As above you get a pedretti .410 and a baikal .410 both with hushpower conversions on them. These tend to vary between £150 and £250 2nd hand depending upon how lucky you are. Both have excellent reviews and are quiet. Downside is they are just single barrels. Hushpower do a silenced 20bore o/u but ive not seen any 2nd hand yet, so they are pretty rare. You do also get the mossberg 3shot pump action in a hushpower, like I own. They are more expensive 2nd hand... £400->£450 if i remember rightly, but they are ideal for shooting from a truck or quad when you need those 3 quick shots.

Id also watch out for being stung by the taxman... i ordered some bits a few years back from the USA as they were 2/3rds the price they were in the UK. I got hit by customs for Import Tax, VAT, and Tax collection fee which made the item loads more expensive than it would have been had i just bought it in the UK in the first place! doh!

Good advice from Hunter there. Are you sure its the same 3->5 rabbits each time tho! You`ll find that they come and go at all different times of the day and night. One of my permisisons sometimes you turn up and you maybe see 5, then they get nervous and vanish. Then, if you wait around long enough they will come back out again. Other times I turn up at a similar time of night and theres none out at all. Unfortunately hunting rabbits can be a very long drawn out game sometimes.

air arms s410 carbine is the one for me. Thats not saying its any better or worse than any other PCP out there - I think these days pretty much all the PCPs are spot on and its more down to which one the shooter gets on better with. Ive had my s410 for quite a few years now and its had dozens and dozens of rabbits and pigeons. Ive also had great fun plinking beer cans and 2p sized targets in my back yard. Pellet on Pellet at 35->45yards no problem and more shots out of a fill than i`ll ever use in the field. Sometimes I have 4 or 5 hunting sessions before I even bother refilling it.

Not bad bag after all really! Those night time distance estimations are very hard to get the hang of. I really struggle with them now sometimes, even after years of night time shooting. I have to look out for landmarks, stones and tree`s etc from which I know the distances of.

Cant beat a carbine for in car use, ive had quite a few out of the side window. Only challange you sometimes have is whilst you can see the bunny in front of you, you have to position your car so you can shoot from either the drivers window (wing mirror is ideal rest), or throught the car and out the passenger window! Ive been tempted to use the sunroof to be honest the missus wouldnt like me getting footprints on her seats. lol.

i started off with the baikal o/u , couldnt fault it, never let me down, Snap. From the description, I think i had the same model as the original poster is on about. Comes with 2 sets of barrels, one was 16inch skeet, other set of barrels was 28inch with tighter chokes for sporting or game. Single trigger, ejector. I bought mine a good few years back now for 100quid 2nd hand. It had seen some serious use, but was still in good working order and very tight. In fact, I think its a baikel thing, as it was tight to open up even after id been using it for a number of years. Both myself &

I used car spray paint on one of my old air rifles. Just sand the wood down to get any top coat or varnish off, then primered it with car spray primer, then I gave it a base coat of dark green. You can lay leaves and stuff on the stock, then spray over them, then remove the leaves to give you a really nice camo looking finish. If in doubt, practise on a cardboard box first to get the hang of spraying. Once you have a result you are happy with, a few coats of spray lacquer will finish it off and protect it. Ive used the same technique on guitars and all sorts of things with good result

As somesome else said, FAC air rifles are very often cheaper than their non FAC counterpart. So, you`d probably be better off selling your s410k, and buying an FAC version, as firstly the gun will probably be cheaper, and secondly it will already be FAC. The non FAC s410 can be modified by a gunsmith to FAC, but obviously it will cost you money for their time / labour and parts, plus the gun will then be classed as FAC and be instantly reduced in value over what it was worth before! Looking on chairgun pro, an FAC .22 air rifle looks like it has a nearly flat tragectory, similar to a non F

My beretta al391 comes with shims which could probably adjust the cast to suit a left handed person, but i guess whilst this would work the fact it ejects the cartridges from the r/h side of the gun would not be ideal for a left handed shooter!!!

Another vote for the baikel from me! My first gun was a £100 o/u baikel 12bore. Had 2 sets of barrels, so you could use it for skeet or game. Both myself and my brother used it no end for clays. Must have put thousands of cartridges through it. As someone else has said, its really down to your budget and what you get on well with. If you like side by sides, you can get a spanish one such as a Gunmark pretty cheap. I bought one a while back for less than £100 and love it. Its easily the first gun I reach for now when im going out anywhere. Cheap, reliable, accurate, light, perfect really.

