  1. Thanks Phil , great to hear your busy too , I must admit I've made a decent living from set pricing for my jobs . Perhaps it may be prudent to carry on regardless.
  2. Many thanks , look forward to having one to use daily.
  3. Love the look of your Knives , looks real quality , I would be interested to know if I've enough pennies to be the proud !! owner of one , please PM me . thanks.
  4. Hi , i'm after a taxidermist in Norfolk , I have only a couple of moles for someone to work their art on for me. They are in the deep freeze at the moment , one is a silver colour the other is apricot/ ginger I would say . Thanks in advance if you can undertake this for me.
  5. Both very capable tools , and both have there places .
  6. Bore snake , after most outings , all depends if I've just fired a couple of rounds or had a decent night.
  7. Now that's decent money , not the shilling , although the sandwich sounds tasty. . All my work at the moment is per visits , with domestic gardens priced at a maximum of setting plus 3 visits , if i'm still catching after the 3rd its then per visit until finished. Saying that there is the rare occasion , that after the 3rd I've still caught nothing,, , yes it does happen, but thankfully very rarely indeed....When this may happen because I've priced the job I give them a maximum of 3 more visits if needed , you win most , but loose rarely.... I may just be getting greedy after all the
  8. Many moons ago I charged for each mole caught , but changed to pricing per visit , no arguments then over the amount of moles caught . Some people believe you always have one in your pocket or just don't believe you when you phone them up with a caught total . The only reason i'm thinking of changing is there are a couple of companies ! around here charging £40 every mole and one well known Lady charging £60 a mole , WOW... If I could charge any where near these prices I could make more for the same work , time for an Awld dog to learn some new pricing strategies.
  9. Welcome mate , you may as well apply , I've a friend in Colchester who waited nearly 12 months , but it was for his FAC,
  10. Put some Mk4 fenns down inside a cubby of some sort , I've used both wire ones and homemade ply boxes , both work . if you don't fancy fenns , Knes break back traps do the job nicely as well .
  11. Oh why's that , been with them over 2 years now !
  12. Welcome mate , glad to see someone going about things in a sensible way , All the best.
  13. Why live catch traps mate ? plus what are you trying to bait them with ? if it's early days it could just be Neophobia , but that often gets blamed for a multitude of other reasons . A job to try and help you without seeing what your upto , good luck. The initial success was maybe young rats , they tend to be easier to catch , especially in cages.
  14. Nice one , that's rats at their best....
  15. Saw it up at Solihull last week , can't really see the advantage for what I do , i'd rather check the traps , this looked like you set it and let it get on with it .
  16. yep it never gets boring , happy days.
  17. Right , that's that job done , happy customer , moles caught and no foul catches or nicked traps .
  18. I did have to re-zero for the 42grns after using 40 grn, but no great hardship , the do the job , but not quit as tight a pattern as eley I must admit . I think the fieldsports channel did a youtube video comparing 6 of the most popular .22 lr rounds.
  19. Only had to put 8 in on Thursday , checked this morning , one very dead mole caught cleanly around the head . Also the play area they are in had the grass cut on Friday , no-one realised the traps where in and none where damaged. so far so good , I must be one of the ones they work for . As above if anyone has any they don't get on with , pm me and i'll take em off your hands..
  20. By the time Essex police have issued a grant or variation, the fox will have died of old age. I have a mate in Colchester has just waited over 12 months for his first FAC.
  21. Still very interesting to watch , made a nice change from the usual drudgery.
  22. That's it my Fac was due for renewal , and my shotgun nearly a year later , made sense to do them both together .
  23. Welcome mate , nice part of the country that , slightly more hilly than Norfolk !!!!
  24. Makes sense , enjoy whatever you do and happy hunting.
  25. Maybe any form of advertising is good to get you going , but word of mouth / recommendations are where most of my work comes from.
