    Mine was 400 fully comp last year, everything the same this year and they want around 650! Best the market can offer is 510 with like 700 excess! First year I've seen it increase for me. I can only think that my neighbourhood has turned even more feral than I realised... LOL

    Anybody noticed a massive hike this year? My renewal was around 150% of last years fee. Done the old comparethemarket.com and the cheapest is still 125% of last years fee! And that's with much higher excess too. Exactly the same inputs only my car is a year older, less valuable and a year more no claims..... WTF

    Yeah, I find it very difficult to allow my heart to rule my head. What has been achieved is a gentlemanly respect on either side with an agreement on the objectives of this new relationship. Nothing tangible has changed, but a lot in terms of potential.     It does make me laugh though to think what Trump's base would be saying if Obama/Clinton had done this. Be along the lines of exactly what Chris is saying about letting a dictator with crimes against humanity on his record get off the hook. It's a valid position but other than the likes of Chris, I'm not convinced many would feel the same if it wasn't Trump in the driving seat.

Any hint of future accountability and the NK regime will hold on to and continue to develop it's only credible defence system.     That's the beautiful thing though mate, reason always wins out! It's happening right now. Democracy isn't instant. When UKIP and Farage came on the scene respectable Joe Bloggs tarred him all sorts, used him as a meme for racism. Only ever referred to in ridicule. Then over a decade his reason started to be realised. I've literally seen that progression on real people. In public debate not responding with a reasoned counter argument will destroy your position and you know it is doing, they're f***ing themselves and the quiet audience are seeing it.

    Not that i need to tell you but there's a very good reason it's your first right. Together with democracy the two are symbiotic and dependent. Arguments that some political opinions/ideologies should be rightly intolerable in liberal democracy IMO fly in the face of the very concept. If something is so intolerable to society then it will be expelled in the public forum with the weapon of free speech.     The words of a fella who doesn't seem to believe in virtue of reasoned debate or in fact democracy. If the Tolerant weren't idle and used their freedom of speech to challenge the intolerant his whole premise collapses. If though, even then, the alleged 'intolerant' win the debate then you are forced to re-evaluate whether it's in the interests of democracy to be 'intolerant' of intolerance.

    Can a country ever be truly independent.... Every time you join an organisation, ratify a trade agreement etc etc you are ceding sovereignty. The simple act of 'union' (in whatever form) can be beneficial, some more so than others. I think this tends to be oversimplified with one liner arguments. For whatever reason they want union with the EU and independence from the UK. The value of each union is really in the detail rather than such simple things as "we want independence". Even if they wanted part of neither, they'd still want to be part of other arguably less authoritative 'unions'
