    I used to be keen as feck, to get on the spade,.nothing like crowning down on top of a good ferret, holding fast on a brace of reluctant bolters..but,..nowadays,..I stand back and 'delegate'.... I feel ashamed.....

    I just use Waterproof leggings..same as the ones used by Beaters on pheasant shoots... I've tried all manner of trousers./knee pads,..inserts,.you fecking name it,...but the ole leggings suit me now..

    Would agree 100%.... I was once asked by a fellow offering Mole trapping 'courses',... "What is your objection to us teaching, all and sundry, the 'art of mole catching'....do you want the ancient art to die out' ? I think my reply shocked him,...'Yes',...and you can fecking resurect the 'art',.. when I am retired !!

    Personaly,...if your dog is actually catching rabbits,..willingly fetching them back,...but,.. due to its soft mouth,.is spitting them out as he gets near,...I would not worry... Truth is,...Lurchers can suddenly turn, hardmouthed,..but they rarely,.if ever,.become soft again,...so,.hang on in there.....

    Lets get something straight,...NO hunting man should ever grass up a fellow hunter... However,.we are hunters,..not some East End gang of villains ,.and there is no primitive code of conduct that covers dog and ferret thieves... They deserve no mercy,.they give us none,.so feck em.... Personaly,..I only need a scatter -bred cur for bush/busting,rabbit hunting and general mouching duties,..but if, I were still a keen young Buck..my priorities would be different..... I firmly believe the best way forwards, is to breed and test your stock,...be brave, be realistic and sort out any negatives,...and when you feel that you are even half way to getting the 'type' that you desire,..maybe keep things in the family,..breed close, establish a recognisable line.....and stick with it..
