  1. Some fair comments on here, and BB I think the badger ban was '73 not '78.
  2. I believe the 'Barney' dog was a black and tan from Barnard Castle, there's a pic of it in Frain's 'Middleton' book. I've a couple of mates that have a grandson and great grandson of the dog and they're both fox only at best.
  3. I think to breed off a bitch or dog that hasn't made the grade regardless of the breeding goes against everything we strive for, and I don't like the 'oh but it's got all the right blood etc etc' because surely the blood can't be that good for it to leave you in a predicament to want to breed or even keep a dog that has spewed?? And also how many times in that dog's pedigree have other 'non workers' been bred off because 'the blood's right'? I think NCooney is correct aswell saying to breed off the dog/ bitch out of a good working litter rather than an outstanding dog/bitch that was the only
  4. I've seen a couple of whites from black parents, also recently seen black pups that have a lot of white on them (chin, chest and feet). Just a case of mixed breeding (Russell, Patterdale, bull etc.)in the pedigree of the parents I'd say.
  5. I'm sure it was N.T from Wakefield and not Wheeler that owned 'Charlie'.
  6. Out of all 3 books there's about ten genuine 'terriermen' that have been there and done it, he should have done a book on them and left it at that, he's overdoing it now and it must be only for one reason £££££££
  7. If you want some advice don't buy the new 'Digging The Dirt', it's f*****g terrible. It seems to me that he just interviews anyone that owns a terrier, not to mention his terrible spelling and his writing style just doesn't make sense when you read it.
  8. Dogs looking well, long time no speak mate.
  9. Like has been said you can find a fox anywhere this time of year, badger setts, rabbit eaths, bale stacks, drains, artificials...and that comment about it should smell of fox is a load of shite. The chances are the earths that smell of fox are the one's the dogs (foxes) have pissed on to mark their territory.
  10. Did the case against the Heythrop get thrown out of court then?
  11. Badger digging with terriers by Harcombe is a good book, so is Work Them Hard... by DH. The Nick Stevens book is a good read and also the little terrierbooks that Darcy does are decent.
  12. If I could get hold of some I'd use them for kennels, they have a lot of advantages over wood...cough cough...
  13. I'm smack bang in the middle of all your permission...any invites... :whistling:
  14. Very good pic, send it down to me if you don't want it lol
  15. Lukey I like the idea BUT it's going to havto be good to be effective and CHEAP which is the main thing! Good luck and keep us updated mate... PS- 'This time next year Rodney...we'll be millionaires!'lol
  16. What's the thread called on Moochers that they're on?
  17. A dog that I had high hopes for, lost to ground mid-way through his second season.
  18. Half sister through dam or sire Brog? Dogs are looking well by the way.
  19. I didn't realise that 'Nan' was their sister DEE. Heard good things about that bitch...
  20. Well I rang them last week and explained the problem, they said send it in, which I did. And I've just got a brand new one in the post this morning, couldn't ask for a better service...happy days.
  21. Why is there such little attention to the bloke who's on the floor? He's the one who needed attention, I'd have shot the f*****g dog aswell, whether it's protecting it's owner or not, if it had grabbed a young child before it was shot everyone would have been singing the coppers praises.
  22. The number of terriers you keep should depend on how many days a week you are out and how much land you have access to. However it's a fine line because you have got to make way for dogs that don't make the grade etc etc so it depends ultimately on what you find manageable. I have one entered dog, one ready to enter and a young pup. And that's enough for me!
  23. F*ck me there are some thick c*nts on here, I'm sure all the thick people in the country gather together and come on here, I've never heard anything like it, if the last few posts don't sum it up to a tee what a professional terrierman is then I don't know what will. PS- No one is saying that a Professional is better than an amateur at anything, just simply stating that a Professional does it for a living...simple as that!
