  1. DO NOT bag hares. Crate them or they may die. Crate them in boxes where they can't move too much. They are an animal that gets stressed, in a bag they will suffocate.
  2. Her boyfriend.....he would feed out of my hand.
  3. JD can't wait for your DVD to be done! From the little snippets you've shared with us, looks the making of an excellent watch! Think its something different, showing so many methods of trapping, with different traps and different target species! I think it's going to be a while yet as I want more footage of rats and a few of the mustalids. I have dozens and dozens of squirrel catches but they would be boring if thats all there was on it. I am trying to get the end result about an hour long and, if it goes ok and I break even, to make another one the following year. But it's all if's
  4. Easy. Piece of pi$$ to set mate. I have actually simplified it now so I don't need to bend a nail. Also have another idea for the next tweek I'm going to do..... It's all going onto the little dvd I'm making. I have three actual catches filmed already, but it took me 5 weeks and God knows how many £ worth of batteries to get the first one. it's a bit difficult!
  5. smart that is. The Perspex front is a good idea......will sav a few kids fingers that are out looking for eggs lol Its so I can film the catch mate....
  6. ha ha ...well, no. I'm just a messer. I jacked the birds, I spewed, so I can't blame anyone for thinking I'm half -hearted with the job. If I'd have wanted to prove a point I'd have filled this forum with piccys....lol....but life's too short.... My opinion on sick birds is still the same, they rarely recover. But that's only what I found from experience. maybe my stocksmanship left something to be desired? Who knows eh? It's all in the past now as I finished with the birds back in 2007 (I think).
  7. Here ya go buddy..... I've not seen this set-up before (though I will stand corrected), it's one I thought up myself. I have actually moved on from this prototype now, to a simpler one, but I can't find a pic of it....... The snare is not the correct height in this pic...though... Hope you find it useful.
  8. I don't use a tealer at all, the nail serves as a trigger and tealer in one......
  9. IMO too thick...get 0.7...a bag of sea fishing crimps, and thats all ya need...you don't need swivels, these may rattle in the wind and scare the rats. Keep it real simple......but thats just MO....
  10. What? You said that Badgers had FULL legal protection from 1973...you were wrong. I pointed that out to you and you changed your story. And yes, there were kids that were on badger digs at 6 years old and have seen a badger dug legally. I didn't reply because life's too short.
  11. Awesome.......it's nice to see a gudgeon too...
  12. I think that's what Glen made some squirrel snares out of he sent me down to try, quite probably better than the standard brass o use. Yes, it pisses all over brass, and they are much more durable to teeth....
  13. Tigertail 0.7 mm stainless wire. Some nails and some silicone rubber. Thats what i use.....
  14. Thanks for the kind words chaps. The next book will be xmas, and it will be all lamping. I have spent quite a good few years trying to master the photography techniques to do it. Lots of pics of quarry being hunted under artificial beam. I hope that lads will like what they see, action pics on every page. And yes, Tomo's ugly mush might be in one or two of them.....
  15. What point would that be buddy?
  16. Oh...had it set for a few hours today. First blood. Perfect catch placement.
  17. One of these didn't live much longer...still from a trail cam...
  18. i have known of a similar story perthshire keeper, my uncle reared a couple from pups down through the years amazing to see how tame they get, this was before the protection act of 1976. a license could be obtained to hunt otters in ireland for a period after this act, but if memory serves me right the packs agreed to stop hunting otters and instead all agreed to change to hunting mink as they were vermin and no licence needed, and like all good sporting hunters if the species was in danger they should be rightly left alone......here in munster it has been documented to have one of the healthi
  19. She's thrown very racey......I bet she can move....
  20. Hi, I didn't write it matey. My company published it.
  21. Not a cage or aviary bird, so excuse me. This was a house martin juvenile that I was handed back in the floods of summer 2008 (i think). I kept him warm and dry and packed him with food. His training flights to build his muscles up were in my front room! he was released back exactly where he had been found laying in the road and near to death. I hope he lasted long enough to see Africa.
  22. I never got her steady, not proper steady. I don't think they're designed to be steady. However, she'd let me take a pic on the nest from a couple of feet away.....
  23. Starting work on the rough outer layer of the nest....
