few scraps of bread crusts or any new type of food....disaster!!! Blood stained diarrhoea with the pup larking through it! I had to make sure no one slipped her any tit-bits as well. She settled down at about a year but even now I would still be careful. My other dog is a complete iron guts. Hope your dog is ok, let

    My dogs eat complete dry food and seem ok but........ Reading those links about ingredients of pet food makes me wonder what really goes into the human food chain. Does anyone eat cheap sausages or still feed their kids on 'chicken' nuggets or reformed rib steaks that they sell in the supermarkets etc? Food for thought? Maybe its just as well the dogs dont read the ingredient labels. Given the choice of bowl of dry or a fresh bone with 'bits' still on - I know which one the dogs prefer - they chew on the bone til their jaws are raw!!!

    Hello all I was sitting browsing the site at 11.30pm and I heard the front gate open. Living by myself, I'm a bit worried - who the hell would come calling at this time of the night? The two Jacks heard it of course and ran at the front door jumping up and going nuts! I slip into the living room to peep through the curtains just in time to see a figure approach the door, the letter box lifts, the dogs grab..... and begin to savage the local free newspaper!!! I look out the window at some eejit with a newspaper delivery bag over their shoulder running back toward the gate sharpish!!!

    If you had a terrier/s who was kept outside and barked a lot, really hacking off your neighbours and causing tension what would you do to help the situation? (Apart from having him surgically adjusted) From what I read on the internet this de-barking treatment seems to be common in USA.
