still dont know how you can shoot in a graveyard, i would be absolutely cacking myself once it got dark! good right up as always tho!

From my perspective, shooting a 3inch magnum cartridge in my .410 has little recoil, certainly not as much as using my 12g`s with normal clay loads. All depends upon gun fit though as how much recoil you feel. The 12g sbs im using atm doesnt seem to give me any more recoil than my 12g semi. Id definately go for a 12g if I was you, loads out there cheap. As others have said, get down your local gun shops and shop about. Dont buy the first you see, take your time.

whats the best shotgun used today
jackinbox99 replied to mattythelamper's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
And my advice is dont go for something too expensive. I use a £60 spanish side by side for most of my shooting atm, clays, and out in the field. Does me really well, and I find I leave my more expensive (£1000) guns in the cabinet. As others have said, shop about, theres plenty of cheap guns around the £120 mark. Get one which fits. -
177 or 22 for hunting
jackinbox99 replied to paulredtop's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Id be tempted to search on this, as its probably one of the oldest and most discussed topics with regards to air rifles. The quick summary to it all though is that both are perfectly fine for hunting. Both will easily kill pigeons & rabbits as its all about where the pellet hits rather than the size. As Billbroon said, .177 has a flatter trajectory, so you dont have to worry as much about hold over / under. Therefore some people prefer the .177 over .22. .22 is by far the most popular though, you only have to look on guntrader and you`ll see loads more .22 air rifles for sale. My -
well everyone i am pleased to say she passed the field test
jackinbox99 replied to venomviper's topic in Airgun Hunting
It just goes to show, its all about the calm shots! Ive had it before when ive missed everything in sight, and yet the next day ive got 3 bunnies with 3 pellets. The gun cant have changed, so its all be down to my shooting. Sometimes you rush shots, other times you take your time and bang! result! Excellent work tho! And golf course looks like a good permission! I pass one on the way home from work atm and ive noticed loads of bunnies running around, so i might see if they need someone to sort them out myself! -
I vaguely remember when I got my SGC years back, and I was living with my parent at the time. The FEO came around, asked me what I wanted the license for, i said it was for clay shooting and maybe some game shooting at some stage. He didnt ask about cabinet, security or anything like that at all. Told him about the local clay range id read up on and that was about it. Nice and easy, no problems at all. I guess its just a quick check really to make sure you havent got Rambo posters up all over your living room and answer the door in camo gear with a machette in your belt or that kind of thi

In my experience, unless your wearing bright clothes then for bunnys, camo makes little difference. I have gone hunting in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt before in summer and managed to walk up to within 30 yards of bunnys without them getting spooked. Its all about how you move and where you move. And, what the bunnys are used to.

Excellent bit of land there with a great place to shoot from. From the looks of those holes there must be no end of bunnys running about there!

I have the same decoy, but for some reason they wont come in when they see it. I got home last night and was up my loft and I thought "hang on, i can hear magpies", so i ran downstairs with the air rifle and they were jumping around the poor bluetits nest box like mad. But again, no safe back drop so I couldnt get them. Now they are coming in all the time, i`ll try the decoy again and see if it works.

hi all advice please
jackinbox99 replied to rossy08's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Alternatively you could always go back to a logun lamp. I have a small scope mounted one I use and find it works for me really well. -
Have a search in the for sale section on this and other websites to get some idea of how much they are and whether they normally include silencer etc. If they dont include a silencer then your looking at about 45quid for a new one. Bipod costs about the same for a new one. Likewise, if it hasnt got a scope, then a scope will vary from 30quid upwards.
-
Good luck! I woke up to the sound of 4 magpies going mental in one of my trees this morning trying to get at some bluetits nest. Unfortunately there wasnt a safe backdrop so I couldnt attempt a shot at them. Ive got my eye on them tho, so as soon as they are in the right position...... bang!

Yep, they are very good guns. Im presuming this one was made in 1982 hense the 10 82 stamped on the bottom of it. I just couldnt get over how good the woodwork is on this one, its better than some of my shotguns!
-
Gun now sold! Nice quick sale!

Only problem with a bag or your pockets is that the cartridges can jingle about and make some noise sometimes. I use a cheap webbed type cartidge belt with elastic hoops for my .410 and get on well with it. Im sure it wont last me a lifetime, but for the money i paid, ive already had my moneys worth out of it.

Hi, I have a Diana G80 springer air rifle, in .177 I am selling on behalf of a friend. As you can see from the pictures, it looks brand new! The trigger & wood are showing no wear at all. The actual wood does look very nice and has nice grain on it, which hopefully showed well in the pictures. It has really good chequering on it too, certainly looks much better than the wood on my air arms s410! It has the words Diana G80 Made in Gt Britain on the top of it and on the underside has 10 82 stamped in front of the trigger. The blueing all looks good with no rust, and the gun reall

No end of them around my way, but have never tried eating them before! Do they taste like pigeon? or completely different?
-
One thing I would add tho, is that I would spend a bit of time doing your research first and take your time. Dont rush into buying the first gun the local gunshop "recommends". Id research the pro`s and cons of springers and pcp air rifles, then find out what the local gunshops are, and try a few air rifles out for fit. See what you like the look off. Do you prefer a thumbhole stock, a carbine, a full length, a heavier or lighter gun. Get an idea of the prices the guns are. Then WALK AWAY! Get back online and see how much the guns you have short-listed go for 2nd hand and at other sho

lol! Thats what I was thinking.

Lol wouldn't be a bad idea. Got it for £100. Its a parkemy poachers folding S/S hammer, Really nice little gun Good price too, sounds like you got a bargain there. You obviously can shoot well with it. I quite fancy getting something similar myself.
-
You just need to put a "butchers shop" sign up outside your garage door! Nice .410 you have there tho.
-
Same here, last lot I bought worked out at £35 for 250 a few weeks back.
-
Ive had plenty of days like that in the past. And you assume that your zero must be out, but when you check it, its dead on. Cant really explain it really, might be wind, or just problems range estimating. I reckon a range finder is next on your list of things to get! Had to laugh at the pigeon you mentioned above. I *always* keep an eye in my garden for pigeons and they tend to always avoid my garden, or land somewhere where there isnt a safe backstop so I cant shoot them. Then, last week, I was expecting a visitor @ 10am and no sooner had my visitor arrived, low & behold I looked out

Looking for advice on 5 shot semi auto shotgun
jackinbox99 replied to vannoch's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Nope, you`d need a shotgun license for a normal SBS or O/U, or a 3 shot pump action or 3 shot semi, (or a 3 shot bolt action for that matter). Any shotgun which is more than 3 shot needs an FAC. -
Where abouts in Cambs are you? Im seeing litterally hundreds of rabbits everywhere I look when I drive home from work each night. Hundreds of them! They seem to really have surfaced like mad this last couple of weeks. Unfortunately ive not had the time to get down my permission recently so im dying to see what its like there.
