I respect other people's beliefs and religions as long as they don't hurt anyone but the bible is in reality just an outdated book, written by who? Not a god, just people. If there is a god and he dropped a book into my hands from the heavens I'd read it until the pages wore out. Until then, I walk my own path.

As said, mainly bolting to staghounds and or guns but a small number dig. Southern NSW around the Riverina and Victoria are the main fox hunting areas using dogs but I had some good Russells from Central Tablelands NSW.

Yeah, lost a couple of terriers to them. Snake killers don't live long.
-
I don't think they should be classed as jackers because they are doing the job they were mostly bred for and over here they are the terrier most hunters like.
-
I used to live near a railway track in remote bush over here and the terriers bolted quite a few from the drains under the built up rail track. Only did this in Winter because the place was infested with Eastern Brown snakes.

I was watching a hunting show on TV a few months ago and they had pro guides helping a guy bow shoot a Sambar. The animal had gone down not far but they couldn't find it until going back a week or two later. I was thinking they should have had even a russell with them to be more humane and not waste the meat so I can see the need for a tracking dog for the mountains over your way.

Just that song was enough but apart from that, I like killing myself.
-
It's good if they're a good type and healthy but they sound like a puppy miller's dream.
-
Now I can kill myself.
-
Fck I hate that movie.

There are a few of them over here they use on pigs but I've never seen one work. I'd imagine they'd trail bark? which wouldn't suit most pig hunters over here but probably good for the blood tracking for you.

I think a half cross German pointer would hunt out too much for ferreting. I had a male whippet cross grey/pointer and he could catch well and retrieve to hand, even from water but he lacked patience around a warren and would start hunting off after a few minutes. He was raised ferreting like the other dogs but it didn't suit him so I gave him to a farmer for general pest control and he was wrapped with him.

Lets See Them Whippets, Coarsing, Racing, Working

I'd stick with the original and of course the best. You don't want to be seen with unreturnable, feathery mudskippers, or mC, lol. -
I had a big staghound from just roo dogs and he didn't start chasing until 18 months, even though having him out daily in the bush sighting game. He ended up a good dog but be patient with these types, they take ages sometimes to start but the wait is worth it.

The first dog I went ferreting with as a kid was an old bloke's ACD cross grey. She was almost indestructible and loyal but I thought she lacked a bit in speed so I went to the whippet type lurchers. She was good ferreting though and a good looking dog with drop ears and a white coat flecked with red spots.

There are whiskery cattle dogs here that look like ACDs, some with fairly long wirey hair that some people call Smithfields, I'm not sure where the coat came from.
-
I wouldn't say good going, the scrub over here, the saluki's feathers would get caught up, lol. We do have good beaches for chasing soldier crabs, which would suit them.

There was a farmer near Dubbo that had Smithfield pups for sale a few years ago when I lived out near there. I don't know what the real ones are but these were wooly and looked between a cattle dog and collie and they supposedly worked stock well. He got the dogs from Tasmania. They were nowhere near as hard as working ACD's. Not many over here and are they the real deal, I don't know. A lot of people refer to strains of ACD's as Smithfield cattle dogs but these wooly ones were a lot different.
-
Not knocking them but why use a collie? You rarely see or hear about collie type lurchers in Oz, a fair few whippet/kelpies and some cattle/greys. For fast game it's whippets, stags and greys or a combination of these, rarely salukis or deerhounds.

I think I was expecting something great after the original, I don't know why because most movies aren't as good as the first one.

I went to the movies to see the new Gladiator, it was up to shit. The filming was too dark and there was no story line. Sharks and people riding Rhinos, wtf, lol.

A mate had one for years, he used him for all kinds of hunting and even retrieving shot ducks. He was a good dog and would sit outside the mate's shop during the week, never wandering off. He was just off show stuff, all there is over here as far as I know.

Same as over here with the roos, you often see a sickly animal suffering. I think because they have largely removed the dingo. Once the roo is down though, the foxes come around.

That deer didn't look in good form so needed culling. They have to have predators.
