  1. The dog in the pictures is Patterdale (type) x working Springer. Not mine, result of an accidental mating between a friends terrier and one of his gun dog bitches. The bitch was taken to vets for injection but it didn't work and she had pups. Pet homes were found but he decided to keep one, I think more for sentimental reasons as the sire was meant to be the last of home bred stuff going back over 30 years. He just keeps gun dogs now. Not really worked as my friend is only into the spaniels and that takes a lot of time and commitment to get them right but I have seen it out on "exercise"
  2. Did I tempt fate or anger the Gods by posting this? Ah well, back to life, back to reality.
  3. Watch Man C v Newcastle 20:00 tomorrow night.
  4. 1 of the last proper chat show hosts on British TV. Respectful of the person that he was interviewing but not sycophantic. But he did become sycophantic at the end, probably had no choice if he wanted to stay employed.
  5. I have tried to watch women's football, particularly England matches, but find it difficult to retain interest for a full 90 minutes. But I am a strong believer in people being allowed to live their lives and do what they want free from prejudice and discrimination as long they aren't hurting anyone. My only concern is the kick off time for women's football matches. Evening games are fine but 3 or 4 pm matches gets me wondering if there is a man somewhere, all alone, getting hungrier and hungrier because there is no one at home to make his tea.
  6. Garlic bread, it's the future. I've tasted it!
  7. Smart money was on Aston Villa today.
  8. I asked this fella his thoughts on Harry Kane making the switch to Germany. Apparently he knows him and has been telling him for years that he should move overseas and prove to the world that he can score goals outside of the Premier League.
  9. I read something awhile ago, cannot remember where, that in Australia their fire brigade are studying how the aboriginies used to manage the land using fire and that some UK fire brigades where taking instruction from those who used to be able to manage our upland areas effectively but are now no longer allowed. To prevent or better manage these "wild fires".
  10. One of those artists who if I were to overthink it would probably not be a fan of but without thinking I always liked her. A beautiful voice and a beautiful looking girl in the younger days. Possibly more sinned against than a sinner? I don't know. And to lose a child, tragic. God bless her, rest in peace.
  11. I also see that that the LGBTQ community are deeply upset that staunch LGBTQ supporter Jordan Henderson is off to play in Saudi Arabia... what a c##t! ? ? ?
  12. This may sound daft but as there are varying degrees of deafness in people and dogs can hear frequencies not audible to people is it totally deaf? I'm thinking a "silent" dog whistle. Only had personal experience of 1 deaf dog and that was a white Lakeland terrier bitch belonging to someone that I used to know when they were the were all the rage that did a bit off work on foxes underground. I fell out with him when he bred a litter of pups from her. Below ground terrier work is different to lurcher work of course but I have had 2 terriers that were more than competent rat and rabbit ferr
  13. I'm amazed that anyone believed his story, if he had binoculars then surely he would have seen them coming?
  14. I used to work in a fireplace surround manufacturing factory, the worst 2 years of my life. Met some great lads but soul destroying work. The walnut veneers where made in house from timber slabs. Was not unusual for the blade to hit a musket ball in the slab. Wreck the blade and slow production that did not please the factory owner. I was told the timber was imported from North America and the musket balls from colonial days.
  15. The Boers where not using muskets, accurate rifles them lads had. I know you know but just had to say.
  16. The war(s) when the British army started to question the reasoning of lining infantry up in nice neat lines firing volley wearing red tunics with white webbing creating a helpful aiming point ?
  17. Should have done a COSHH Assessment based on the product data sheet followed by a Risk Assessment. Only yourself to blame really.
  18. I see that Lynsey Hipgrave is the person fronting TNT Sports. Sick and tired of women's voices and opinions being given every time I put the tele on (Alex Scott being a prime example, such a breath of fresh air at 1st but now a self opinionated untouchable voice of the BBC, and her voice becomes increasingly irritating unless you happened to grow up on the street, sorry shtreet, that she grew up on). But I welcome Lynsey. Served her time. Learned her trade. Knows when to talk and when to listen. Like TV presenters used to do. Still speaks with her local accent but toned down slightly, as
  19. Looks like ASM is on his way. The type of player that German born Peter Lovenkrands delightfully referred to as a cowboy before being corrected by his co-commentator as a maverick during last nights friendly with Rangers. He wasn't talking about Maxi but all the same. Not the type that fits into the professional set up that is being created at Newcastle. Hey ho. A player that lit up the dark many times for us. A shame but life goes on. for the good times
  20. The older that I get the more irreverent that I seem to become and find the trivia that people find important such an irrelevance in the grand scheme of things. Most particularly the modern world's addiction and obsession with having meetings. More and more I find myself quoting films that I have enjoyed watching. Some get it, some don't. Scent of a Woman being a favourite at the moment, probably not exact lines but: I have come to the crossroads of my life I would take a flame thrower to this place! His soul is intact I'm too old, too tired, and too f##king blind! I'
  21. £110M being reported as price for Rice, over 24 month instalments. Always depressing when your best players are sold but money in the bank for reinvestment on the new, you would like to think? Maybe not the manager WHU fans would like to see spending the money though. Such is football.
  22. I worked on the East stand when they put the canvas roof on, did electrical installation. The company doing the roof were a right bunch of pricks. I was over the moon when it blew off ?
  23. To any Gateshead/Newcastle fans who may not be aware match live on National League no.1. Toon getting arse kicked ?
