  1. Bred a litter of exactly that cross once. There was 7 in the litter and 3 of them were killed while hunting. One of them did something that IMO was one of the gamest things I've ever seen a dog do. The one I kept back was too slow for most lurcher work.
  2. If your going to watch telly then why not watch that sort of telly. Of course some of it's staged for the audience. But I always wondered how yer man Rich keeps loosing his hounds when he has tracker collars on them. As for when the lion fell out of the tree and was mixing it with the hounds, I suppose the non-believers will say it was a man in a lion suit.
  3. If the terrier is bred and wanted eventually to hunt coons then that's what you do. Hold it back and in time enter it to coons. Rats IMO are not a part of entering working terriers. They're just something to be controlled and if terriers are the method of control so be it. Lads think the old way of show them a young rat, then an adult rat, then a cub and then an adult fox is how you enter a terrier to fox. If you were a trainer and were training a potential World Champion boxer would you start him off sparring with young lads, no you'd train him and build him up for proper fights. Terrier
  4. Here in Ireland the Irish terrier cross and the scent hound cross were the crosses favored by the serious hare men. J.K.s well known bitch 30 years ago "Chorus" was a beagle cross who was very well known for killing hares for example.
  5. We don't need to see the photos, as you say yourself it's more bad publicity for the staff and not bad owners.
  6. I'm presuming that those who make the laws on trapping still believe the old myth that a mammal caught by the leg will chew it's own leg off to escape.
  7. JMHO but anyone in to their knives should learn how to use a steel and a good stone and there's never an excuse for a blunt knife again. Electric stones etc. IMO can destroy knives and I knew one man who made a living out of using one and he was useless and wrecked good knives. I knew another fellow who work in the fish market and after letting him sharpen your knife you'd be afraid to touch it, LOL. He only used a wet stone.
  8. Great news indeed and proof that micro-chipping does work. Hopefully those responsible shall now be named and shamed (or worse).
  9. you would need to dig two feckin' big holes! first one for the dog to draw from and the second to bury the useless sack of sh#t! I thought a terrier man needed a lurcher to course the fox if it bolted. If he needs it for drawing well then he's not much of a terrier man, is he ? Regarding Wolfhounds, if I remember correctly I think there was a coursing competition held for them years ago and someone wrote afterwards that those Wolfhounds that did reach their quarry didn't want to kill it when they got there. Anyways, the Wolfhound of today is a modern breed, so to speak, they were ext
  10. Vehicles are parked close together at gamefairs so when giving a description of the lurcher also give a description of the vehicle and a time and hopefully it might jogs someones memory. Hope the dog and owner are reunited.
  11. Pigeons for the Missus ? Sounds like a fair swap.
  12. like that film with the bloke and women in the ocean after getting lost diving, 2hrs ffs Like an idiot i sat watching that all the way through wondering what would happen and they just slip away and die....................5 minutes would of been sufficient !! I was going to watch that tonight, no point now.
  13. No, I always pick a bucket or two of mushrooms every year and this year everybody (yourself included) has been telling me about the mushrooms they've been picking but yet I'm out every day in different places and haven't seen any yet. I think everyone has been telling lies, LOL.
  14. When we started the tank I got 20 tetras and they died within a week of two. I've read since that they need a well matured filter and are not suitable for a new filter.
  15. We've had an aquarium in the house now for 7 years and there's now 14 platys in it that were born in it. In fact some of the platys are 2nd generation born in the tank. They share it with Zebra Danios, Plecs and 3 spotted Gouramis. But one thing I remember when we started was the terrible advice we used to get from the so called experts in the shops. I'm not talking about small corner petshops but specialist shops. I'd swear they see novice fish keepers as a licence to print money. They sell you the wrong fish, give bad advice and then when your fish die you go back for more fish and bad ad
  16. If he does he's in trouble when we go over. He'll need to beat Jackie Collins in the bestseller list after us, LOL.
  17. That's old news. The law in N.I. is that it's illegal to course hares in an organised coursing event. It's not illegal to course hares with running dogs if the coursing is not a competition. In other words a couple of lads out with their lurchers on permission hunting hares are not breaking the law. In the Republic it's the opposite Hares can only be hunted or coursed under licence by beagles, harriers or coursed at an official coursing meet run under the rules of the ICC. Coursing hares with lurchers is illegal in the R.O.I. But in the North the USPCA don't give a f**k about the
  18. I'd rather sleep in a ditch ya perv, LOL.
  19. As morton says agricultural show and cant recall it not pissing it down all day Y.I.S Leeview Hope it's not pissing down this year. I prefare to get wet inside not outside, LOL.
  20. There'd be no problem with the hedge trimmings but I'd imagine they'd make it hard in the future to clean out your pens. Hard to beat good straw.
  21. There's the other side of that coin. If his name hadn't been shared with the public then other potential victims or witnesses wouldn't have come forward.
  22. I would think the Catholic clergy would be very anti violence. They only interfered with children who couldn't fight back.

  24. Yep, such a device has been used in the North of Ireland and they'll be using drones soon too so be prepared. If anyone does find such a device on their vehicle can I suggest seeing your local long distance lorry driver for help.
