Can a country ever be truly independent.... Every time you join an organisation, ratify a trade agreement etc etc you are ceding sovereignty. The simple act of 'union' (in whatever form) can be beneficial, some more so than others. I think this tends to be oversimplified with one liner arguments. For whatever reason they want union with the EU and independence from the UK. The value of each union is really in the detail rather than such simple things as "we want independence". Even if they wanted part of neither, they'd still want to be part of other arguably less authoritative 'unions'

Thanks for your input CJ. I might have to buy it. Have you read his book on the 'American Serengeti'? That might not quite be the actual title. I think it ties in to an interesting and ambitious project to re-establish the American prairie ecosystem that will rival that in Africa! They've raised so much money but hardly any following in the media.

Yes that is what happened apparently at first. But now because killing coyotes makes the females produce more pups there are actually more coyotes than before. It's an amazing survival mechanism and quite unique. I watched the whole podcast. Its said that the wolf was basically exterpated from the West (US) in about 10 years such was the ease. Whereas man has tried to do the same with the coyote for near a century and only managed to spread it's population! Because of how they are biologically programmed to respond to individuals being killed. Its quite remarkable. Also due to this a

Also they reckon that now there are more coyotes in Yellowstone as there were before wolf rewilding. Not something often stated when environmentalists reference the Yellowstone rewilding project.

Found this behaviour really interesting. Brings into question accepted predator control strategy of coyotes and has implications on conservation strategy for red wolves.

Do people routinely hunt proper wild boar (not feral hogs) with catch dogs anywhere? On the continent it seems they mostly use hounds if hunting or just bushing types if pushing to guns. I'm now going to google the range of Wild Boar! ha Edit: Dogo's in Patagonia maybe?

They don't test NOx or COx right? Just particulates (smoke)? I'm told EGR blanking helps with a cleaner burn.....

What's the future of the North Sea looking like now the Brent price has considerably recovered? Last I looked (when it was bad) something like 70'000 of the workforce had been laid off and the UK tax revenues had gone from something like 12B to a couple hundred million! I was at a petrophysics conference on Tuesday and there was a few papers on a "huge discovery west of Shetland" but I wasn't present for any of those and it's a bit beyond my area of interest.

Maybe a subspecies? Because there's definitely more than on black rhino left. The last male northern white rhino died recently. Still plenty of southern white's though. Africa's human population doubles every 30 years and the continent is f***ing massive and able to support continued growth for some time. Expected to hit 2 billion in 20 years! That's the problem conservation has to consider and as you say will put enormous pressure on Africa, a unique ark of Earth's mostly extinct mega fauna.

Is this technology basically hydrogen fuel enhancement?

The only families that really struggle to send their kids to Uni are the middle class. From the age of 18 your education should be 100% your own financial responsibility imo. Loans should be available to all students, no matter their family income or wealth. As things stand a prospective University student from a low income family has the financial support and tools to fund their education. I graduated with no financial support from my family and without having to work a job. The fees have increased since then but the level of support through loans etc available still makes it perfec

Absolutely wasn't questioning your honesty or integrity mate. I took your word as the truth but at the same time noticed the head/jaw had suffered some trauma. Good shooting.
-
Not quite as diplomatic as I'd have tried to word it, lol, but I generally agree.
-
Lovely buck with a very interesting head. What's going on with his jaw? Is it an injury or just blood splatter that makes it look that way?

I've got a plan to do a 3 week tour of the West and pacific coast. I've only looked at the basic logistics, not the details yet. Basically start in San Francisco or San Diego, for a couple nights, then car rental for 2+ weeks is about £500, then do a >2000mile trip hitting a variety of monuments and national parks on the way to probably Seattle for another few nights before flying home. Cheap motels and camping along the way. There's a lot I want to see over there, still wont get to see it all but I don;t reckon it'd be too expensive that way.

“The three safety mechanisms are automatically disengaged one after the other when the trigger is squeezed, and are automatically reactivated when the trigger is released. This passive safety system omits the manipulation of traditional on-off levers, hammers, or other external safeties as found in many other handgun designs.” Also, I don’t think the weapon fired when dropped. The fella grabbed at in to pick it up with zero care and negligently pulled the trigger.
-
Not conventional ‘safety catch’ no. If you pull the trigger, it goes bang.

I'm sure there are rich people who got rich by selling tickets to their seminars about how to get rich! Don't get me wrong, there are some things and ways in life that are just toxic and so long as you carry on that way you won't achieve shit. They are lessons worth knowing and reflecting on I think. But listening to these charismatic type trendy millionaires giving a monologue pep talk for a 60 second youtube seminar makes me want to gag. "Just f**k off ya wanker!"

If I was to start over, I think I'd have liked to have studied biology and found my way into Fish and Wildlife or similar. Not sure what roles are available but that sort of thing is more interesting to me these days than what I am trained in is now. Sorta similar really, I don't live for it but I've gotten to do some stuff that I like. Peer reviewed author, got published patent and another one just filed for, get a bit of travel which I now want more and more of. I shouldn't complain too much. It's a job, it pays the bills but I ain't winning any awards for 'most thrilling and adventu

I don't know if it exists. LOL That job that Jeremy Renner's character in Wind River does looks good. Predator hunter in Wyoming for US Fish and Wildlife Service. A back-country hunting guide would be good. Working for a scientific research organisation that spend a good chunk of their time in far flung adventurous places also sounds close.

Hell of an accomplishment that campaign. I really enjoy reading about it. It was an event eagerly watched by the entire world and no doubt partly shaped global politics over the following years.
-
Politically suicidal. Might not be once the cull has been rolled out nation wide, the science is conclusive and the public are used to it though...
-
15 quid last year, 20 this coming September.
-
Not sure if I've read that wrong but all previous annual culls have been much less than 50 quid a badger to my knowledge.
