  1. Darcy's books are all good, Phil Lloyd's A Mouchers Tale is a fine read, and he has a sequel out now, Penny Taylor's Running Dog Maintenance, has received very positive reviews. Ted Walsh's books are good.
  2. I judged the E of E show with him a few years back ,he is a good lurcher judge and has a good reputation with dogs.I would imagine this is aimed more thaose wanting to "experience", the out doors and have a taste of fields sports, rather than the meat and potatoes lurcher guy/woman. Hope this hasn't given you ideas Tomo?
  3. Sorry R, I haven't got it, I looked at the thread because I thought you'd made a compilation of him with his dogs ATB with your search.
  4. Haven't seen this for years ,thanks very much for sharing it with us.
  5. Sound, sensible advice. There's a lot of dogs out there that have not got 4 minutes in them, even when they are fresh ,let alone getting straight on another one without a rest between.
  6. Smithfields, and Norfolks, Stag hounds and Snag hounds , Tumblers and Stumblers,Minshaws ,and Grimshaws. These are a few of my favourite fibs.
  7. Looks like he's getting ready to discharge cargo again!
  8. Of course you can ,until you are caught ,and then you are facing 3 years for a first offence and ,up to 10 for a repeated one. I use invisible thread, it's fine , well until you drop it.
  9. SS is working for the Police, he is part of an elaborate sting operation , have nothing to do with him, they have" various" pending against him, he was promised immunity a new identity and life in LIbya .if he co-operated.
  10. I have a 3 months puppy he demolishes a raw carcass in around 8/10 minutes.
  11. Twenty bores are a good rabbiting gun,but the ammo is expensive, number six is the traditional game shot size ,I would get the cabinet and, fix it in place first, before applying for your licence.West Malling's , "Country Ways" do them,[as well as guns].I don't know if there is anyone nearer to you. A cheap Investarm or Baikal should fit the bill.
  12. Highly impressive stamina ,and determination shown by the dogs, but, let's face it ,it's a bagged animal does it even know where its going? And a couple of times the cars appeared to head it off.Not for me.
  13. Yes, it was noticeable that many of the stalls had no connection with the countryside ,or country sports at all. Still a well attended Lurcher show ,up to its usual high standard of competitors. Nice to see old friends such as yourself , Mac etc.
  14. Some new stuff on there, I'll be looking to get some, come next season when my pup is running.
  15. Allways an excellent show with a very high standard of dogs entered in the rings.I will be there!
  16. Everything comes to those who wait, your patience has been rewarded P.A good beginning
  17. I was not at the show and therefore have no knowledge of the alleged incident .I do however know Paddy Weaver, and I have no hesitation in vouching for his honesty, and forthrightness.
  18. Dogs that attack puppies are not to be tolerated imo.And a bitch into the bargain. I've three adult males who growl at my 10weeks old pup when he oversteps the mark, but are remarkably tolerant of him. When I was a kid, [half a century ago,] my cousin had a lovely Manchester Terrier called Paddy, across the alley from him was a Bull Mastiiff called Bruce, Bruce was a nasty piece of work, perpetually on a chain attached to his kennel , that chain would hold a horse ,Bruce developed a strategy of pulling the 4 foot kennel he lived in along, to get him in striking range of any unwary dog

  20. You and I both know we are going to get the same shit every time J. Until some one comes up with a proven formula to tell if a dog works or not I am as in the dark as you ,and as you rightly said that is NOT a judges function, his, or hers job, is to select the best dog ,according to its confirmation, condition, and movement. A judge is not there to pick out the best worker ,they are in the ring to pick out the best looking dog END OF. ps Hope to see you at the Autumn Show.
  21. I have started using Bulmers ,they are in Leics, their meat is very good and ,competitively priced. Skycat has pinned a thread on it at the top of this forum . they have a web site so you can decide for yourself.
  22. I don't see what he was doing as any worse than the guys that do the drink and bacca run, then sell at reduced prices to whoever wants it,. You could say they are depriving the government of revenue , but if the government had not put so much duty on the booze and baccy ,people would not bother to buy elsewhere . Ginger isnt taking anything from the government really , the only people he is hurting are the robbing b*****ds that charge the earth for a few anti - biotics, they have a closed shop, a cartel if you like and, don't want anyone undercutting their exorbitant prices.
