I remember one time reading the adverts in a vets window in Rotaroa and there was an advert for possum cullers. They stayed in a bush cabin, food was provided and they were paid by the tail. It was a job I quite fancied, I was reading a lot of Barry Crump books at the time and had been invited to meet him, it sounded somehow romantic, harking back to a more simple way of life....... I bet in reality it would be a lot harsher ! LOL ! Cheers.

I remember all the whippet racing tracks up around here. Ashington, North Seaton, Bedlington, Cramlington, Seaton Burn, Killingworth, Coxlodge, Wallsend Rising Sun, Bigges Main, Westerhope. Sadly only Rising Sun and Westerhope only still going, just. Whippet racing is on the decline, but i'm seeing quite a few Bedlington terriers about. Cheers.

Something as simple as that was one of the causes of the Indian Mutiny. Rifle cartridges were wrapped in greased paper, and the end had to be bitten off before loading. Some bright spark started the rumour that the grease was made from beef tallow and pork lard; Thus pissing off both the Hindu's AND the Muslims........ingenious ! Cheers.

My last two were brindle; Cheers.

Yeah, born, it was the free to use cabins I meant. It would be disappointing if they are no longer maintained. I noticed one or two were being turned into sort of small museums for the hikers to see, but not to stay in, even back then. Cheers.

Yeah, I saw the 1080 stations in the trees and was warned about it. My niece is a marine biologist in N Z and has campaigned against its use.. I thought it would be banned by such an eco friendly country. Cheers.

Do the government still have those hunters huts out in the bush ? I stayed in them around 30 years ago, thought they were a great idea; Cheers.

I consider this opening chapter by Dickens as most apt for today; Almost Nostradamus like....... Cheers.

Ferrets were imported into NZ in their thousands and released into the wild to deal with the rabbit population explosion. Like the introduction of non native species everywhere, not enough thought went into it. The ferrets found that native species like the kiwi were easier to catch than a rabbit, and were just as tasty ! Cheers.

I remember walking into Toke about 7:30 one morning to buy a pint of milk, and there was a pub, the Blue Lagoon I think it was, long gone now, and it was full of bushmen, farmers, Maoris, etc, all drinking. I went in and it all went quiet. The barman was a Maori , that big he made Jonah Lomu look anorexic ! He asked me where I was from, I told him I'd just come from Saudi Arabia and was visiting family. That broke the ice, I had a couple of Lion Reds and a bacon sandwich for breakfast then bid them fairwell and walked home. My sister in law is a bit prim and proper, and when I

First time I was down there, I was walking the mile or so from Tokaroa to my family's house around dusk and the fields were crawling with rabbits. I said I'd be sneaking over the fence that night if I had a dog and a lamp with me, my niece said no need to be sneaking about, just ask the farmer, he'd be glad for you to kill all the rabbits you wanted ! Bit different to here ! Cheers.

Mental , cultist fools who would let their children die by denying them blood transfusions. Cheers.

You hadn't been watching "Watership Down" or " Bambi" then had a couple of malts and went to bed, Gnash ? This lockdown is playing havoc with old farts like me, there's a thin line between fantasy and reality ! ??! Cheers.

The Chinese are colonising Africa by stealth. Nothing the Chinese do is altruistic or charitable, they are building the infrastructure in exchange for the mining and mineral rights. The Africans have truly "sold their birthright for a mess of pottage" (Genesis 25). Cheers.

My wife's brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, in NZ, at the age of 25. He finally succumbed to the disease last year at the age of 72 ! His longevity with this awful disease is a testament to the New Zealand health care system. Best wishes to your pal. Cheers.

He wasn't honest when he denied laying a wreath at a terrorists grave. He even kept denying it when photos emerged of him doing it ! He wasn't honest when he voted against the EU on every vote in over 30 years, but tried to force a second referendum simply because he hates the Torys, never mind that the people had won a democratic vote. He wasn't honest when he defended the Russians when they poisoned that father and daughter. He is a traitor who supports the IRA, Hamas, Hezbullah and anyone who has, or would do us harm. Yes, he's an idiot, but a very dangerous, traitorous

Yeah, I guess that could be described as a "busmans holiday " ! Cheers.

Not indoors, and not sure if it's even open, but Diggerland is great for kids, (and adults). Decent cafe, gift shop, etc. Near Chester-le-Street, Durham, just off the A1. Cheers.

When I read the headline, I had the forlorn hope that he had been found guilty of treason and suspended by his scrawny neck ! But no, he's only been suspended from the Labour Party ! At least we'll have the fun of seeing his acolytes gnashing their teeth, wailing and renting their garments, in righteous indignation at finding out their Messiah is nothing more than an anti Semitic little shit weasel ! Cheers.

It belongs to a pal of mine, he kindly offered to lend her to me when my deer/grey bitch was injured. But the trip never materialised. Cheers.

No mate. Newcastle area. Cheers.

It's a play on the name of a well known, now retired, collie greyhound breeder, utilising the first name of the stud dog owner, and the second part of the aforementioned breeders name. Thats my version, anyway. Others may disagree. Cheers.

Them that knows........knows ??? Cheers.
