  1. I don't understand all this hype and talk about this 'Church' line of Lakelands, I live in the next town from him and hand on heart I've never heard anyone around me mention the line never mind own one! It seems this internet likes to make (and slate) hero's! I hear he's in the hunt job now so must be working the little dogs to some extent at least.
  2. Nice pup Dabchick, a pup of Brog's 'Alan' is it? Looks a similar stamp. Good luck.
  3. I don't think them photos are a very good advertisement for what humane digging is, especially on an open forum where anyone could get their grubby hands on them and use them on the anti sites. And what is the need for two dogs in the hole at once?
  4. I've had Lowa's for 3 seasons, and I think they're a good pair of boots. Just bought a pair of Altberg Warriors in brown, my mate is in the Para's and reckons they're the best boots as it's what they use and they're in them everyday doing miles. So I'll be starting with them next season.
  5. I think it's a decent little book, I enjoyed reading it anyway. I think he's 50 or thereabouts.
  6. I know of a bitch that was the last of a line that a few close mates had kept between them for 20+ years, for one reason or another they never tried to line her till she was 9, first time she never took so tried her again next time in season and she had 2 pups and ate them both the first night of having them and that was that. End of a good blood line just like that.
  7. A few of my favourites are 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest', 'Goodfellas', 'The Green Mile', 'Forrest Gump' and 'Donnie Brasco'.
  8. I'm in the North East, what would be the best to join? I don't think there's enough advertising for the terrier clubs to make regular lads aware of them in their area, I would willingly join one as I'm sure all my mates would. Could someone not put a link up on here for clubs?
  9. This is a hunting forum, not an anti, raving mad, tree hugging site, they might like to listen and believe that shite but we don't. The reason for the TB problem is because of the boom in the badger population since they have become a 'protected' pest, simple as that.
  10. Dug 10 foot to a dog baying at fresh air, never dug a rabbit with one of my dogs but have with mates dogs, dug to a young dog digging up a tiny tube, lifted him out and two rats jumped out... , dug a young dog 16 times in his first season, including a few deep/long ones and never put a foot wrong, took him down country for a days digging on invite and he did 5 minutes in a one holer that was about a foot deep and wouldn't re-enter, so tried him at a different earth and same again, had been with the game both times before quitting cold, there's nothing stranger than terriers.
  11. They certainly are, pulled him today and he was taking the piss the b*****d lmao
  12. I think there is no comparison between greyhound/horse breeding and terrier breeding. Greyhounds and horses win races because they are the fastest (best physical specimens) whereas the best physical specimen of terrier isn't necessarily the best worker.
  13. Just had a look on a hunting book website and it says they have a Second Edition edition of this book, reprinted in 2005? Does anyone know whether there was a reprint? As I'm sure it says on Darcy's website that he won't reprint any of his books??
  14. Could you put a pic up of the shovel from a side view please.
  15. This beats watching Emmerdale anyday...
  16. The fact there was a few decent lads on it, that posted regular about their digging days out and there was non of the shit that you get on here from the keyboard warriors that do f**k all but slag every man and his dog off.
  17. Just been on his forum, the gist is that he (Bluck) has put an advert up saying he has two spare pups for the right homes, but when lads have asked into it he's said they're £250 each!! Also having a slanging match with some of the Irish lads that he's done chapters on in his new book...seems like it's all gone pear shaped.
  18. Yep was defo the best forum at one time the old Patt BBS site, but I think a lot has changed in regards to terriers and the internet even just in the last 2 or 3 years where it could never be how it was...
  19. Didn't a lot of the old timers used to say breeding a steady badger dog to a hard fox bitch often produced good pups?
  20. Definitely good digging bitches about, it's just that the lads that keep them don't shout their mouths off or advertise pups or studs, so unless you know them personally you won't know what they have. Also I think the statement about the Gouldy bitches is a bit vague, is there such thing as a 'Gouldy' line anymore?