I bought a slip on adapter from the bay which slipped perfectly onto my s410 barrel and then the hw100 silencer just screws onto the adapter. Only cost something like a fiver for the adapter.

Home Office report on FACs and SGCs
jackinbox99 replied to RicW's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yes, I read an article on this yesterday. From what I read they are toying with ideas like changing licenses from 5 years to 2 years, barring people who have been done for small crimes from ever having guns etc. etc. I dont see how any of that would make a difference in real life. As we all know, the majority of gun crime is done by people having illegally held guns. And, in cases, such as Bird`s, nothing they could have checked or done would stop someone suddenly having a mental breakdown. I think the Prime Minister or someone made the comment that they cant legislate for a switch in someones -
What everyone else has said really, loads of good pcp rifles which fall into the sort of money you are thinkin about spending. So, its all down to trying a few out and personal preference. Another vote for the air arms s410k from me, but thats just my personal preference. One thing I will say though, is I think you are better off buying 2nd hand as you will save money, and you wont loose loads on depreciation. For example, you very often see the s410k for around 400->450quid 2nd hand, with scope, silencer and very often including a pump. New, your lookin at say 40quid for a scope, 5

Sounds good! Ive been thinkin about getting one of these myself, so keep us posted on how you get on.

deben tracer on a single barrel 12 gauge

Works for me on my hushpower, although cos of the diameter of the moderator, i just tape the lamp to the end of the barrel with black insulation tape! -
Are there .410 BB cartridges available?
jackinbox99 replied to JohnGalway's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Not sure if the original poster means they are looking for .410 cartridges with bb shot, or cartridges which have a couple of big ball bearings in them. I was speaking to a guy a few months back who years back used to load his own .410 cartridges with a couple of big ball bearings... apparently ideal for poaching deer he said. I took his word for it, not something id fancy doing! -
Another s410 fan here. I bought the carbine version in .22 a year or so back and its the probably best money ive spent on a gun. Its a 2007 pre tamper model and came with what I think is the stock slip on air arms moderator. Pushing 11.6 its pellet on pellet at 45 yards and ive had dozens of bunnies with it. Ive never ran out of shots on it, I usually pump it up after each hunting trip, the bar drops from 190 down to maybe 140->150. So, I reckon id get 3 or more hunting trips out of a full charge if i let it run down. When I got the gun with the air arms silencer, the only noise

Got FAC interview tomorrow!!!
jackinbox99 replied to THE GRIFF's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Excellent result then! -
Another vote for the a410 from me. Ive the carbine version and safely say it was well worth the money. It holds its value well and I cant fault it at all. Deadly accurate, very very very quiet and I get a redicuous about of shots per charge from it. Saying that, the BSA ultra is getting good reviews on here atm, and is a lot lot cheaper, so might be worth looking at one of those also!

Agree, barrel length isnt the first thing id worry about. Id get down a local shop and try a few different makes / models for fit and see what you like the look & feel off really. Dont feel forced to snap up the first one you like and take any advice from the gunshop with a piece of salt then do your research on the internet when you get home. Theres loads of guns out there atm, so shop about!

I prefer my semi or my s/s. Ive also got a o/u and a pump, but find im too slow with the pump getting the 2nd or 3rd shot off, and find the o/u "feels" too heavy and clumbersome. The s/s has the shortest barrels out of any of my guns, so I find it light and can get on target very quickly, I also seem to be more accurate with it than my o/u. Also cos it cost hardly anything, im not as fussed about getting it dirty or it getting knocked. Its all about personal preference really. Most shooters I know seem to prefer the o/u!

Yeah, that was another option I thought about - getting a cheapie .410 and adding the silencer. You can have the stock .410 barrel cut down and the silencer fitted, which would give you the same overall length as the non silenced .410. But for the costs of doing it all, it is cheaper to buy a .410 with the full length silencer already on it. I opted for the pump for those extra 2 shots really, but you do pay a lot more money for the pump over the single shot. Your right tho, the mossberg is a hell of a length. I have to dismantel it to get it in my cabinet. But, when your using it or w

As chimp said, its very hard to sell anything online these days as there just is far too much competition. Ive just closed my 3rd store down (different product each time) due to people jumping on the same band wagen and undercutting me. I dropped my profit margin down so much I just barely covering my costs before I closed it down completely. It doesnt matter what you sell, someone else out there will be already doing it. And if you can find a nitch market then it may only last a few months before other people copy you. That said, if you can find something which works, then go for it.
