  1. been promising myself to sort the dog run and kenneling arrangments for a while. i have a 14 x 10 enclosed run and previously i had a wodden kennel and a feed shed in there. we're exposed to the weather and both kennel and feed shed had been looking a bit worse for wear despite not being very old. picked this kennel arrangement up locally. 5x3 x 4 foot high kennel and a 4 foot run that attaches to the front. very solid and made of recycled plastic and galv steel wire. the dog wont chew it so it should be ok. bloody heavy item and really solid. cost me quid but the original owner paid almost
  2. i reckon the collie crosses in the main, seem to be less in demand nowadays. i'm working a 3/4 grey / collie coming up 2 years old in july. he'll do for me.
  3. its no good just adding one vote. you can keep going back and doing it again and again. you can bet the antis will. just watch out though, the yes and no change positions. look before you press
  4. dont think panacur does tapeworm. drontal does
  5. I don't think anyone thinks it's a dead cert mate. I am definitely sitting on the fence. Not sure what the outcome will be. But it would be a shame if we are all sitting here in a few years saying "we could of done more to try". i'm with you on that gaz. i'll be writing to my MP
  6. much as i'm obviously hoping this stupid act is repealed i have a feeling it was stuck into the manifesto as a vote winner and the actual outcome may not be as we all hope. i'd be a very happy bloke to be proved wrong
  7. nice looking pup that socks. my merle 3/4 cross still tests my patience at nearly 2 years old. earned his place though and wouldnt be without him now
  8. had this problem myself with my 18 month old collie x last season. its difficult. i sort of cured it by not reacting to him and turning the lamp off and walking away. he twigged pretty quick and returned smartish. an injury and a few months laid up at the back end of the season will probably see this re occur in my dog. i put it down to the dog creating his own entertainment rather than seeing me as the source of the fun. i'm also sure that more trips out would see the dog retreiving better but i am limited in the times i can get out through early starts at work. its difficult as you dont wan
  9. nice looking pup that and a handy cross for bunnies. all the best with it.
  10. had this with a bitch years ago. they had tied but she carried on bleeding. everything went well dog whelped normally. a repeat mating if she'll stand wont do any harm though
  11. i run a 18 month old 3/4 collie grey that had problems retrieving. at the beginning of the season he was retrieving to hand then started to develop what i now think was a bit of a game. he was doing laps of honour with the caught rabbits and driving me nuts. i figured he was making his own entertainment and had found a new game which was only made better for him by me whistling and eventually shouting trying to get him back. decided i'd play him at his own game and change the rules a little. soon as he caught, instead of me waiting for him to come back, lamp was off and i was walking away .
  12. hope he recovers well kev. mine's been out a month after damaging his back foot. every time i've gone for my coat he thought he was going lamping on 3 legs. bloody dogs. atb mate
  13. a good dog man will make the best of any dog.
  14. the only odd one out there is the bushing. any lurcher or sighthound cross will deal with rabbits. a bushing dog is something else. seen a fair few whippets and lurchers that will hunt cover and knock up their own game but seen plenty that won't. i'd probably go a whippet bed .
  15. not for another week for me. dogs been laid up but he'll be back at it soon
  16. He's my type of dog, lot of drive but has a brain. Needs time to mature and get some game in front of him but has every chance. Give us a shout when u want a run out my way again. will do mate. not sure about the brain though he's back into some road work now after his little wimpy layoff. hopefully next weekend will see him ready for a bit of graft. he seems to have really steadied off of late. the last run out he did the business . this steadiness has carried on. his recall and obedience seems to be spot on. i've really bonded with the wall eyed fecker
  17. has to be my current dog. i've had a couple of very good working dogs over the years but i'm sure this one's gonna be something special. not sure why. he's a cnut at times and tests my patience, makes me look daft in company, but makes me try like fcuk to get the best out of him. he'll be around a while. i'm sorry i don't have a tale of 100 bunny nights or pre ban superstars.
  18. i have a plr400 from cluson. used it till about december i think then i did need to get the lazerlite back out. the days of humping batteries about must be numbered
  19. i think cree lamps are definitely the way forward. its only a matter of time until a cree lamp can match the power of a halogen. that time may be here with the k50 and it will be something i'll look at for next season.
  20. nice going davey. it'd be good to see some of that snow down here
  21. after a bit of a worry about buck smashing a toe or his wrist the panic's over. must have been a thorn but i've never seen anything swell so fast and put a dog off his feet. he's back on all 4 feet now and he'll be starting some road work tomorrow. he's only been out just over a week so he should be back on it soon.
  22. fag lighter connections are shite. either jack plug or bullet connections better. you can always buy an adapter if you need to use it from a motor
  23. appreciate your point and agree, but i'd rather kill a rabbit myself, have no use for retrieved dead rats and have no interest in reviving an old term that the hard of thinking minority may wish to revive and misuse.
  24. HJCK mentioned in adverts in the good old days . not a term i would ever use now for obvious reasons. same as RHFD .
