  1. Failure means you can't do any more reps in that set. Lift as much weight as you can with good form and in a safe manner for the number of reps/sets you want to do (experiment to find this). Your form will start to go before you hit total failure and therefore is a safe margin. You don't want to be pushing yourself too hard to begin with anyway. Going hell for leather will make descending the stairs the next few mornings perilous! Your body needs to get used to resistance training, tendons and joints need to toughen so concentrate on form, learning the lifts, learning how you body feels w
  2. I've never wanted to compete or take anything seriously, just did what I liked for personal growth. It's amazing how a handful of deadlifts can leave you just, well, 'dull' for days. I reckon I got sick more often too. This higher volume stuff I'm convinced has made me stronger marching up hills etc which I found a bit non-intuitive. Frankly the heavy PLing type stuff sapped my energy level but this regime seems to energise me. Maybe I've got my diet in a better place these days too. Anyway the only reason I'm waffling on about this is because I've seen anecdotally on myself how slee
  3. Up until about 12-18 months ago my lifting was centred around low rep powerlifting, then for some reason I started doing higher volume, high rep, light weight/plyo stuff and I reckon in every respect other than 1rm it's better for me. I feel fitter, less fatigued and aesthetically better.
  4. LOL totally agree, no matter what, we absolutely MUST maintain an independent and effective military force. Likewise that's why I believe the EU will want one, NATO only serves part of their defence interests. FYI France became full members again in '09.
  5. A couple hours before he decided he was old enough to start work. Accident not to be repeated until autumn but couldn’t have asked for a more positive first encounter. Be nine month old in a few days and holding at 14lb.
  6. On that topic, sleep is probably the biggest performance enhancer that 90% of people neglect.
  7. Not me that put you onto that mate but an interesting watch all the same. Cheers for posting.
  8. Be a bit unfortunate if a couple hundred working lurchers, terriers and gundogs turned out. At 9 quid a go there'd need to be a low fence somewhere mind.
  9. Totally agree! Hence it was a red line for me. But equally I don't believe for a minute they have the stomach for war so seeing them have their own unified sovereign force imo would make europe safer and give us a tidy buffer too.
  10. Mate, I'm just pointing out why I believe the EU will move for a sovereign military. What I see as a statement of fact more than my personal opinion. If I wanted our forces in it I would have voted to that end.
  11. A strong neighbour is better than a weak one is my point. As an ally we would have the choice of whether or not our national interests are aligned with the EU's and hence whether or not our men and women should die to protect them. As a member of the EU and with a properly integrated military we would not.
  12. Also, don't the Chinese have a big strategy for reestablishing the 'silk road' trade routes? Trade routes NEED to be supported by hard military power! Trade agreements are very risky without a military insurance policy. That insurance would be a hell of a lot more potent underwritten by a sovereign EU force than it would the EU-27.
  13. Be a much easier sell these days than 10 years ago too. Isolationist rhetoric from the US (US protection ain't so certain anymore), Brexit (no longer an annoying UK veto on integration), weakened European defence budgets (a single integrated force is mightier than the sum of the parts), rising tensions between major international powers (the threat is there). I'm certain it's coming. And fair play, I'm all for it. Just not with us a part, but an ally!
  14. POWER! lol Genuinely though, it's an essential part of being a legit political power. If you can't command/organise your own military then you can't 'protect' your interests. NATO has it's own interests and objectives, largely influenced by the US.
  15. Just want to say though. I absolutely believe that over the next 50 years the EU will push for military integration and a supreme command, which is essential for them to operate properly as a political power. That was an absolute red line for me and given how entwined we are already it would become more and more difficult to resist as time goes on.
  16. EU! Gov just rolled over for em.
  17. I assumed it was an April fool until I read he posted on Friday. I can believe it though. Some forces make up their own rules and you don't need any special info to build up an intelligence report on someone so active these days. Folks are very easy to find.
  18. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/new-european-union-naval-fleet-announced-british-warships-to-take-part/ This is outrageous!
  19. And some folks on other threads mock those who say they can't speak freely for fear of their licenses being revoked.... Hopefully UD takes some time to reassess the use of social media and comes back to contribute with a more 'cautious' attitude. Not that I'm suggesting he does anything illegal or illegitimate but these days society is not so understanding or forgiving. It's f***ing shit.
  20. Rogan talks about it a bit on his JRE podcast. He swears by it. Then again he was pushing nootropics as well and I reckon they’re as near as damn it snake oil. Trt/hrt is a very interesting topic.
  21. It's Bulwell ....... the knuckle dragger will probably turn up to the station with a bat.... just for sport!
  22. Would you mind sticking a pic up mate?
