The mars bar was always an old trick used by beaters while shooting and the reason they'd try and get an extra bit out of their dog was because they were paid to do a job and you can't go home early.
But in the lamping field you go home when you want and a tired dog is time to go home. Knowing when to quit IMO is a sign of a good dog man. Going over board with work on a game lurcher is a novice mistake IMO.
There's also a school of thought that chocolate is bad for dogs.
Electrolytes are an aid to replacing some of the minerals a dog has used up after hard work. Hard work, not being abused.
Good to see I wasn't imagining things.
I could never understand with Red Mills (or most completes) how if you feed a dog 1 lb of meal it shites 1 lb of shite.
Doesn't make sense to me.
Go on Neil buy 2 of them, you know you want to.
I did buy two of them, how did you know ?
Sadly one of them has already quit.
I will let it go however for the bargain price of £700.
If it doesn't work then, tough shit.
"A dog is for life" or in his case £350.
In the real world if your concerned about where your pups end up you gift them to good honest dogmen with the condition being that if they ever decide to part with it that they give it back to you.
That's how honest dogmen have and always will operate.
That's them. They looked good and if I needed a pair I'd have bought them.Fell boots will spoil you for digging and hunting, once your used to them nothing else will do.
to be honest mate they don't look that comfortable to me especially if you have to walk a good distance on rough ground to get to your destination the peacekeepers safety boots are the way forward but everyone is different I suppose
These fellas cover a mile or two each week (and it ain't a fecking bowling green!), none of them wear peacekeepers....!
There's a couple of hundred years of combined hunting kn
There's a nice short video of terrierman Martin Clarke on the Fieldsports Channel if someone knows how to put up a link ?
I still haven't learned how, LOL.
It's ideal for showing someone how legitimate, humane terrierwork is carried out.
That's them. They looked good and if I needed a pair I'd have bought them.

Hoggs are not the boot they used to be.
My first pair lasted 16 seasons with digging up to 6 days a week, I still have them.
5 seasons ago I bought another pair and I'll be surprised if they last another 5.
I seen a pair for sale in England a few weeks ago that looked good. I think the seller said they were made by Keenans.
Just an idea and as an Irish man it wouldn't matter to me but since the rot within the RSPCA is starting to surface how would you go about asking The Queen to remove the R from RSPCA ?
It would be a big loss to them and lets face it the Royal family must be anti RSPCA.
Would it take a petition ?
Kick them in the bollix while they're starting to fall.
Chain mail ?????
Seriously though, there's no such thing as rip proof or thorn proof and after a while Waterproof.
If your not coming home with your legs cut, scratched and sore then you ain't doing enough hunting.
Hence the reason every Autumn I buy 6 or 7 pairs of brown or green jeans in Pennys or Dunnes Stores for a tenner a pair and don't have to cry when I'm throwing them in the bin after a few hunts.
I'd look after me feet with good boots alright but trousers wont last IMO.
Reminds me of the joke,
A woman has two pet monkeys.
They both die and she brings them to a taxidermist.
"Would you like them mounted" he asked her.
"No, holding hands will do" she replies.
