Runner strangled mountain lion after animal attacked him,

I dunno about sloth bears but your comment on tigers does remind me of Jim Corbett's comment. He reckoned that tigers were pretty safe and straightforward but it was the leopard that was most dangerous. Cant' remember the exact quote and I haven;t got his book to hand to share it. It's interesting. -
Ignorant cowards. Utterly contemptible pieces of shit who's conscience is shielded only by their own wilful ignorance. Something about a pretty blonde killing that really upsets the antis. A regular hairy arsed bloke killing doesn't provoke their anger in quite the same way.

Fair enough mate. It took me a while to emotionally prepare myself to part with the cash.

Was always put off chasing the big money in London because of not getting the sort of quality down time I need. Maybe I was wrong after all. Probably get more sport down there than up here!

I've got one and recommend it highly! For extended hunts in challenging terrain it's totally worth the price. Essentially replaces a daysack, sling and bipod in one and does the job better than any sling will. For the price most pay for a pair of decent boots.

Brilliant. Even better he tried to get out of it and you f****d him again. Gives you a bit of faith in the system.

I’d be fairly chuffed with myself personally. -
So I went for the Altbergs. They just fit me better than anything else I’ve tried. These new one, middle, are the best ever. They’ll be the only boot going to NZ with me.

Yep! The thing they're conveniently overlooking is that 'black man' was the only description of the attacker, so in his anger he went looking for an excuse to kill someone who fit that bill, probably hoping that they were the actual rapist. If his poor female victim friend had said she was raped by a fat white fella in a hoody I'm quite sure Neeson would have gone round looking for some lowlife white chav. This is a right load of old bollocks. Absolutely defining of the 21st century unfortunately.

Anybody that knows the score can see exactly what's going on. The criminality of it though I'm not sure. Be much less to worry about if there was a loud bang just after matey ran out of view.

Get something you don't want. If you get something vaguely workable, you'll probably end up working it, it'll bond with you more than her and you'll be back to square one with a dog you only half wanted. lol

Also, yeah one thing we do thoroughly is larsen trapping. We'll take about 40+ magpies and 15-20 crows every spring off of about 1500 acres. Foxes get hit hard too but it's not foxy land. On a good year we'll kill 20+. I've run tunnel traps before and killed weasels and rats but not enough to worry me too much and it's a pain in the arse for me to do frankly. But if circumstances changed I'd like to run a proper tunnel trap line through spring.

If you're thinking of rearing mate then read GWCT advice. They've studied releasing a number of different ways, it's worth a read. https://www.gwct.org.uk/research/species/birds/grey-partridge/grey-partridge-releasing-experiment/ But whatever you do, they make for a nice addition, when a covey suddenly explodes out of set-a-side and over a hedge towards the Guns. French just don't compare for excitement imo.

Few more for ya

Shot three actually but can’t quite see him. Yeah we release a few hundred but never get more than 10% return. We have a fairly stable wild population anyway and it’s a pleasure seeing them produce young coveys. I’m of the opinion released birds do f**k all for conservation of the species and I believe the GWCT research supports that strongly. But they are a pleasure to have around no doubt and we do why we can for the wild stock! I’d like to see them shot over pointers one day.

Yes, at the time that reaction was racist. But that's not what he's getting shit for. He's getting called a racist now. When he's explicitly stated it was a regrettable time of his life and he knows it was wrong. Lol, it's being called white privilege that he dares to even openly be sorry about an historical moment of racism! f***ing mental.
-
Have I got this right? In an interview he referred to a time in his past that he explained he regretted, a time when he wanted to be attacked by a black fella so he could justify killing because a friend of his was raped by an unknown black fella. Seems a very understandable reaction tbh. I'm not saying it's sensible but rage rarely is. It's just a very honest personal account from his past. f**k all racist about it.

I've got a couple pairs of their waterproof trousers. For the money, it's brilliant! I'll wear the single skin ones with a synthetic base layer in torrential rain and end of day I'm not even damp under. But I don't wear the insulated ones until the temps are freezing because it's sweaty as f**k. I'm not really interested in their jackets, I'd rather spend considerably more on a jacket personally but I'm sure they are also very good value. Think my bottoms cost like 25 and 40 quid respectively. Def recommend.

I work with a team of electrical engineers, any of which could do this in a weekend. But they're a strange bunch and trying to enlighten them to the ways of terriers is more effort than it's worth. This isn't a big project for such a person and I doubt there is any significant intellectual property patents still valid to cause problems. The concept of locating terriers or ferrets etc with radio signals has been around well over 20 years.

A competent R&D electrical engineer would have the ability to design and build a collar to work with market avalanche locators no bother. Sounds like a decent side business for that person.

Our season has been a bit of a washout and hardly anyone turned up for the last day. So with four guns and three beaters we had a walked up day with a bit of roost shooting. Much prefer it to the more formal driven day! I think I finished on ten head, mixed, with over ten miles covered. Here’s most of mine.

Brilliant stuff. Cheers. Also, I'm going to enjoy having a dig around that website. Totally new one to me.

What is it they sell in Bass Pro? I'm sure they are Dukes. I wasn't impressed with the quality compared to BMI personally when I handled them in 2017. I'd intended to buy a load but decided against it on inspection. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/duke-traps-body-gripping-traps

Ain't that often true, to a degree, of labs in general. Which is brilliant on a drive where you're tripping over birds in light cover. All you really want to do is move them to the flushing point, business like. But when you're having to hunt hard for a small bag in unkept country those wild little f****r with big tabs are utterly priceless!

I had considered that. However, my hat size doesn't change. New 'ens at 7 1/4 always fit nice.
