  1. I brought a small sandy hob out yesterday. It was his first time ever in a burrow and he bolted 5 rabbits. He's over two years old. Ferrets do naturally what ferrets do.
  2. Personally I've always liked a cobby type, particularly a bitch. Seen some very good cobby types over the years and Fatman of here's "Tod" springs to mind.
  3. Weak lambs in September ????? When were they born ? I had a fox that would go in to a trap and reach over the foot plate and steal the bait so I tied the bait to the mesh and the tugging caused the trap to shut. If he'll go half in then he'll probably go fully in , eventually. Makes me laugh when I hear about leaving the trap open for a week so he can go in and out of it, LOL. A fox can do a lot of damage in that week.
  4. Perfect is right, it's a beauty .
  5. A proper vet would be more concerned about what's currently wrong with the dog so it sounds to me that you should get yourself a proper vet.
  6. Bucks will often attack young rabbits in the nest or older.
  7. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=44 There's only a small mention of obesity in that and I've read before that tomatoes can burn internal fat in humans. Also some gamefowl breeders feed their birds tinned tomatoes because they burn internal fat. Do tinned tomatoes do the same in dogs ?
  8. That is quiet interesting. I know there's a woodland fungi that used to be dried and used to sharpen knives like a leather strap. The greyhound thing must be something similar.
  9. Any time so far this year that I've seen mushrooms I've been out with the terriers and had my hands full. But if I go for a stroll I see feck all. Mind you it's raining here at the minute so there should be a few around in the morning.
  10. There all good IMO and some lads have using them down to a fine art, some lads don't. BUT whatever one you go for ALWAYS put a collar on your dog, even your little bolter as some day you'll be glad of it. Things can go wrong in the easiest of places with the most careful of terriers.
  11. Yep, have drank my fair share of Poteen for sure, or as some call it, a drop of the Craiture.
  12. Best of luck with them Liam. She's a nice old fashioned type and at that age 2 pups might be ideal. Good luck , mind you, at this time of year if she was a younger bitch I don't think breeding would be your plan with her, LOL.
  13. I'd be looking forward to the Glenmorangie most, a double malt I think. Nearly caused me to fall out with good friend once but it's good stuff nonetheless.
  14. A real Shillelagh should be covered in blood and sweat, LOL, no really as they were used by the Celts as a weapon. It looks nice and IMO a clear varnish would finish it nicely.
  15. I'd gladly pay a fiver a tripe nowadays as all my local slaughter houses now bleach them, cook them and send them off to Poland. That and the fact that they're not allowed to sell it anymore.
  16. I've been looking at this argument for many years now and IMO it's those that enjoy ratting and bushing that seem to take the most offence and cause the most argument . It's like they're trying to tell themselves that they truly have the best workers. You must be a tough one Keith to chase rabbits in the pissing rain for 3 hours, LOL, try digging in it for 3 hours or even worse, 2 days. The truth is that most dogs will catch rats and bush and good terriers that work well underground usually make top class ratters and tend to be good in covert but it doesn't usually work the other way aroun
  17. Most women would go for a man who could blow his own trumpet.
  18. Yes, if that is what the farmer wanted the collie to do and he is happy with his collie dog. Who are we to judge. And if you had a good working collie bitch and needed good working bred collie pups would you bring your bitch to the collie dog that can kill 30 rats ???
  19. Yes, they're telling us for a few years now that we produce too much beef hence too much methane. BUT, it's well known in North America in the early 19th century there were herds of large game numbering 100s of 1000,000s. They used to say it would take 4 days on a good horse to ride bye one herd of Bison. But then again global warming hadn't been invented yet.
  20. One bit of acting that really pisses me off is in the programme "Swamp People". 9 times out of 10 the gator rises quietly to the surface and they just stand in the boat looking at it. "shoot the f***ing thing" but NO, they wait 'till it goes mad and starts rolling and thrashing. Sometimes it gets shot several times and sometimes it get off with a big hook in it's stomach. It's obvious that the producers don't want a gator brought quietly to the boat and quickly shot but want drama, screaming and shouting for the viewers all at the animals suffering. A camera put on a leg hold trap in "Moun
  21. Seems to me you wanted the PERFECT dog for £150.
  22. I was going to read it until someone told me the main character dies in the end.
