    To paraphrase Metternich; "when America sneezes, the world catches a cold" ! Within minutes of the news release that Trump had Covid, stock markets started moving, currencies rose and fell, gold and oil went higher. America is the worlds biggest economy and the only real "super power", so anything that affects America has a knock-on effect for the rest of the world. Cheers.

    My mother is 90; she's just had two weeks in hospital and I wasn't allowed to visit her. She lives alone, and again, I'm not allowed to visit her. Yesterday I said "f**k it" and went and visited her. I would refuse to pay any fine, let's see how it would play out on the news and in the media if a 68 year old man was being jailed for visiting his sick, 90 year old mother ! The government wouldn't come out of it looking to good, I think. Cheers.

All joking aside, it's getting ridiculous now, I've just found out we can only use the bus in an emergency ! But they don't say what constitutes an "emergency" !     I think the bloke Greyman was talking to may have exaggerated a bit ! I spent 26 years in the aircraft/airline industry as an engineer and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor of one of the biggest airlines in the world. There are VERY stringent rules and regulations , overseen and monitored by bodies such as the CAA and the FAA. Everything is governed by ISO rules. Everyone from Pilots to mechanics are well qualified and undergo recurrent training to keep up their licenses.     Theres up to eighty tories threatening to vote against the government unless parliament is given a say in any new Covid laws. Most of them are real right wingers like the ERG and the 1922 committee. Boris can't piss them off, so there'll be a climb down tomorrow and Boris will either accept the Brady amendment or the government will propose their own amendment allowing a vote on any new laws. I like a government to govern, but I can't accept Cummings unilaterally curtailing our freedoms. Cheers.

    I don't like what I've just read that "certain officials, including police, COVID WARDENS AND COUNCIL WORKERS will be able to use limited force to apply the new rules" ! No wonder right wingers like Baker and Brady are resisting !     I live in the Newcastle area, and although Covid has hardly impacted on my day to day life, it would be good if someone could clarify the new lockdown measures for the north east, that were announced last night !     My late son was part of a shark survey in the Red Sea some years ago. The purpose was to see the effect on the shark population following the granting of a lisence to the Chinese to harvest shark fin. The findings were devastating; hundreds of thousands of sharks, irrespective of species, being caught, their fins sliced off and thrown back into the sea alive ! Id rather the sharks weren't killed at all, but if they must be, I'd rather it was to find a Covid cure than for a rich chink to enjoy shark fin soup ! Cheers.
