  1. I have noticed a marked rise in suspected cases this year, particularly in our apprentices. Seemed to coincide with Newcastle playing mid-week matches in Champion's League. Absences are recorded via an App these days (!?!) and one kid had booked holidays for a Monday and a Wednesday, he attends college on a Tuesday and must plan his holidays around the college timetable. Recorded an absence with diarrhea and sickness for the Tuesday. Seen him on the tele at Dortmund game. Doh! I let it go. Come the onset of this winter it seems that the last of the lock down dog owners have finally gone.

    Slappers

Every time I see this thread title for a split second I think that it is about the Big Market in Newcastle (upon Tyne). Happy days!
  3. The biggest rats I've caught have tended to be in lone hole situations away from a colony. Old bucks or does living in quiet retirement and then a terrier with a good nose messes up their pension plan.
  4. I watched Grealish's development, partly because a good friend is a Villa fan. When he made the big move to Man City feared that he would follow the Gazza route and end up eaten up by the superstar status and that England would once again lose a genuine world class player, they do not come along that often. He seems to have survived, but plays like a pussy scared to move from his position and just tries to draw a foul in every game he plays. For England and Man City.
  5. The England game tonight? We are playing as though it is a game of chess, football is draughts not chess. So much talent being wasted. Could have beat them 6 - 1 . 6 - 0
  6. Or allowing a rabbit to bend it all over a small field before eventually deciding to strike
  7. About 13 month in 1 pic and just over 13 year in the other. Time passes so quickly, not done much, the best laid plans and all that, but has been a good pal. Kept me sane at times and is still doing that job.
  8. Great thread, non - KC whippets (sorry but I cannot refer to selectively bred dogs with long and illustrious recorded pedigrees as non-ped but I am an outsider looking in and understand the term) must be one of the last of the great British working dogs that can still be properly tested doing the job that they were created for in regard to continual improvement. Love them, always have, always will.
  9. Everywhere you f***ing go! Councils are wasting so much of our money trying to reduce C02 emissions but nobody seems to be tasked with coordinating and programming road/services repair works to prevent 20 minute journeys taking 1 hour+ for weeks on end all across the country. Or is that the plan? Sicken us all so much we start to take the bus or piss about on a peddle bike. Not possible for those of us who still have to work and exist in the real world.
  10. I suppose "nice find" is objective. I like it so was a nice find to me, but it is the one in the link that you shared. Probably overpriced, I ain't no Drew Pritchard. Does seem like a genuine 70's not a modern reproduction though. The seller had a sale on last week.

    Israel

I can see him now, turning up in full Lawrence of Arabia regalia with his plans of introducing new laws to be enforced by NATO or the British armed forces where all factions are to be restricted to using not more than 2 combatants at a time and can only flush the intended target out to be shot or killed using an European Eagle Owl.
  12. I'd been looking for a mirror for ages just to put on the wall. Seen this for sale and it looked familiar but couldn't mind the artist. Did a little search and turned out he designed some of Thin Lizzy's album covers, that's why it seemed familiar. He also did the iconic Che Guevara poster after meeting the bloke when he was in Ireland researching family history.
  13. A friend of mine talked me into becoming a volunteer with the premise that we could get permission to catch the rats. He already worked there and was stealing eggs. The daft thing is he genuinely loved all the bird stuff. With better upbringing and education he could have become a proper naturalist.
  14. Possible escape's from Washington Wildfowl? All sorts of exotics used to escape but not get established in the wild. Worked there for a short time one school holiday. Got sacked. It was an unpaid job. They had some cool stuff though.
  15. Shearer won nothing at Newcastle. He could have won it all elsewhere, but chose to play for us. I love Shearer.
  16. The current situation that Newcastle find themselves in is interesting. I think that Howe is in a unique situation. He was always on a probational contract, but he is more than proving his worth. Has made the new signings work and made silk purses out of existing sow's ears. Now, with everyone being sympathetic, he is blooding young academy products, a luxury that no other top flight manager would be allowed to do. Interesting to see how it will pan out and if even moderately successful could make owners of other clubs look within rather than open the cheque book.
  17. chartpolski, calling Wilson a liability is bit disrespectful. If he did not have injury problems Newcastle could never have bought him for £20M. If he had not came to Newcastle I doubt that the club would have hung on in the EPL and possibly would not have been bought by the new owners. I understand what your saying but, when it comes to actually winning something in my life, Wilson could prove to have been a more important number 9 than Shearer. And he will continue to contribute, I would not swap him for anyone, injury prone or not.
  18. I think Joeliton has played out of his skin for 2 seasons and is just simply tired. It is catching up with a few of them. But again, no complaints, only to be expected.
  19. Bournemouth seen the opportunity to get some points and grasped it. Very well played all over the pitch. No complaints from a Newcastle fan with the result or our lads who played or the ref.
  20. Commissioned by the LACS or not I would think an accurate reflection on the general public's opinion of any kind of shooting or hunting activity in the UK. I believe the "anti" view is far higher if anything. An example of how easily the feeble minded are taught what to think. Feeble minded is probably a bit harsh, totally disinterested would be a better description. I would love to carry out such a poll in the dead animal isles of a typical supermarket in the UK. Shelves stacked with body parts of dead pigs, chicken and cattle, next to the fresh eggs. I would then like to film all these anima
  21. I never got the MK1 but bought the MK2. Ending up having to sell it but have the MK3, AKA Air Arms Pro Sport with walnut stock. Lovely air rifle.
  22. If he was a snob would have aspired to an Airsporter S not a Mercury. I had the Airsporter
