What is going wrong? How come people can't catch in Talpex? Is the trap being triggered and no mole in it? If so, don't set in the conventional manner. Place the trap in the ground. If the soil is heavy then trip the trap, then reset. I then place a couple of 'balls' of compressed soil under the trigger on both sides, then 'backfill' the trap with compressed balls from the nearest hill. I do not backfill with loose soil anymore. I'm not saying thats the right way, just my way. Give it a go and I guarantee you'll catch...

Why don't you like them MT?? I catch dozens a week in them. I wouldn't be without mine.

I have 50 of them and rate them highly. Well made and strong and should last a lifetime, hopefully.

I've got a Stilh(£220). No probs. My mate bought a cheapo from amazon, half the price. lasted a few months, now he's looking for another one. We all look at things differently.

Welcome...and a good read... -
The jay....squizzers already dead and this one-eyed bandit doesn't want to see the nuts go to waste! He's probably got a girl to woo somewhere.....Wonder how he lost his eye...I bet I bump into him again.

It is the first box I've made for a kania, and I think I'm going to try and make a mink one next. I've since given this squirrel one a few tweeks as there was a slight gap and he managed to get in further than I wanted. Still a kill to the upper body, but, where there's room for improvement, there's room for improvement...I actually watched a nuthatch going all the way in to steal nuts..and a one-eyed jay must have a headache from pecking at the perspex! Will try and find a piccy...

I've grown many bushes over the years, for feeding butterflies and moths. You might just be able to order some, but it will be touch and go. Have a look on ebay. Blackthorn is better than hawthorn IMO. And you will get sloes in a few years time. Soak the root for ten minutes before you plant them. Trim them back next March, they grow fast.

Shame it didn't clip a couple of inches of your nose off....would have saved you a fortune in nose reduction....

Whats The Best Photo You Ever Missed ?

I was out with the camera in the snow a few years back. I was actually driving along from one place to another when I saw a rabbit running across the middle of a huge field through the snow. You know when something just doesn't look right? Well, I knew something was amiss. Rabbits do not do that kind of thing. About 15 seconds had elapsed since the rabbit had gone out of sight when a stoat came into view, running the rabbits scent. Again, in the snow. So i watched, got the camera out and mooched closer. Another minute later and th rabbit came back across the field, this time with the stoat o -
AT LAST!!! I've joined the Beagle club! But the mole was caught too far back, though I cannot see any way of tuning the monstrosity to get a cleaner kill. maybe pile some soil up in front of the trigger?...Least I broke me duck...

Buzzard IMO. Loads about everywhere you look now.

How can it be an albino if it has black barring on it? tut tut...come on now Tiercel..........it's actually a yellow form of golden pheasant. I like the pure bird myself.
-
Get a Beagle slapped in!!!! Can you post a piccy of the situation...someone might have an idea. In what way is the mole not getting caught? Is it avoiding the trap or disturbing the trap?

One chap with a pair of chocolate bull crosses in the beer tent told me his dogs retrieve roe deer back to him.

So what do you gain from nationalising land? Who will manage the land and who will fund it? How do you replace the lost revenue to the local economy? Do you think land reform should extend to the rivers and the salmon beats that toffs own and pay to fish should it be open to the public? Dan, they never have an answer for that. The group trying to ban grouse shooting on Ilkley moor are a classic case in point. No answer on what to do to maintain the biodiversity of the moor. Even less of a clue as to who will pay for it. And when you dig deep enough, the key drivers behind the fuss isa
