You're right max, but then that's what politics has turned into these days. They've all embraced that culture. Mad to think that only a few years ago the thought of a politician using twitter etc as a serious campaign tool was totally ridiculous. Then along comes Trump and it'd be ridiculous to even attempt to be a serious political figure without the social media fanfare now! There's been a paradigm shift!

Sorry folks. I'll f**k off and maybe he'll go quiet.

Here you go again. Silly little digs. I seem to attract bitter infatuated weirdos on this site. We just call em terriers and they come hard as well as soft. This stuff isn't particularly hard and neither would I want it to be.

It's hard to believe you have such a hard on for me.

Personally I'd expect my dog to be on the job immediately. The little fella a bang on with mallard and in water. Made for it.

My old lurcher was a wanker for that sort of thing. Pathetically sensitive. Seems to get worse the more sighthound in a dog. I like real trusting dogs that even in pain trust you. It makes them so easy to administer first aid and work with imo. Some dogs give little to no warning and just attack and I'm not convinced that these dogs haven't had a bollocking for all the warnings they have given in the past and learnt to tolerate such things until a point at which they are in extreme distress and then just explode. As I say, I prefer a dog that is just very trusting but if you have one

What can I say, I'm a heathen. It's the Nordic ancestry!

Mate, just to be clear, I'm not questioning what you did. Just responding to AW.

Jesus christ, it's like drawing blood from a stone.

Okay, but do you think that a dogs mind is at all in that mode when it is a state of pain/fear? The most submissive dog in the world can snap when in pain. I don't think responding to that with a beating will have any positive result at all. The dog is in a survival mode, not in a social mode. That's why it is important to identify the root cause.

okay

Nope, definitely not human. An animal that is in a state of fear doesn't give a f**k about any hierarchy.

Has anybody tried shooting running water? Rivers, streams, ditches etc? I assume it's possible, particularly if you have like a bit of an eddy. Otherwise feed on the bank I guess. Also I'd think a dog for picking up promptly would be necessary. Ponds are few and far between i seems round here but running water might give me options...

There seems to be two lines of thought on this thread. One that it was food possessiveness and another that it was pain/fear. Just wanted to say that it's important to be 100% on what is the cause because how you respond to it probably needs to be different and responding the wrong way can possibly cause more problems. ie, bollocking a dog that is in pain and scared you are going to hurt him/her will either destroy your bond/trust or cause the dog to actually bite you badly.

Doesn't sound like it's fear based aggression from the injury. Sounds like food based aggression. Something remedied by excessively controlling the dogs feeding. Give, remove, give, remove, cover over with your hand, tell the dog to leave part way through, just reinforcing your control in the dogs head and ending it's possessiveness. I don't like the trait at all. I don't like fear based aggression either but it's more understandable and acceptable (to a degree) imo. If a dog's in pain and panicking (when being given first aid) lashing out is understandable and expected. There's a po

Pripyat looks a cool place. One of the few places on Earth you can see the effects of the 'end of the world'!

I’ve been in London today and I saw a rat in broad daylight in green park, not a care. Can’t remember last time I saw one like that. I reckon we’ve got it all wrong hunting in the country. Swap the wellies and waxed jacket for hard hat and high vis and I reckon no one would bat an eye.

On that point I wanted to say fair play to you and thanks because from all your big cat talk you taught me something quite interesting about accurately identifying cat prints (the cross test and the triple lobe check). I still don’t believe big cats roam this island but I learnt something which is always valuable to me.

I like those replica skulls. You can get smilodon ones!

There will be many pictures don't worry. I've got an 11 hour stop over at Christchurch on the way back so plenty of time to upload a few.

Plane tickets booked. I land on the 1st May. In the mountains the following week. Just firming up further details now but the dates are set.

In the UK we don't have that protection. Illegally gained evidence, even from the police, is generally admissible. There's no English parallel to the US 4th amendment which would protect the accused with a legal technicality. See below,

If you're not going to be buying a rifle for a little while then I'd suggest meeting up with some experienced locals and picking their brains. It sounds like 308 or 30-06 are adequate for your needs at the very least so I don't think you need to worry too much. Certainly for your deer needs. There's a few other factors to consider like range, which again is better commented on by experienced locals. Unless you're shooting at and beyond 300 yards there's little point in magnum cartridges. If you're shooting always under say 150 then there's possibly merit to something big and slow, in the
