  1. Depends what it involved. When i was seriously training, id do heavy weights 4 times a week and jogging 3 times a week. Takes a while to get into it, but any form of strenous exercise for at least 8 weeks will show you results!
  2. Sounds strange to me, as i thought rabbits only ate grass?
  3. Good point mate, but its psychological. Maybe im a wimp?!!?! !
  4. My take on this is that it depends on your budget. Id go for a PCP if you can. May seem out of your budget, but you have to factor in that its like having money in the bank, as if you decide to sell it in a years time, you`ll get your money back (if you buy the right gun). I bought a air arms s410k about 18months back and judging by the for sale prices now, id get back exactly what I paid for it. So, it will have only cost me a service in that time and thats it. Depends if you have the money avaliable to do that. But, for me, having used springers and PCP`s, id go for the PCP everytime.
  5. I had to smile at your write up... I bet your heart lept when you pulled the trigger and nothing happened. Ive had that before in the field when I could have had a perfect shot. So anoying!! Still, I only did it the once, now I double check my mag before I go!!! Nice shooting, ive not shot a hare before, although ive been given a few in the past by mates which have gone straight into the oven!
  6. What a shot eh! Missed the squizzer but got the pigeon! I know which id prefer to eat for tea! Nice one!!!
  7. Excellent shooting there Phantom and at good ranges too! I still dont know how you can hang around a graveyard at midnight, but your getting the results!!!
  8. Out in the field, do plenty of searching on here. Most people use plastic decoys, and / or rotary devices to encourage the pigeons to land. At the moment, with the corn being cut in the fields there are literally millions of pigeons flying in.
  9. If you checkout the above 2 posts, you see what I mean about the Escort being marmite....
  10. Ive a lanber o/u and also a beretta a391 semi. I love the semi, so easy to get on target. Quick and easy. You can pick them up now 2nd hand for 600quid. Cycles everything from 21g upwards. Only had about 2 jams in 6->8 years of ownership. Holds its value too. I clean my properly once a year and it still performs faultless. Ive lost count of the cartridges ive put through it. In the peak season i put through 400 a week, easily with no problems at all. Semi`s do have a stigma attached to them at some places you will shoot, but where I go they are more interested in that you know gun s
  11. Christ, some big rabbits there!!!!!!!!! thats enough stew for like a whole football team!!!!
  12. That is perfect advice. Spot on. I did did the same but using beer cans instead of spoons. Aimed for the large base of the can for a start, but soon was aiming for the ridge on the base of the can. with a direct hit, you rip the side out of the can. Its all about getting used to distances and hold over / under in the field.
  13. Excellent result, both with the rabbits and the carrot cake!!!
  14. Practise and practise! Get in the field where your shooting and set some targets up.. you will soon get used to distances and where you have to aim!
  15. The only problem ive ever had is a house overlooking one of my permissions saw some dodgy looking tattooed skin head wandering about with a gun in the field. Luckily they phoned my the land owner (my aunt) and told her about this nutter. She soon put them straight and said "yep, thats my nephew" so problem solved and im safe there now!
  16. Well done! Once you get one, more come along! so enjoy yourself and get as many results as you can from this one!
  17. If your pushing 300quid then id consider a pcp. You can get pick up a decent one for not much more than that. Scope wise, both of those would be fine, ive a hawke scope and i was very impressed with the clarity and quality of it.
  18. Id ask the same. Ive the sam gun, same sort of power. Back yard, pellet on pellet at 20, 25, 35 and 40 yards. No problem at all. Out in field, i used to miss all sorts, until i realised my range estimations were next to useless. One i got used to where i was shooting and the ranges involved then no problems at all!
  19. cheers lads, the tatts come with the territory mate, its my day job... all the best, wurz I might have to speak to you soon then mate as im after some more work doing! On the shooting subject, bit of a scary one, ive had a few close calls when ive been out in the field and police cars have driven by or the local chopper has hoverered above, but fingers crossed no "ello ello what have we ere then" yet.!
  20. I have the same problem with magpies.... they wake me up at 5am going mad trying to get into the local birds nests. By the time i get the air rifle out they scarper. I did get lucky a few weeks back with one who wasnt as quick as I was!
  21. Davy has it spot on. New guns tend to perform better after a bit of running in with a load of pellets through them. Always keep the barrel & metal work clean and oiled to stop surface rust. Depending on what your case is like you might prefer a gunbag or something to keep it in. I keep mine in a gunbag out of the way at home, and when transporting it, its in the same gunbag in the boot of the car. Unless im on my permission, then its on the passenger seat with my roof down ready for quick action!
  22. I use gun oil on mine with a rag, rubs of any surface rust easily. Unfortunately my s410 seems to attract rust easy if its been out in the damp fields. Common problem with air arms, the blueing is next to useless. What i`ll do is if it gets any worse, sand it down nicely and reblue it. Just means until then I have to keep the barrel nicely oiled to prevent it happening and give it a good clean everytime i take it out. Out of interest, what gun is it?
  23. lol! tripple load indeed! Never managed that, but did double load my s410 once. It blew both pellets out no problem. Only did it the once, now i make sure if its loaded i keep safey on, if its empty safety is off. Easy way for me to know if its loaded.
  24. Our limit is .22 cal or higher you need a license. But we have no limit on power (FPE). Roger! Alright for some then! Would be nice to get a .22 FAC here without as much hassle!
