you know what Giro, a national working lurcher club probably would be the best way forward but that would take some kind of organisation. affilliation and recognition by CA etc would then be easier but like you say who to do it ?
-
not sure that most of us are negative but not sure i'd like to be a formal member of a club either. i find it much easier going about my business quietly and not drawing too much attention. i would however donate to the ca if they were to start representing lurcher work. mounted packs and hunts are only going to get any discretion and recognition based upon tradition and the role they fulfil in the countryside. we're never going to be seen in the same light. the only light i'd rather be seen in is the very edge of the beam when out lamping.

the CA will represent in the most effective and cost efficient manner. I dont think that will include the lurcher fraternity. whatever happens in terms of amendments to legistlation its not gonna stop folk working their lurchers ( and it never has ) but it would be nice to think we were a little more looked after. i've had running dogs for almost 40 years now and i cant remember a day apart from when i was a kid ( and didnt notice or care) that walking round with lurchers didnt provoke some kind of funny look or comment. i have some real good friends in the local hunt but there's still folk i

always had a lurcher and always shot. mainly shoot in summer but also rats and pigeons winter

to get both the lads together is a rare treat and they both enjoy lamping. considering the time off that the dog has had he slipped straight back into it but he's pretty fit and ready for the season. the ultra is mine and i told him to aim half way up it ears. instant lights out. i'll be trying to give buck more work this season but i have a few issues with him that need sorting.
-
been a long time since buck worked with knocking his foot up in early january but my lad arrived tonight on leave from the navy and wanted to go out. took both lads out , one had buck and the eldest lad took my ultra and i lamped. it was too warm really but lots of cloud cover so we went out about 10 to a local permission. the first one was a 51 yard shot with the rifle in a horse paddock then we went out into the fields. busk had 2 runs ( not many bunnies around) and the first just made the fence line . the second was a big old buck that took some skinning. he ran it well and picked it up

had some good cloud cover down here the last couple of weeks, rain too, but its still been too warm. i'll see what its like when this moon's gone down a bit.

cracking looking mutt kev. hope you get a good home for him

the amendments were only ever aimed at hunting with hounds. glad they'll get it. but no way on earth they were ever going to repeal it fully though. anyone who thought any changes would benefit the running dog lads is smoking too much of their own produce. keep on keeping on and keep it to yourselves.

anyone can donate any amount using this link. even a quid or 2 http://www.rockinghorse.org.uk/donate
-
there's over 56000 members on THL. if 10% of the members contributed a quid they'd have their money
-
fcuking evil bstards . how about the mods on here contact the folk for the appeal and get a link put on here form folk to donate ??? as a rule i dont believe anyone should have to rely on charity. we have a government that should look after folk. but get a link up and i'll stick in mostly just to spite the cnuts that stopped that fundraiser going ahead
-
yeah you're right with that. i suppose we can all bombard our local mp's but the're gonna go with the flow of the media. guess that puts it back in the court of the likes of the CLA and BASC to get busy. as for giving the wage rises to charity, that offends me more than accepting it. cheeky cnuts thats our taxes

cant see that being the M.O of airgunners. sounds more like a truckfull of lads with rimfires

the cnut still drags his bed out and lies out in the run in all weathers but the best quid i've spent in a long while -
its all fcuking smoke and mirrors. do any of you really think they give a flying fcuk what we think ? how did it get to the state we're in where a roomful of people decide our fate ? they're all pssiing in the same pot. and all going to get a 10% wage rise too

always wondered about folk saying myxi is introduced. other than dropping a myxd bunny into a burrow of healthy rabbits ( i know it can be spread by contact as well as fleas) i cant really see how . most fleas will have left the rabbit once dead and its a bit of a tall order hoping it will be spread by contact into a healthy population. cant just drop into the local agricultural merchant for a gallon of myx can you ? might be on the same shelf as a gallon of tb and a bag of foot and mouth .its something that just comes and goes i reckon with some areas affected worse than others.
-
Wicked disease myxi. On the whole more rabbits do seem to have more resistance. I have seen plenty of rabbits that look like they have recovered and carry scars . It will always affect some areas more than others. Areas with standing water are more susceptible as this is where the mozzies breed. Wetter years also seem to have more myxi as the rabbits seem to spend more time underground and it must transmit quicker. On one of my permissions, myxi is definitely confined to certain areas of the farm where other areas remain unaffected.

for the hard of thinking, its a place for my dog to kip. he's f***ing meant to be able to get out of it as its sat in a 14 foot by 10 foot enclosed run. i keep a 26" collie cross. there's room in that for me to kip with him. -
