  3. The little fella is a 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddie. My blue dog is collie/ whippet/ beddie/ grey.
  4. Sixty four in November, but I don't feel it, I feel eighty.
  5. Gravity has overtaken my face, making me look miserable,I'm laughing inside. I know just what you mean but hey! At our age who the hell cares You're ok P, in 20 years time you will look, like Joan Bakewell. If I'm still around, I will resemble that Jim Webb line from Macarthur Park ,"someone left a cake out in the rain" shades of W H Auden.

  7. That's always going to be the problem sadly but there are writers out there (Suffolk Bill, Welsh All Black, Colin Didriksen, Paul Dooley, Chris Breen, Simon Fairclough...I could go on) who do manage to write engaging and interesting articles that go miles beyond the "dog chased rabbit" standard and that's what makes them good articles I suppose. You come away feeling as though after the ten minutes spent reading their piece that you know a little bit more about them; about their life and how they interact with dog/quarry/nature. That's a real skill. Some blokes write straight factual stuff

  9. Lovely strong dog ,is he from the same litter as Miles bitch?
  10. All three nice animals,I've a 10 months old pup bred for big land ,all I need now is somewhere to run him.
  11. The most sensible post on this thread so far.Well said, J.The comment below it is," on the money" too.
  12. shes on the 97 forley cup dvd that sniper won .a very good bitch carp will tell you how she was bred .she could spin em thats for sure I think you will find that is Don's Beauty on the 97 Forley. Don won it with Lady the year previously I believe. I saw Lady run on a weekly basis, very fast bitch, good mouth, good stay for a quick actioned bitch. She won the doubles, and singles, and the same in our club. Geoff Ogden wrote an article in the CW entitled , " Don's Lady Wins A Classic".1997 Sniper beat Nancy.
  13. Fenn hares are notoriouse for going in rabbit holes or pipes in the bottom of dry drains. Caught loads like that, with my" Drain Whippet ", just before they got in .
  14. Blondie was absolutely top class, a wonderful bitch , relentless and terrific around cover. She was fortunate to be in the hands of a first class dog man ,who could nurture her potential to its maximum.verb
  15. lucky been dead over two years mate .and he aint covered a bitch in at least four years Marcus had straws taken from Lucky I believe he still has some and intends ,[if he hasnt done it allready ] to use one on Mars, his pure saluki.

  17. I think your message box is full, not surprisingly really.
  18. If the working whippet breeders keep breeding like there doing it will be them responsible for ruining the breed mate, there breeding everything a whippet shouldn't be, and breeding from dogs with known faults and breeding mother x son etc etc. As for breeding hardblood whippet, i just can't see the point in that. if there breeding workers hows that a problem a rossette only tells u that someone likes your dog a potfiller tells you your dog loves you and his job would u say its easier to get working whippet pups or show breed as for hardblood i agree mate I like
  19. On his extensive permission?
  20. I think its hard to rate dogs on just a couple of outings, but having seen Lucky at the Millenium Forley, and owning quite a bit of footage of him I would put him no 1 out of the males.Sniper looks very impressive on tape, and I always liked Red.I've only seen Foxy on video, but she looks a world beater. Foxy, Dancer, Blondie, Snowy, would be up there with Lucky. A good coursing man, and a mate of mine , rates MIles, and Gazza very highly, but I never saw them run. Bitches are supposed to be more lethal ,and they certainly seem to be more precocious than dogs. I always keep dogs just my c
  21. The best male dog I have seen, and one of the truly greatest of coursing dogs.
  22. Banned me after one post which corrected a statement he had made.
