  1. FPT have gotten a bit too big for their boots. I too am awaiting a quotation for tunnel traps from elsewhere. SS and to a truer dimension. Swanseajack, they had me waiting only 28 days, so i guess i was fortunate, however, one of the springs have already popped off the body, this was with the first mole! not good.
  2. Bryn, the best way with farmers is 'little and often'. It's easier to get £200 week for five weeks out of them than a grand in one lump.
  3. It's a puppy going through puberty. Put it away from quarry for a month or two and give it a rest until it's over the silly stage. JMHO.
  4. This sort of thing should be publicised and pushed more.
  5. Without knowing what song he was singing it might be a willow warbler.....
  6. A female robin will start brooding the eggs properly as soon as the clutch is complete. Once she's sat tight the male will be relied upon to feed her on the nest. After about 12-13 days the chicks will hatch.
  7. I've had one set for two days, but as yet no action. I shall keep on trying though.
  8. Always a good feeling! Twice I've had a double where one mole was white....that was nice.
  9. Maybe you're triggers are set too heavy? Just a guess?
  10. If the traps are getting filled in that quantity I'd say it was down to the person rather than the mole. One thing I have often thought about though is the condensation that adheres to the roof of the duffus.
  11. Bone Radiol and he shouldn't be off for that amount of time mate. Unless it's a joint.
  12. A lens is rated in 'speed'...the technical terms are the F value. F2.8 is about the best you can get , (broadly speaking), and there is a great deal of difference between F2.8 and F 5.6. For action shots get the lowest F value you can afford....and, at the end of the day, todays photographs often comes down to the quality of lens...and this, in turn, comes down to the money that is available to spend...
  13. I have a second hand D300,....I thought that I had cracked the Instruction Manual,..I thought that I understood ? Sadly,..I don't... I realise that this Nikon camera was designed with the Semi pro in mind, and it is presumed that the operater has a firm grasp of the various dials,.but,.truth is, I wish that there was an AUTO facility....a kind of, 'point and shoot' menu... I am fed up, travelling to a far away destination ,..allowing my cur to hunt up her quarry,..only for me to waste the opportunity of an action shot. Upon reflection,...the Nikon D300 was maybe a bridge too far
  14. I really rate the Nikon's above the Canons....
  15. To be honest, there's enough experienced people on this forum to help any beginner. Sure, when you're talking about flash speed and all that then things get complicated. BUT,. the rules of photography are simple. There's only three things to concern a beginner and all three are related to the central force of 'available light'. Depth of field (f) ISO Shutter speed... Nothing else should be of concern to the beginner....or anyone for that matter. If anyone is unsure about something, just put a post up and I'm sure everyone here will try their best.
  16. Same trap, different cubby........... two in this today in only a few hours.
  17. This trap is from the USA and used for catching racoons by their front foot, which are actually more like hands. A spring holds the racoons foot when he puts his paw inside the hole to retrieve bait, often a marshmallow. A proper well, made item, solid and strong. Just thought I'd post a pic for anyone who's not seen one before....... All the best fella's.....JD
  18. No buddy, what you will find with a full moon, is that the birds are only visible in front of the moon, leaving a hell of alot of black night out there that you can't see anything against. When there's plenty of cloud you can see everything in the trees no matter what angle and no matter where you look. All that stuff about 'tis my delight on a moonlit night' is a load of tosh.
  19. No, a full moon is the worst thing. You want nice fluffy pink cloud.
  20. It's not wildlife that is the problem, but humans...
  21. canon 5d mkiii That cameras wasted on you....send it to me...
  22. As long as precautions were taken to exclude non-targets and the catch was accidental then no law was broken IMO.
