  1. following giro's post on the future of working lurchers my blood was up yesterday and i emailed the CA. Tim Bonner actually replied. Below is the email i sent and his reply. Surely there's an opening here ????????????? anyone wanting to be copied in on this or taking up the mantle, message me your email address. from me to them "Hi. I am part of a thousands strong community that work lurchers legally in the UK. It is generally felt within our community that the CA do not represent the working lurcher fraternity and have more pressing public issues that are demanding their
  2. just read the "suffolk police hare coursing" post. though it may be crap it sticks. the antis do get plenty of publicity whether what they're spouting is true or not. thats where we fall down as a community. we sit back , say feck all and let it happen to us. its like not being arsed to vote and then complaining about the government. do feck all and all we deserve is what ever someone decides to do to us.
  3. same ol same ol. trouble is we sit back and let em slate every branch of working dog sport and do nothing. and yeah when enough shite is spouted it sticks like it or not. see giro's post "the future of working lurchers". i've always kept myself to myself but the longer we just accept this b*ll*cks the worse its gonna get for anyone working a lurcher. what it needs is someone to stand up for us collectively. the longer we just skulk about in the shadows , they'll end up criminalising us all.
  4. make sure you check the piston head. known for burning out and then not sealing causing poor power
  5. It should hAve said above, is it too late to try this again ?
  6. Is it too late to try this again ?Maybe the CA focuses the mag and suchlike on the people who are in the CA. It's hardly going to fill the mag and website with lurchers when there are practically no lurcher owners in it..... Get 500 lurcher owners to join up and i can guarantee there'd be more pics and articles for them. There's many thousands of lurcher owners out there.....but I bet you'd never even manage to recruit 100...no 50 even.....too many want a free ride.... We will go round in circles until it's too late.....sadly. The sad thing is Darcy, we dont have to go round in cir
  7. subaru forester. bulletproof engines and permanent 4wd with a high and low box. i've had 2 foresters and 2 jimnys. jimny ok for playing in the mud but the forester beats it hands down on all round useability and just as good off road
  8. welcome . the ultra is a cracking rifle. i have the SE in .177. the mounts may be an issue as may a dirty barrel. They can be all oiled up when new. give it a pull through with some gun cleaner and a patch. With the mounts, the standard mounts seemed to cant over so i switched to BKL mounts and much better. they also prefer a bigger pellet head. i use jsb in 4.53 in mine.
  9. bloody cost me last season. slipped the dog in a field i didnt know and he ended up out of it for 3 months . knocked his foot up big style.
  10. its a shame when a planned night out gets skittled but surely thats how we all started anyway. i do well for permission now but some years ago the only permission i ever had was from the wife. even now i'll still shine over the hedge.
  11. mine gets chicken carcasses, lamb ribs ( nice and fatty) and i also feed skinners duck and rice kibble. if he's looking a bit lean i mix hard beef fat in with his grub ( usually after working him) . get down to a big butchers ( that actually butcher carcasses ) and they'll have plenty they want rid of free.

  13. maybe not you mate and certainly not me. i use 2 fingers too. but there are some folk that could and with the support of others may do. why a website though we're sat here with a forum for the very thing we want to promote ? use this one. maybe a restricted area on here One of the reasons for a website dedicated to the working dogs is that it would not need to be private it could be an open public site to give as wide an audience as possible the information that appears to be lacking in the public domain. We no doubt would have the antis flooding on but we are not ashamed of our interests

  15. there is that. but every bite they take out of the heels of these fox hunting meets and coursing clubs is a bite closer to moving onto the small time rabbitter dont you think? and they'll never stop. shooting, horse riding , fishing . every fecking sport that involves any animal in any way.
  16. thats where my thinking started (keep in the shadows) but i thought again. I know we'll just keep on keeping on regardless but in doing that we can also watch things fall to bits around us. Legal lurcher work is just that LEGAL. A properly set up club should be able to protect its membership and promote our interests.
  17. can someone get a post / poll put up asking members on here directly if they would join and pay to join a working lurcher club to promote our interests. it would have to be worded properly though along the lines of Sandymere's comments above and other stuff ? and make it a sticky !!
  18. Giro, as I said ages ago, that was just an amendment NOT a repeal. We only have one go at a repeal, so we'd better make sure we'd win it. otherwise there is no point. People started getting confused with the amendment and a repeal, but they are two entirely different motions. The CA does support lurchers. But if anyone thinks they can wave a magic wand and overturn the ban they are deluded. It's a long and rocky uphill road. The only things that will help lurcherwork are unity and money. With due respect mate. I know the difference between a admednent & repeal.. I'd like to see both.
  19. i'd rather stick my money and support with a working lurcher club that was affiliated to CA rather than just hope they would promote us. Unity has to be the key. And i think folk would join a specific club / organisation. The hunts survive because they are integrated in countryside communities. They control vermin and fallen stock feed the hounds at a much reduced cost to the hide and skin merchants. They stick together and survive / thrive. We need to adopt the same principles. What we do for farmers is also appreciated and could be utilised in the same way .
  20. there must be room on THL for a sub forum to use as a base. membership for access, members by recommendation, etc etc
  21. there's a lot of well respected blokes on here that could make this work and plenty like me who would follow that lead and stump up for membership. you lot need to get talking and sort something out. Has to be good for all concerned.
  22. i could do with speaking to an admin on here. who admins the forum ? cheers
  23. now this is 3 well respected users of this forum making good sense ( Giro, Sandymere and Desertbred) . With the right folk heading something like this i'd definitely be in. Surely this is the perfect forum to start something like this ?
