  1. We'd better not confuse the issue by mentioning that some folk believe that the black colour comes from Scottish terrier blood, the Chocolates come from a Springer spaniel accidental mating, the white chests, feet and toes comes from a Sealyham outcross and that a very influential sire in the last few years had JRT blood in it from the great line of Mr Duggans. OH, and then the fact that a lot of black terriers here in Ireland in the last 15 years or so had Sam in them, who was out of a pure border called Dandy. When a son of Sams was sent to stud in the states (for $2000) the seller forgot t
  2. That's true General, but does he not want it for hunting ? IMO to take on such an animal to do a days work will result in another dog thrown in a dogs home next year or so. The breeder wont care as the cheque will be cashed and spent by then. Someone mentioned Skoda's and Ferrari's. IMO with dog work if you have the chance to enter a Ferrari in a local soapbox derby then you should. There's no such as thing "too much dog" in this game IMO.
  3. IMO those boots would still have another good 10 years of hunting a few times a week in them. But tell me, if you bought them where would you get them re-soled if needed. I send my Hoggs Fell boots back to them when needed but one time a cobbler was boasting to me about how good he was but when I showed him my Fell boots he shit himself. Even so, those advertised boots are bargains.
  4. Very sorry to hear that Marshman. Never a good time for a friend and family man to pass but particularly sad at this time of year. R.I.P.
  5. Reminds me of one from a few years back. A gun dealer I used to buy a few bits from told me he was dressed for a dinner one night (Tux and bow tie) when he got a call to say that two Garda officers (policemen) were standing on the side of the road beside a wounded deer and needed someone with a firearm to finish the job. He said he'd go out but was under pressure and didn't want to be late. He brought a hornet .22 with him. He arrived at the scene and one of the coppers asked him what they needed to do to sort out the deer for the table. He explained that as soon as he'd shot the beast it
  6. That used to be how they'd entrap lads but nowadays they just look at Facebook and the lads have volunteered up all the info themselves.
  7. Mustn't bother her that much if she put it on Youtube.
  8. is your,s the pulse or the element neil never seen the pulse in feet mate dont know about the element though Pulse. Just as well, I'm old fashioned.
  9. We have an old saying this side of the world. "A fool and his money are easily parted". Bare that in mind. Try this, ring every add for EBT's that you see and I'll bet you that 90% of them have the gamest dogs there are. Try it ?
  10. IMO a bird that had just dropped in. Well done that man, fair play, they're a fantastic bird.
  11. Too true Downsview, they're an amazing animal and the more you meet them the more fascinating they become, same as most of our quarry species. Regarding foxes being half asleep ? I've seen terriers nail them while curled up twice. Both times the fox was on the back of a bank curled up in the sun. I also know a lad who was walking along a racehorse gallops and came on a fox in the sand asleep. He had a gun with him and went to shoot the fox from a couple of yards away, and missed !!!!!!! Also regarding foxes walking out of an earth after being bolted. You'll be amazed how often this happens
  12. There was an award winning photograph a few years ago of a wolf jumping a gate. Unbelievable picture but the owner of the trail cam was in bed when it was took. No skill there IMO. I can't see how that photo Jigsaw put up could be taken with a trail cam though, so IMO that takes patience and skill to be there at the right moment. It's a great, dramatic pic.
  13. Great pic. One thing I've noticed the last few year is that a lot of these great pics are taking with trail cameras. I'm not saying that one was, but IMO it's cheating.
  14. JMHO but I can never see how carpet could be as warm or comfortable as a few inches of good straw. To me carpet suits owners, not dogs. Good healthy dogs in good kennels will be 100% satisfied on straw.
  15. Good job. Nice to see a mask with the mouth closed for a change, something I like.
  16. Great job Socks. Start them young, by the time that pup is two it will carry them home, skin them, butcher them and cook them.
  17. Fortunately my permissions don't suffer too much attention from cowboys but this time last year I found one of my favourite earth wrecked, totally destroyed. 5 holes dug, all into the tubes. None backfilled. I spent one and a half hours doing the best job I could repairing the earth but as I walked away I was sure that this earth was finished. Today I had a real nice dig in it. So lads, learn how to backfill correctly and the earths will repay you time and time again.
  18. A Royal I think and very much in condition. Great pic, I'd have it framed.
