  1. A bit of subject lads, But when I see this sort of topic on here it makes me appreciate the Gun Club system we have here in Eire. Anything from hundreds of acres to thousands of acres with a few hundred pheasants released, plenty of ducks, snipe, woodcock and vermin all for 100 to 200 euro including insurance. The clubs release the game and keep the farmers on our side and that's it for nearly 30 days shooting a year. A good system.
  2. When you say "any help appreciated" I presume you mean your friend needs help. I would agree, anyone looking for a Kerry Blue on a working terrier forum needs help. Sorry, couldn't resist it.
  3. Apparently there's a lot of bush meat sent illegally through the post from Africa to family members in Europe, can that be stopped ? Very worrying.
  4. Great to see so many fit, healthy dogs. Prides and joys.
  5. Seems to be a common occurrence over your side of the Irish sea lads. Just an idea but if that risk was always hanging over me i'd have a copy of the Hunting Act in my glove compartment with some sections highlighted. Might get you home for your tea a bit earlier and it would show the police that your aware of your rights.
  6. The rat diet looks to have him in good pelt Trenchfoot. Imagine the quality in a month or two.
  7. A few hares will turn a dog hard mouthed quicker than foxes in my experience.
  8. Fair play Rob, Your work pushes boundaries. But sadly I have bad news for you, Everyone knows foxes don't take lambs, LOL, yours in sport, keep up the good work.
  9. Thanks Sandymere, that's better advice than those that say feed an hour after work.
  10. Good luck but in todays climate most lads are suspicious of newcomers. It's a pity but there's plenty out there who would love to set up a terrier man and have him fitted up for breaking the law. Personally over the years most young lads I helped along the way were usually the first to go behind my back and hunt my permissions and cause trouble for me. Unfortunately, in the terrier game there's a lot of lads who think they know it all after half a dozen digs and decide to paddle their own canoe. IMO it takes 20 years of regular terrierwork to become a terrierman. Anyone else is a novice IMO
  11. Write out a letter stating that the said farmer has given you permission to hunt his lands at (townland) and leave a space for the farmer to sign. Make a few copies and hand one to the nephew to get signed and tell the nephew there's a bottle in it for him when he brings the signed letter back to you.
  12. Very good, interesting post there Sandymere. I know some lads when starting conditioning starve for 72 hours but at the 48 hour stage they give 2 litres of a very weak ox-tail soup which the dog will drink quickly and this detoxes the kidneys by flushing them. A lot of lads let a dog cool down before feeding (I'm talking about exercising here, not work as the dog will cool down in the vehicle anyway) but I once heard that in humans if you eat within 20 minutes of hard exercise you get maximum benefit from your food. Do you know if this is the same with dogs ?
  13. I can't tell you Marshman, they said they ban me from the site.
  14. That's if you feed BARF Socks, and most lads don't. I do now and feed every day but when I used to feed a complete meal I used to feed 6 out of 7 because A. it was the way I was taught and B. because when fed complete I believe they needed it. Complete food is that bad I do believe a dog needs the chance to get every ounce of it out of their body. I often weighted my dogs too when given a day off and from 24 to 48 hours they don't loose an ounce. Also it used to baffle me how a full pack of foxhounds could work so well and keep their condition while hunting 2 days a week (hard, proper hunti
  15. Just had a P.M. of a member on here, turns out, there is such a thing as Cockadale. It's a gay festival held in Yorkshire.
  16. For thousands, 35 years of line breeding, LMAO.
  17. Just out of interest, what would the average weight of a dog mink be ? I've weighted plenty of foxes over the years and they can stir the imagination as well as make a liar out of ya.
  18. If Pit Bulls are now fashionable in Merle then they aint Pit Bulls. The true PB is without a doubt the most pure bred breed there is (even more than the foxhound and greyhound IMO) and if they're now in a new colour then an outcross has been made which means they're not PBs anymore, a type maybe but not purebred PBs. Sorry for going off topic, face it your lurchers a collie cross, but the APBT is a breed close to my heart.
  19. Could someone please put up a picture of a merle Pit Bull please, and a unicorn while they're at it.
  20. OK, I was writing my post as you wrote that it wasn't the RSPCA. The local authorities will still need to bring in the police if they suspect there's an animal cruelty case.
  21. It's all well and good saying "tell them to f**k off" or "You have rights" but this man is in Northern Ireland where the authorities are very anti terrierwork whether it's legal or not. One of the little Hitlers that's over the USPCA is well known for telling lies and setting folk up so they can confiscate their dogs and kill them. To put your mind at ease (and your wife's) get your terrier to the vet and have it checked over and get something on paper that say's your terrier if healthy and the scars are old. Never, ever think you'll always win against the lies that the USPCA will tell. Th
  22. There's no such thing as a Cockadale. Unless it's a place in Northern England I've never heard off.
