  1. Sounds like the market has conspired against me to reduce your lots premiums.
  2. Mine was 400 fully comp last year, everything the same this year and they want around 650! Best the market can offer is 510 with like 700 excess! First year I've seen it increase for me. I can only think that my neighbourhood has turned even more feral than I realised... LOL
  3. Anybody noticed a massive hike this year? My renewal was around 150% of last years fee. Done the old comparethemarket.com and the cheapest is still 125% of last years fee! And that's with much higher excess too. Exactly the same inputs only my car is a year older, less valuable and a year more no claims..... WTF
  4. Yeah, I find it very difficult to allow my heart to rule my head. But the morning I walked down the stairs while away staying with a mate stalking and seeing Trump elected I remember the smile and joy it brought to me. It was different to the friday morning after the Brexit ref, that morning I was amazed and a little anxious. Which brings me onto drawing parallels with the brexit saga. Last week I was talking to a colleague that voted remain and he basically only did it because he was concerned about rocking the boat too much "why take the risk?". Now, if there was another vote, I honestl
  5. Errrr we're British fella..... bloody European!
  6. I'm not sure I would have voted for Trump as he just wasn't a honest decent sort of person, like at all even trying to be, lol, I couldn't trust or respect him even enough to be a politician. But I saw Hillary as more of the same progressive deterioration of the foundations of America. She wasn't good, or bad, just 'meh'. So who knows.... I'm glad I didn't have to make that decision which I admit is probably a big cop out. Especially considering the euphoria I felt seeing him elected! LOL. Like a dirty great torpedo in the port side of an 'unsinkable' obnoxious establishment ship, watching tha
  7. I'm sort of and sort of not surprised but this president seems to have really reinforced peoples partisan-'ness'. Folks are even less open minded now than ever before imo. Absolutely blinded by either hate or idolisation.
  8. You realise the capability of the US military right? I mean they could have more force deployed to East Asia by the end of the week than any other country could manage in a year. Pulling up some force is utterly meaningless in real military terms but extremely meaningful in diplomatic ones. What Trump got was gentlemanly respect which is potential in any business minded negotiation/relationship. It may all collapse, so I'm not backing his Nobel prize yet, but ultimately that will mean f**k all as the administrations strategy reverts to isolation, defence of regional allies and potent
  9. How so? Do you think that if progress ends then the US strategy will not revert? What has been achieved is a gentlemanly respect on either side with an agreement on the objectives of this new relationship. Nothing tangible has changed, but a lot in terms of potential. If you can't see the significance of these two heads of state literally being brought to 'the table' then I'm really going to struggle to explain it to you. If we want to talk about justice for the acts he has committed then we have to consider this rehabilitation rather than retribution. Retribution in this case i
  10. It does make me laugh though to think what Trump's base would be saying if Obama/Clinton had done this. Be along the lines of exactly what Chris is saying about letting a dictator with crimes against humanity on his record get off the hook. It's a valid position but other than the likes of Chris, I'm not convinced many would feel the same if it wasn't Trump in the driving seat.
  11. Do you think that is compatible with peace through diplomacy though mate? Any hint of future accountability and the NK regime will hold on to and continue to develop it's only credible defence system. As far as I see, the players in this game have two choices; accept the NK regime for what it is and give them a free pass, allowing them to transition from their position as a nuclear lone wolf to much greater ties with China and Russia OR bomb the f**k out of them. If I was Kim I'd be wanting some very significant economic insurance in the form of great investment from major regio
  12. Wonder what comes after free speech in the Bill of Rights.... Clever folks them founding fathers.
  13. That's the beautiful thing though mate, reason always wins out! It's happening right now. Democracy isn't instant. When UKIP and Farage came on the scene respectable Joe Bloggs tarred him all sorts, used him as a meme for racism. Only ever referred to in ridicule. Then over a decade his reason started to be realised. I've literally seen that progression on real people. In public debate not responding with a reasoned counter argument will destroy your position and you know it is doing, they're f***ing themselves and the quiet audience are seeing it.
  14. Yeah but but free speech encourages and normalises this. Look at this study that proves violent hate crime rises when you let these nasty right wingers talk publicly. Ban em all! f***ing yawn.
  15. Its just an utter non issue to me mate. Extremists clutch on to more mainstream movements every single time one crops up. Whether he is or isn't is neither here nor there and thinking it is is either ignorant or negligent. It's just more of the same from the modern liberal Left.
  16. Im not convinced he wasnt waving to someone when his back went, leaving him rigid daring not move. Just look at his expression.
  17. But Nazi's aren't taking over and expelling the tolerant. They won't take over either so long as we, as a society, can have reasoned debate in the public forum. THAT is the virtue of free speech. As things stand, all shades of Right are using the attack of their freedom of speech to actually appear liberal ffs! The modern liberals and their new type of fascism are literally making f***ing Nazi's the bastion of classical liberalism! PS, for all the moderate Right reading this. I'm not accusing everyone protesting their freedom of speech etc as being Nazis. I am a strong p
  18. Not that i need to tell you but there's a very good reason it's your first right. Together with democracy the two are symbiotic and dependent. Arguments that some political opinions/ideologies should be rightly intolerable in liberal democracy IMO fly in the face of the very concept. If something is so intolerable to society then it will be expelled in the public forum with the weapon of free speech. If it's labelled by the establishment as intolerable but is not so easily vanquished then if you are at all a proponent of democracy you have to ask if the ideology/opinion is truly against t
  19. The words of a fella who doesn't seem to believe in virtue of reasoned debate or in fact democracy. If the Tolerant weren't idle and used their freedom of speech to challenge the intolerant his whole premise collapses. If though, even then, the alleged 'intolerant' win the debate then you are forced to re-evaluate whether it's in the interests of democracy to be 'intolerant' of intolerance.
  20. Not to mention MoD orders are usually slashed due to budget anyway. It's a f***ing miracle we're getting eight! Never mind a yet to be decided quantity of 31s too. If that qualifies as being cheated to any of you north of the wall then that's fine. But let's make sure the facts are presented.
  21. What exactly, word for word, was the promise? Yes, eight Type 26 frigates are ordered and the remaining to be replaced with cheaper general purpose Type 31, which to my knowledge is sooooo far in the distance the MoD haven't even decided how many they want. The national ship building strategy is based on modular build for cost effectiveness, yes you won't be building the entire ship. Just shows how rabid you lot are that you would rather see the countries defence, purse and potentially Scottish ship building weakened just to score a cheap political point. It honestly wouldn't matter to yo
  22. All the oil money! Duh! For years pilfered, nay stolen, by the English! In for a penny, in for a pound!
  23. So is the Royal Navy! They haven't built one yet, never mind 13. Besides, have you not heard of the Type 31? Stop twisting the truth.
  24. Can a country ever be truly independent.... Every time you join an organisation, ratify a trade agreement etc etc you are ceding sovereignty. The simple act of 'union' (in whatever form) can be beneficial, some more so than others. I think this tends to be oversimplified with one liner arguments. For whatever reason they want union with the EU and independence from the UK. The value of each union is really in the detail rather than such simple things as "we want independence". Even if they wanted part of neither, they'd still want to be part of other arguably less authoritative 'unions'
