At least both parties seem to be understanding and have good communications going. Thats good to see! Very often people can be really funny about things like this. On the bright side, you should be able to claim from DHL for new gauge / bottle etc! So problem solved!

Nice looking bit of permission there, and pleased your liking the s410... they are awesome rifles!!!

I didnt even know AYA did an o/u. All the AYA`s ive seen have been sbs`s. Very nice guns, so if the o/u is anything like the sbs`s then it will be good.

From my experience, anyone will do as long as they have a "professional" job. Now, that from what ive tried, means anyone in who works in an office, so that can be a customer service person, a sales person, a manager, an IT engineer. Basically anyone in an office. Of course, each licencing area may be different and when I first got my license I assumed it meant solicitors / doctors / lawyers and that type had to sign it, but the last 3 renewals I got anyone I knew in an office who had known me for over 12 months to sign and its been fine.

Cool, may get in touch with you then when im moved in as im not familiar with the area at all, so will need to find local gun shops, clay grounds and that sort of thing.

Excellent shooting! Some serious rats there, I hope you had some bicycle clips on, i wouldnt want any of those running up my trousers!!!!

As the others have said, you shouldnt be having any problems with accuracy with that setup. Ive got the same gun, same calibre and same power. Using the AA Field Diablo pellets in 5.52 mine is spot on every time at 45yards. Try filling to about 170 and see how you get on after a good zero`ing session. Might be the scope is a bit off. I occasionally find mine gets knocked or moves sometimes and thats the only thing which affects my accuracy. A range finder is an excellent idea. I bought a Hawke 600 range finder a few months back and am staggered at how accurate it is. Certainly takes th

I think Northants are one of the more reasonable forces. I don't know of anyone who has had any significant problems with them. I had a small issue at my last renewal over hold/buy quantities and a new calibre, but this was sorted out with a meeting with the lady in charge. Where abouts are you moving to? Wellingborough mate. Hopefully! If the sale all goes through!

BASC or Countryside Alliance

Zini, as ever, hats off to you! Top shooting!

Im moving to Northamptonshire, are their firearms / SGC inspectors reasonable people? Im in Cambridgeshire atm, and my local fao is as sound as a pound, had no issues at all over the last 15 years. Any recent experiences anyone can tell me about? Cheers!

Shot!!!!! Looks like you could set up a deck chair there and wait for them to come out and shoot them!!!

s410 now down on power
jackinbox99 replied to markha's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Id go back to a tin of the first lot you tried and see if anything as changed. I dont mess about with cleaning or lubing my pellets. Ive a s410 and i use 5.52 straight out of the tin. Not found any difference in performance through last 3 tins of them and theres about 500 in a tin. If you still have problems with the pellets, then id get the power adjusted slightly. If its set up right you shouldnt see much difference in fps through several pellets. -
Firstly you will need to workout what you can afford. Your looking at about 400quid for a decent pcp like the air arms s410. Im not sure what that would work out at per month, but depends on where your getting the cash from. Personally id rather save up and buy it as if your struggling to find 400quid then you need to think twice as to whether you should be buying one in the first place. (no offence intended, but thats my way of thinking). If money is an issue, then maybe go for a springer, you can get a lovely one for about 200quid. Very accurate and loads of fun!

Thats a good result there. 9 acres is a lot! Sounds like you will have loads of fun there keeping the pests under control!! Well done!!!

Had to laugh at the "through the ears" shot. I did that last year when I over compensated for a bunny. 1st shot got him through the ears. 2nd was lower and finished him off quickly. But when i retrieved him, it was as if someone had been down the piercing shop and he had a .22 hole through both ears perfectly!

I had a Crosman Medalist 1322 pistol for a while earlier in the year and its a pump up. Its unusual in that its a .22 for a pistol, but they also do a .177 version. I was very impressed with it. The disadvantage over c02 is that you have to pump it up. But the advantage is that by pumping it more or less you can vary the power, depending upon the range you want to shoot over. I found it pretty accurate. Obviously no scope, but theres websites dedicated to it where you can mod it to fit a scope if you dont like the original sights. Looking about they are fairly rare tho, american made a

what?!!!!!!!!! my OH is getting more and more against me shooting anything atm. Shes even got to the stage where she phones up the bunnies on her mobile and warns tham that im on my way!!!

Nice gun mate and when you get it setup and get results from it its more pleasing than if you had forked out loads of money on a new one. There is a lot to be said for the "old" air rifle. My dad still get results from his 40+ year old Diana he keeps rusting away in his shed!!!!

To be honest, for the cash, id personally be tempted to buy an escort and see how you get on. If you dont like it, sell it and get your money back, therefore nothing lost!

what to semi and what hushpower
jackinbox99 replied to zak-s410's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi 1200 should get you a nice setup. Id probably go for the hushpower baikal (or similar) in .410 as its much cheaper than the mossberg. 2nd hand your looking at about £200->£225 for one - whereas the mossberg goes for about £400. The mossberg is quite a long gun and the click click of the pump can be a bit noisey when your out in the field! The escort semi has mixed reviews, so id be tempted to go for a "brand name" like a beretta. Will cost you more money, but would be a good investment. You can get an older beretta semi for £300 or less. Or, splash out on a al391 for abou -
I got a semi for my first gun, for me it was ideal. I wanted something I could use for everything and liked the idea of having just 1 barrel and 3 shots! The escort has mixed reviews, some love it, some hate it. The general impression I get, is that it prefers the heavier cartridges, so its probably not the gun for clays, but would be okay in the field wildfowling. Id agree with liftboy. Your really better of saving up a few more pennies and getting something like a beretta. You could pick up an older model semi for not much more than your 200quid and they are highly rated for what you

As others have said, its more the battery you use rather than the lamp. Beleive it or not my "lamp" consists of a car spot light, bolted to a bit of metal which holds a motorbike battery. Whole thing made from bits in my shed. Can light up a whole field pretty easily and the battery lasts days. Only problem is, i havent fitted a dimmer yet, so its very much on / off. But, ive had loads of sucess with it lamping.

Thats exactly what I do as I have the same issue. I have read some articles on the net where they reckon you can retrain your eye dominance. And, those easyhit sights are supposed to work wonders on your gun - although I havent tried them yet.

Nice one. Im glad im not the only one who has a cat for competition on one of my permissions. The amount of times ive been stalking up to a bunny only to see the damn cat doing the same along the other side of the field. From the landowners accounts this cat is catching nearly as many rabbits as I am!!!!!
