Who'd Be Brave Enough To Shoot This Mutta Fukka
neil cooney replied to jigsaw's topic in General Talk
We'd call that a pea shooter. -
I thought I had read every book ever written on the olde sports but Badger Fighting, where traditionally two badgers fought each other in the pit (illegal since 1835) is a new one on me. I wont be surprised if the words Face and Book are part of the investigation, I might be wrong though.

Any Good Vets In Yorkshire For Working Terriers
neil cooney replied to astrix's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
So Stud dog your an expert on all the internal organs, the skeleton, the digestive system, the brain, all skin ailments and everything else that might inflict the working terrier ? Any clown can throw a stitch in a dog but to have a good and sensible vet that you can bring a terrier to that has been worked without fear of being falsely reported for breaking the law is the benefit of knowing a good vet. -
I'd give my right hand to be ambidextrous.

I seen sloes today purple in colour and seen Curlew this morning passing over. Yesterday I seen 6 snipe landing beside a river, that's something you don't usually see around here 'till November. The Autumn sure has sneaked in.

Instead of a blow up doll they found a living doll.

Any Good Vets In Yorkshire For Working Terriers
neil cooney replied to astrix's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
The Anti's would love such a list. It wouldn't do a vets business any good if the anti's declared a vet to be pro-hunting. Any terrier man in this day and age who has a vet who's sympathetic to working dogs doesn't know how lucky he is and should protect their vet from harassment. Seems to be a lot of newbies on here lately fishing for similar information. -
South Paw myself and apparently our life span is 10 years shorter on average. I've a left handed aunt in her 80s who was educated by Nuns and they battered her at school 'till she wrote perfectly with her right hand. She still does and does everything else with her left hand. Kitt Og is the old Irish term for a left handed person, not sure I've spelt it right though, LOL.

OK, so you don't believe in Hell but we're told that there's no Heaven without Hell. Then again, a few years ago the Christians decided to get rid of a place called LIMBO. Limbo was a place where un-baptised children who died went. Hence the term "stuck in Limbo." That's why Catholic children used to be Baptised before they left the hospital. One woman I knew lost a new born before it was Baptised and spent a lot of years in anguish worrying about her child stuck in Limbo. A few years later the Catholic Church turns around and says "Limbos gone". Imagine how she felt. I hate religion

The 11th Commandment - Thou shalt not talk shite on the Hunting Life. That's down below full so. I once worked with a born again Christian. I asked him one day "what's the most elastic substance known to man kind ?" He asked "what is ?" I said "The human skin, it's written in the Bible." He said "where ?" I said "the bit where it says ' Jesus tied his Ass to a tree and walked 40 miles into the desert." He told me I'll be going to hell.

I'm a bit confused now. So according to the Good Book and truthful book too, Adam lived to be 800 and was he fathering kids when nearly 800 ? If he had sons and daughters (I was always told he only had 2 sons) was mankind developed from father to daughter, son to mother or brother to sister matings ? And I thought my terriers were inbred.
-
It was also on BBC Breakfast. Showed Cwiss Packham standing on his soap box shouting through a loud haler surrounded by tree huggers holding "save the Hen Harriers" banners.
-
Since this thread started BBB I'd say you've converted many..................to Atheism. Answer my question, If Adam and Eve only had two sons how did mankind begin ?
-
This thread has been the most entertaining in a long time and makes me say to myself "Thank God I'm an Atheist." Poor old Robin Williams died last night. Does anyone remember the stand up show he did where he said he had proof that God smoked Dope. "Just look at the Duck Billed Platypuss." Question for Big Brian. If the Bible is the truth isn't it true Adam and Eve only had two sons ? What happened next ?

What's next ? Lennox Lewis to come out of the closet ?

Doomed Generation!!!
neil cooney replied to Tomhill131's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I laughed at a show on the telly one night when some people were in a river swimming. They called it "Wild Swimming". I said to my daughter "we used to call that Swimming." I seen last week in a local paper that a Councillor was trying to stop local kids swimming in an old quarry. These kids were getting fresh air and exercise in the outdoors and not in the sterile environment of the local pool (which is 10 miles away) . I know accidents can happen but IMO if you wrap children up in cotton wool accidents are more likely to happen than to kids who were raised in the great outdoors. Was it -
Judging by the age of those chicks she might have had a few more but some have been taken, pity as she's a nice hen.

My advice Irishman, You now have a spare collar.

Missing Duck And Dead Duck?
neil cooney replied to Popovs Garden Craft's topic in Fowl & Feather Talk
Never underestimate the jumping power of a fox, even with a 2 lb duck in it's mouth. I got a phone call one day of a farmer who heard a commotion in his hen house, in fact it was a large old cow house. He opened the door and every chicken was dead (26) but the fox was still in it. He locked the door thinking he'd captured the fox and rang me. I went down with the gun and a terrier just in case. I opened the door slightly and slipped in. No fox. The only way out was where one block had been left out of the wall for ventilation . In other words the only escape was a small hole 9" X 14" ar -
This post tells me Jigsaw that some culling does indeed need to be done. But not in your kennel.

Just my two cents worth but when we wanted anything out of an underground burrow but didn't want to kill them we'd soak pine cones in Creosote for a few days and put them in the burrow. The smell would shift anything.
-
I remember it well Fatman, I also remember the day we killed 2 foxes that were lieing beside the little pond and a week later when we passing the same little pond killing 2 more.

The way the ground is at the moment is good for nothing so bring on the rain I say, the more the merrier.

That's handy Tiercel but blackberries must be very early over your way. I've seen a few but would struggle to pick 700 grams.

Used to do it. It's only worth your while when your down to the last acre or two and we used to rely on the driver standing up and looking into the corn to tell us something was on the move. But I do remember having to run at the combine to turn a fox that was heading back towards it. If I remember correctly he turned again and got to ground where we dug him.
