  1. I've never liked them. We had one near my place who would constantly come into the yard to try and kill my chickens until one day when I was out my pit cross staff got off her chain in the yard when the lab jumped in. When I got home it looked like the now dead lab had been machine gunned there were that many puncture wounds in it.
  2. Mine didn't like mouthing myxi rabbits, they'd still catch them but you could see the horror on their face, lol.
  3. Yep, same with any hunting dog, let them do their thing, they instinctively know more than we could ever learn.
  4. I do believe weed does relieve stress which is the cause of many health issues. Also the pure indicas don't make you paranoid and treat anxiety.
  5. No, cool and as you say each to their own, weed isn't for everybody.
  6. If you use edibles you cut out the potential lung damage. Not making excuses for weed, it's been great for me and it's the mildest poison compared to everything else.
  7. Every time they talk about legalizing weed they throw this stuff up to influence the masses. Who does? the drug companies that are going to lose billions because people can grow an almost harmless medicine for next to nothing.
  8. Abuse of weed, getting up in the morning, sucking down cones all day, it's bad but I've been smoking and ingesting it for 45 years, at night only and it's kept me level headed in this mad world. Is it the over use or use by young people that makes you feel it's harmful?
  9. Drugs are a godsend if you're sick and harmless in moderation, it's just that people overindulge and it destroys them and everyone around them. Weed not included as it's just a harmless herb, not a drug imo.
  10. Can't drink beer these days it just bloats me and makes me miserable so the last 20 years it's been Cougar Bourbon. It used to be a budget bottle until people found out how good it is, perfect bourbon.
  11. Lol, but here no cash. Well there is but don't know how long it will take to thaw out.
  12. I think the pure whippets are a bit fragile for most hunting over here that's why I used 3/4 whippets 1/4 stag. The 1/4 staghound made a big difference in their skin/coat but mostly bush sense and for my hunting areas were the ultimate rabbit dogs.
  13. Almost identical to our stags here Ray but ours would be more likely to have English bull blood if any bull blood at all. The original deer/grey stags are getting rarer because of pig hunters adding other breeds and with their original job as roo and dingo hunters being illegal these days.
  14. There are a few crosses of them in the wheat belt of South oz where it's flat, big land but where I hunted in the hills of NSW they are useless compared to the lighter whippet types on rabbits and the heavier stags on bigger game. I only hunted with dogs for around 45 years so I wouldn't know much.
  15. Ever been hunting in Oz mC, yeah obviously not, lol. Salukis are practically non existent here, I wonder why, lol. I agree the UK has the best running dogs and terriers and our dogs here come from them mostly, it's just we have developed our own breed in the Oz stag to suit the game and very hard terrain. Get an education on hunting dogs before you make stupid comments next time, you look like a dickhead.
  16. The staghounds over here have good, tough feet, I always thought they got that off the deerhound but I don't know anyone that works deerhounds apart from the fox hunters I got my russells off. They did try a deerhound but it was too soft for the work and went back to staghounds. I'd imagine it was off show stuff.
  17. For sure but as much as I like greyhounds they have probably the shittest feet in dogdom.
  18. I don't know why some people say whippets have bad feet, I've never had a problem with that apart from the odd cut pad or ripped dew claw, as you say different to greyhounds.
  19. Mine would usually get the bad knocks and rips when young but most would lose a bit of blood every time out. They weren't pure whippets either. I really think the small, fine skinned pure whippets are a bit fragile for work in scrubby country unless you like stitching or stapling. An unmarked whippet doesn't work.
  20. My mate had two Airedale/English bulls that looked similar. They caught heaps of pigs over here in Oz, I'd say yours would be a step up from them.
  21. My best rabbit dog ever was the same. She got ripped on barbed and knocked around in thick scrub as a pup but learnt. She never was injured when older but stayed on over drive and was an awesome hunter. She wasn't an overly intelligent dog but she gave every catchable rabbit her all.
  22. If it was a family member I'd get them counseling, I'd never shun them but I wouldn't embrace their crazy ideas.
  23. I've had dogs with insane drive but they did learn through their injuries, others with that drive never got the chance.
  24. Different thing but I agree they do need the drive. You can get some dumb humans that excel at their jobs because of experience but are halfwits in normal life.
