what is a whippet? is it a dog that needs to run faster than any other dog in the race that it is entered in? what is a 'pedigree' whippet? kc registered? what is non - pedigree whippet? a slow mongrel? do non-pedigree whippets have written family history, a pedigree? if a kc line of whippets can be made to run around a track faster than non-kc whippets by introducing non-pedigree (kc), and you do not do that? what is the point of closed gene pool kc registration of any type of dog? how many kc registered kc whippets have non-ped blood in them? well. all of them before the kc existed. n

There was another thread on this chap and made the same post but it still makes me smile. He was the main speaker at a sportsman's dinner about 12 year ago at the Hilton hotel in Gateshead, tyne and wear (bloody chromebook, caps stopped working again). about 45 minutes in there was an announcement to say the sir ranulph will be speaking later than planned as he got lost. i forget where he had travelled from, somewhere down south, but had missed the turn off on a1 and was in scotland. i can just about understand someone missing the 1st exit but to carry on all the way up to over the

A magnificent performance and result from Newcastle United in Milan tonight. Did I watch a different game in an alternate universe to the energy vampires commentating on it? Dan Burn, 31 year old released by NUFC at 16. Jacob Murphy, Championship quality player at best until Eddie Howe managed him, Fabian Schar, signed for £3.5m, Sean Longstaff, home grown, Elliot Anderson home grown, Miggy, club record signing at the time at £21m, Callum Wilson £20m. All pre takeover, all staring down the barrel of relegation before Eddie Howe came in. All played tonight and got a draw at AC Mlilan in the Cha

The spit of one of my ex's.

It used to be relatively easy to get surplus to requirements, for whatever reason, from the non-ped racing lads and lasses. The only whippet that I actually owned myself was sourced this way as a young adult dog. £10. As rabbiter that would also take the occasional day time hare, and have a damned good try at everything else ,he was the bargain of a lifetime.

A positive not a negative. Looked for the correct place to post on THL but could not find. Anyway, women wearing dresses. This unseasonably warm weather seems to have inspired a change in women's attire. Gone are the leggings and sports tops or baggy T shirts to be replaced by lovely Summer dresses. Even the fat and ugly ones look stylish and feminine.

Oh, when will you ever learn?

Big cats in the UK. Don't know what it's like in other areas but around here they're becoming something of a pest. And the council are doing bugger all about it.

Are they making Muslim themed blow up dolls now? In the interests of inclusivity I think they should. Wouldn't want anyone to feel excluded. Hold on though... I think I've spotted a problem.

And there was also that tragic industrial injury case at the Nestle factory when a load toppled over and trapped a warehouse worker. His shouts of "the milky bars are on me" ... I'll get me coat.

Steady dominos away though

Some other things found. My records. Some really self indulgent naval gazing going on here but I make no apologies, it's only the internet. Bought the Stranglers album when at art college, people at home thought going to art college was an odd thing to do. People at art college found me odd but loved the Stranglers and thought the album cover was macarbre or at best an ironic statement with the stuffed animals. I loved the Stranglers music but never understood why anyone would have a a mounted animal in their house unless it was something that you had dug yourself.

Doing the final clearance of my parent's house and came across this. I do remember it from years ago and always assumed it had been thrown out or given away but has been in loft all these years. Came from grandparent's house originally but I did have a great uncle who owned or managed a pub in Carlisle and it may have been his. Looks like the kind of thing that you would see in pub.

Question for Mackem, just going off your username, did you used to jump off the bridge over Wear at Chester - le - Street? Used to be a favourite past time of ours in summer holidays. Usually wasn't much water and you would go almost knee deep in the mud. Police eventually but a block on it.

Going off topic there was a time I would have loved to put that terrierxspringer over a grew. He has most of the qualities of a working terrier with the added bonus of a little extra height from the spaniel. A viable alternative to a Bedlington I think, even though the terrier sire does have a very diluted % of Beddy in him and they have always been a little rangy, but not too big.

What madness is this??? Just put sky sports transfer show on and reading J Bellingham has signed for Sunderland!!!

The last time I jumped off a cliff was outside Bodrum in Turkey. I had intended to dive, but after swimming ashore, climbing to the point, looking down, seeing the people on the boat that I had came off in the distance hoping for a "caught on camera" moment I bottled it. Jumped, no idea how high it was but had time to shout " fu###c####k###ing####hell####!!!###" before hitting the water.

My last speed awareness course to avoid 3 points was after being clocked doing eighty mph on A1M at 04:40 after leaving home early and wanting to be on site 1st thing down the country. OK, I was exceeding the speed limit even though the traffic was very light. The accepted way of driving on motorways now during the day seems to be everyone driving bumper to bumper. Should they not be penalising that?

I do enjoy watching Combat Dealers. I get distracted sometimes though when Bruce can be showing a Russian "oligarch" or Hollywood "property master" a bit of iconic and mega costly bit of WWII kit and 1 of his Parson Russells gets in shot. Start thinking, does he graft them?
