  1. This is a double pet hate. Bad drivers and apprentices. Phone call 5 minutes after being dropped off at home I think you need to come and look at the bus... no I do not want to look at the bus, see you tomorrow... no, I think you really need to come and look at the bus! The little prick had somehow managed to create this by attempting a 3 point turn. He's a project manager now, God help us all.
  2. I also spotted these in the same place and felt sorry for them and so gave them some bananas. Big mistake, they followed me home.
  3. I was looking through an old project folder today and came across these pictures that I had forgotten about. Difficult to tell what type of animal it was from the photographs but the silhouette definitely suggests some kind of big cat.
  4. Whatever makes people happy. Bah humbug!
  5. I was in Stevenage 3 weeks ago for a family funeral and stayed in a pub, the Green Man, and they had a Christmas tree. Fully decorated. I did ask why, thinking it may be a quirky thing that they do all year round, but no, it was the 2023 Christmas tree. And it had a very strong smell of onions. Discovered the next morning that it was surrounded by fields of onions.
  6. WHU v NUFC, just in case anyone still waits to watch on MOTD, without giving the result, due to poor refereeing Karma saved it.
  7. Was this the thread asking for pictures of past Patterdales? I have no original photographs but had intended to scour through old EDRD's and books. These are a few from on the top of the pile of hundreds. Can only upload to 14.65 MB though.
  8. That type of personal opinion people are simply not allowed to have. Not in 1984, sorry 2023.
  9. I see Kevin Keegan has commented that he does think that women footballers are qualified to make analysis on the men's high level professional game. Joey Barton has agreed. Oh dear, that's them sentenced to the UK media equivalent of a Soviet gulag. I almost tuned into Loose Women, sorry Football Focus, to see it start but doubt is was mentioned. Real life has no relevance on the BBC's Loose Focus/Football Women programme.
  10. Certainly a thought provoking thread. I love listening to and watching Nina Simone. An enigma, an original but not a diva? Lady Gaga (LG) has been mentioned. At the risk of sounding pretentious (pretentious, moi?) I am not a fan of LG but love listening to Stefani Germanotta ever since listening her duets with Tony Bennett. some of the songs (caps have gone again) 2018 a star is born are superb but la vie en rose is up there with edith paif or liza minnelli. dolores o'riordan, amy winehouse, sinead o'conner, all singers who could sing a song and touch a nerve. more poignant now that they
  11. Lacking in body somewhat but a palatable little red nonetheless.
  12. Who's land is it on? Simple question but I found out years ago that every square inch of England above the high tide mark is owned by someone and you cannot do anything anywhere in England without the permission of the person or persons who own that land. Who owns the land and did they give their permission to fell the tree? If there was a badger sett below the tree and someone's terrier had got to ground... the executioner would already be sharpening his (or her) axe.
  13. I haven't used this for years but always used Wasps, simply because that was what I used in my Airsporter S and later Webley Omega at the time. Capable of clean kills on rats anywhere upper body (but always had a terrier in attendance) and clean kills on close range rabbit with a head shot (but always had a terrier close by). I would not use it on live quarry these days, no longer have the required skills.
  14. An extreme metaphorical political statement? Another bit of old England that took hundreds of years to grow destroyed in the blink of an eye. Or pure vandalism by people who have no love for this land? Probably just an apprentice who was on his phone during the pre-start meeting that day and HR will blame his supervisor if you try and sack him.
  15. Not many coal sheds left unfortunately. That could be the answer though, open the pits back up, solving the energy crisis, and send the fat lasses down to work them. Never used to see a fat pitman
  16. The "positive female image" that is being portrayed in advertising is doing women no favours. Fat lasses jumping about and exercising having a great time on an edited bit of film as though it is a normal and healthy thing to be grossly overweight. No it is not. We just do not seem to be capable of honesty anymore. Telling young women that being fat is OK is just as damaging as the old "size 0" model thing. Applicable to men of course, but I don't see many fat blokes in adverts. That's sexist that is, on several different levels.
  17. I always thought (read, never seen it) that a dog and fox can perform the mating act (have sex) but cannot procteate due to (as mentioned by others), being completely different genetically. No more chance of success than that depraved sub-human freak on an another current thread.
  18. Hunt & Working Terriers, Sir Jocelyn Lucas MC.
  19. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning that sort of behaviour. A 35+ maiden in the back of the Land Rover would be nice though. I can dream.
  20. Babylon last night. I struggle to stay with new films these days as there are only so many stories that are constantly being re-told/re-made. Enjoyed this though. A drug and Jazz fuelled retelling of Singing in the Rain. Helped by the presence and beauty of Margot Robbie.
  21. Certainly a type that we now class as Basset hounds. Probably fair to say that on the continent the need for an earth dog proper was never seen to be needed and small hound types carried out the role and it was those that gave us the dachshund/teckle types. The working terrier being developed in isolation within the British Isles. The Czech and jagd terrier a 20th century development of already existing British breeds. The jagd being the product of crazies who considered only something of pure germanic origin being worthy of existence. They rated the Fox Terrier as they considered the English
  22. Fair comment. Some people these days are incompetent at everything they do, whether peddling a bicycle or walking along a track. I always say a "thank you" when cyclists have given me a warning before they pass from behind. Some stop as they think I am being sarcastic or "trying to be funny mate?". I explain that it is genuine appreciation and gratitude. Have had a few chats when the cyclist does not know whether to ring the bell or give verbal warning or not as it can provoke a negative reaction from the non-cyclist. Can't do right for fear of doing wrong kind of thing. My advice to them is f
  23. Do you have a bell on your bicycle? Handy things to have when approaching from behind. Dogs could be old and deaf, people could old and deaf and blind and f****d. Warning from dicks on bicycles before passing very close is welcomed and recommended.
  24. Lovely looking whippets there. KC or not KC, they are one of the few breeds that are relatively still fit and healthy and free from faults due to badly written or mis-understood KC breed standards .
