What are the best pellets for rabbits
jackinbox99 replied to Alfybaby21's topic in General Airgun Discussion
The best pellets are whatever works best in your gun really! Id buy a sample box and try them all to see what your gun likes. My s410 loves the air arms field pellets in .22 which are domed. Very accurate in my gun out to 45-50 yards. But, just because they suit my gun doesnt mean they will suit yours. -
Nice write up!!!! Really felt i was in the field with you. That soggy bunny looks a sorry sight in the picture!

Wow, double barreled attack from that woman, not only is she against people killing pigeons, but also against the armed forces. Ive had a few people have a go about me killing "helpless innocent cute little bunnies" in the past, but its always been non country people who see them as little pets. In fact my missus doesnt like me shooting pigeons, so i have to do it on the quiet! Think is not to let it get to you and let it go straight over your head. Your doing nothing wrong and yout in the right.

Ive got one and love it. Very good value for money and holds its value very well 2nd hand. Jack of all trades really. You can use it for just about anything. I mainly use mine for clays and find its very quick to get on the shots and hardly any recoil. Very very occasionally you bump into a snotty person who seems to frown on someone using a semi for clays and thinks you should be using an o/u, but in the main ive not had any problems at all. I tend to clean mine 2 or 3 times a year - nice and easy to strip down and clean. Only thing to watch is after you have cleaned it up the spent shell

Nice one!!!! Those trees sound like they have loads of potential for hiding up and getting bunnies!

I actually prefer shooting in the colder months. Last year I was out in Jan lying on frosty ground in sub zero temperatures. But, I was nice and warm in my shooting camo with fleece tracksuit underneath. Id rather be like that than sweating like a rapist in a field on a hot summers evening. But, each to their own. I guess its a bit like some of the motorbikers I see. I used to ride my bike every day of the week to work & back... in snow, rain, frost as well as in the summer months. And yet other people id come across would be fair weather bikers. I dont see them any differently or trea

Ive the mossberg pump hushpower in .410. Personally unless you definately need more than 1 shot id go for the single barrel hushpower. 2nd hand the single barrel .410 hushpower tends to be about 250quid, but the mossberg one fetches nearer 500. Is it worth double the money for those extra shots? I thought so. The bad point with the mossberg is that cos of the action, the gun physically is a lot longer than the single barrel hushpower. So, it takes a bit of getting used to. I have to take it appart to get it in the cabinet even. Also, cos the silencer is smaller apparently its not as quiet

What i do in this situation is make sure the wind is blowing towards me. Lay prone and wait until the rabbits are eating, then slowly (very slowly) edge forward like army man style. If the rabbit stops eating and puts his head up then STOP. Wait until he`s back eating again before carrying on. It works for me, but you have to be strict. Dont try and rush it. And dont try and shoot from too far - make sure your in range. The hardest bit is once you are in range trying to get your gun in position and lined up without spooking them. No end of time ive had them leg it at the last minute. Very

Is this land big enough?
jackinbox99 replied to Dan_Mercian's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I agree. One of my permissions is actually slightly bigger than the areas you marked out on the map, and I successfully use a non FAC PCP air rifle and snares to sort the rabbits out on it. And means I dont have to go through the hassle and expense of applying for a firearms license. -
If the rapid is in good condition then you should be snatching the guys arm off. From memory, they are worth a lot more than an s400.

Tasco Scopes
jackinbox99 replied to secretagentmole's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Same here, I only needed a cheap scope, so got a cheap tasco 3-12x50 IR scope off the bay from china. My shooting mates were so impressed with it, they all went out and bought them too. -
anyone have any idea what this is?
jackinbox99 replied to savagebulldog20's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Ive got one just like this, hell of a recoil and noisey as hell - mainly from the spring / hammer. I chrono`d mine and it was kicking out 6ft/lb. But, it was actually fairly accurate out to 35 yards or so and accounted for a few unlucky magpies in my back yard. Certainly good fun for plinking and messing about with, and like others have said, for £30 with that red dot thing, its well worth the money. -
I use an hw100 silencer on my s410 and all I can hear is the thud of the pellet hitting something. It really shocked me how quiet it was. I think i paid around £45 new from a local gunshop. Ive not tried the twink, but everyone is raving about them atm so they must be good!

Excellent write up. Sounds like your`ll have to practise shooting from the vehicle. Ive had it several times now when i pull into my permission the rabbits are out and i end up shooting 1 before I even get out of the car!!! Sort of takes them by supprise!

Excellent write up. Really makes me want to go lamping tonight!!! Havent been for months as just havent had the free time.

Id approach this in 2 ways. You can either apply and not mention anything about your family. Or, if you want, you could phone up your local FEO and ask their opinion. All the FEO`s ive met are friendly people and more than happy to help.
-
Id say look on ebay, and the local free papers. Also check on here. You always see people flogging the smaller 3 gun cabinets off as they soon realise they need a bigger cabinet! You see them from £60->£ usually. They tend to hold their value, so if you get a 2nd hand one, you wont loose much on it if you want to upgrade to a bigger one in the future.

Glad its not just me who is living happily ever after after seeing that pic!!!!!

Or an aluminium base ball bat, which is what i keep handy in case of intruders. My FEO even saw it propped up next to my front door and never said anything about it when he came around last. I recall a case in my local paper a number of years ago when someone broke into a local guys house and the home owner beat the guy severely with a bat. The judge in that case said "tough, you shouldn't have been in the guys house in the first place" and let the home owner off. If any burglers ever get in my house and get upstairs where my missus is sleeping, i will happily leave them to it. They ha

Nice one. Ive not been able to get out for ages as been too busy with work. Your pic makes me want to get out and get a few new bunnies!

Your looking at about £450 max for the whole lot. He will get more cash if he sells it all separately tho. The pump would be around 60->80quid 2nd hand, gun with a scope & silencer is maybe £420ish. £20 for the bag, etc. etc.
-
I agree with COMPO, the silencer on hushpowers does take a bit of getting used to when your aiming at things. You soon get used to it though. Any reason why you need a hushpower? Obviously if noise is an issue then thats your way forward, but a 12bore would be better than a .410 for pigeons, especially if your a starter. If noise isnt an issue then your better off with a 12bore o/u or s/s, maybe even a semi.

Nice one. All about being in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately im usually in the wrong place at the wrong time!
